When we were in Moscow August-Sept of 2022, I had occasion to go to the Globus in the Salario shopping center in SW Moscow. Interesting to shop in during closeout of back to school in September. As a former employee of Walmart I definitely had a positive impression of their stores.
What amazes me is that it's open 24/7. Not that I ever need to go shopping at midnight, but i guess sometimes people need that. That's great this option is available when you need it.

So of course they're gonna have bigger markets and just higher sheer quantity of stuff. People just don’t seem to have the pride in their work here like they used to.
In Russia, 5 years ago we had the same problem in stores. And people started getting outraged, making memes, making jokes about it on the show, etc. And then large grocery chains introduced a rule that if there are 3+ people in line, then another cashier is added to those already working. They are in the store, they were just doing other things. The problem is not so acute now, or has disappeared completely

Watching this video, I remembered the days of my childhood when my whole family would come to the Real or Auchan hypermarket on Sunday and stock up on provisions for the week. 20 years ago it was no worse, there was just as much food, the shops were just as big, and I always liked walking with my dad among these endless shelves. We were also a large family with below-average income, and yet my dad bought food for the whole week, and there was enough money for it. Now I’m 28, I haven’t lived with my parents and haven't been to hypermarkets for a long time. I even forgot what they look like haha Now I buy food in Vkusvill, they deliver it to my home or work with free delivery, so I stopped going to stores altogether haha (not because I'm lazy but because I have no time for it) but I miss those Sunday trips to the hypermarkets..

Because it is our custom to monitor this. Even when we come home, we immediately take off our shoes and outerwear and put on slippers, and then immediately go to wash our hands (even if our hands are clean, always wash your hands as you came home), but only after that can we manage the house. Any guest, parent, child, will be criticized if they did not follow the standard procedure when coming home. The reason is to maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the apartment, not to spread the virus around the house if you suddenly brought it under your shoes or with your hands.
Most supermarkets a clean, but Globus ones are the most cleans of them. And there are the super-order and organization. Maybe because they a from Germany? Thousands of goods are located just on their right places. French Auchans are good too, but not as perfect as Globuses. It is hard to explain, but you can just feel this order and flawless.

We do not have hyper markets in the United States. We do have supermarkets but they can not even compare to these russian hyper markets. Most supermarkets are located in areas of town/city you must drive to. Most towns/cities have poor public transportation. Getting to a supermarket or even a small grocery store can be hard. In the bigger cities the homeless drug addicts will crowd the buses for heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. It is truly a dangerous mess.

Choice is disappearing in the US. Even in our Sam's and Costco, there are only two kinds of rice, and not many bags. It's very convenient, we don't go anywhere by ourselves and don't buy groceries for a week. That's why we always have the freshest food. In addition to food, you can order everything from the utility section, from the animal section, etc. In addition to alcohol, it cannot be ordered home, according to the law.

We have a large land where we have all the resources that can feed our entire small population. This makes us Russians laugh at your sanctions, before we bought your beer and paid taxes, now with sanctions we buy your beer from stores and do not pay taxes. We have in our warehouse all the food companies and beer for 10 years in advance, we can make a pirated copy ourselves with our amount of resources, and if we run out of your beer in 10 years, do you think we won’t find something to replace it with? In Russia, 5 years ago we had the same problem in stores. And people started getting outraged, making memes, making jokes about it on the show, etc. And then large grocery chains introduced a rule that if there are 3+ people in line, then another cashier is added to those already working. They are in the store, they were just doing other things. The problem is not so acute now, or has disappeared completely

Any guest, parent, child, will be criticized if they did not follow the standard procedure when coming home.
The reason is to maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the apartment, not to spread the virus around the house if you suddenly brought it under your shoes or with your hands.

Every time I come to Globus for grocery shopping I half expect to bump into Russell at some point lol
Wow! This place is on a colosal size or Mega size, don't even know how to describe it or what the correct word to use for such supermarket!if you didn't show it, I never would have even imagined it being that size! Thanks for showing Russell👍❤
That plastic bottle return is a great idea for recycling, would love to get money back
Food is not sanctioned. 🤷🏻♀️
I order free shipping from Globus every day. I choose everything I need in the application, there is everything! They bring it in 2-3 hours, everything is brought directly into the apartment. It's very convenient, we don't go anywhere by ourselves and don't buy groceries for a week. That's why we always have the freshest food. In addition to food, you can order everything from the utility section, from the animal section, etc. In addition to alcohol, it cannot be ordered home, according to the law.
I've been to 1 Walmart hypermarket a long time ago & it's still not as big as these stores in Russia. These places are massive!
Great video. I’ve never seen a supermarket as large as this, but I’d love the chance to shop in one, at least once.
Great job like always you need to do a video of you and your wife shopping sometime.
Thanks Russell, enjoyed it.
I miss Russian Standard. 😢 Was my favourite vodka in Sweden before they prohibited import of it. A step above our own Absolut, imho.
Hi Russell! Love your videos..
Take your time, mate. I'm enjoying slow moving videos on foods, cuisines, and outdoors.
One branch of Sainsbury's I sometimes visit here in London, they do have a small Homebase and Argos store in it, but nothing compares to what Globus Russia has done.
What I would say on hyper supermarkets environment, this is future where a customer can just walk into a store and visit, a opticians, DIY, pharmacy etc under one retailler.
There was surprise I spotted in the soft drinks section on British products is the Scottish drink, IRN BRU.
Thank you, Russell.👍👍👋👋🍻
Trade is increasingly moving online. And the concept of a convenience store is most popular in Russia. What is the future in rides somewhere for everyday goods?🤷
You will have to wait a very long time, 20 years, for your sanctions to take effect, but during this time you will lose economic profits.
So who are you hurting with sanctions, us or yourself?
PS: By the way, have you eaten pickled tomatoes in jars?
The British public did not put sanctions on on your country, it was the ruling establishment that did it and the population are told what to say, how to behave etc etc. If you want to have an insight of what the establishment rulers have done the people over the decades, look at the other comment I'd replied to and have a look at how the country is now.
I know how to pickle Tomatoes, thanks.
Check the link.
Russians were the first to design those craft beer taps. They exported those to many countries. Then others started to compete.
We do not have any 24 hour stores anymore in my area in Texas.
Our Walmart’s close at 10pm.
This store opens 24/7, including holidays, according to the sign at the entrance
Hello from Oregon a state in the United States we people here in America do not hate you at all. Videos of Russia are very interesting
I used to work at a large Walmart doing the online shopping. I averaged about 5-6 miles a day walking. It took me about three months to learn the different isles and locations of items. I could only imagine how many miles I'd put in at this store and the time to learn my way about. Thanks for the tour.
I love this store. Not just because I could bring my Pomeranian, but it has everything. I wouldn't have to go anywhere else for anything but clothes.
Too bad you can't contact Tucker Carlson while he is in Moscow and ask him to tag along with you to one of these malls. He won't believe his eyes.
I have been hearing this same statement from so many people in the last few days. Maybe he is a subscriber. And got the idea from my videos.
Bro. Tucker has been all around europe. As someone from germany neither here or next to me in netherlands these markets are special. Funny how surprised you seem. Even if you American its a continent spanning country where they also have such stuff. Even russian market chains in southern states. You need to travel more too it will give you more perspective
@@TravellingwithRussell I bet if you asked the average American how life is for the Average Russian near a large city, they would probably think that they drive 1957 Chevys like in Cuba and burn cow dung for heat. Cell phones - no way, computers that have gigabytes of memory - no way
modern supermarkets - SiFi
Our legacy media has painted that picture at the direction of our government.
Seriously, as an average American, I'm blown away, and I apologize for our government harming the average Russian with these stupid sanctions.
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti What ??
@@noleftturns Just viewing videos of supermarkets and stores in Moscow does not give a good picture of what life is like in Russia for the average Russian. The average household income in Russia is only about $12,000 (USD) per year or about $1000 per month.
Impressive. Thank you for sharing this. I would really like to see a Hardware store...mid-size, just to compare product prices etc.
LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!
Globus is my favorite shop in thr world. So muc choice
Amazing watching this. Looks more impressive than here in London. I think we have gone backwards in West.
Downwards....backwards would be nice, life was better 30-40 years ago.

Globus is very good.
It's one of my favorite stores in Moscow. I have one close to my house as well. So, I am there often.
Over 130k subscribers! Congratulations, Russell!🎉
I was absolutely blown away when i 1st stepped foot inside of globus. I couldnt belive the sheer size of it. When i was im podolsk! I have never seen so much selection. Coming from a really small country 18,000km away globus is probably bigger than my local city center. I loved globus and Vkusvill. I miss them both. One day soon i will be back in русский. And will visit the fantastic city of podolsk, globus and vkusvill again! )))
Looks very clean and proper. Not many stores this nice in Canada.
Hi Russell, I like your videos! Hello from Moscow ❤
All I can say is WOW. That place is incredible! It seems well maintained and well designed. This place makes Walmart supercenters look tiny! I was amazed by all the smaller stores. Oh, look, real cashiers! (Yes, I am being sarcastic. The local Walmart focuses on the self checkout and does not have many regular checkouts open). I think Wikipedia said there's only like 16 of these stores in Russia? Thank you for showing us this store!
Globus? There are 21 hypermarkets on the maps. They are only available in the Moscow area. For example, Cash & Carry are 95 Metro and 11 Selgros.
@@i8Hardcore I see. Thank you for answering! 🙂
@@i8Hardcore Are you referring to cities like Ryazan and Yaroslavl as "Moscow area"? :)
Honestly Globus is not TYPICAL Russian supermarket. When I lived in Russia it was my lovely store. It's better than Auchan, Lenta etc. I believe Globus is the best supermarket in Russia. Moreover these stores are only available in Moscow.
Great video.
🇺🇲
Great looking "Hyper-Market"!
So vast, I began to
Hyper-Ventilate!
lol
No, Russell, nothing like it in
America, that I know of.
The only thing close to that size, that I've been to, is called Woodman's, in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and in Aurora, Illinois.
Super Walmarts are grocery
almost half the store, but nowhere near that size!
And they supply nice electric carts for elderly, and disabled persons to sit in, and cruise around and shop with.
There is a mobile application for older people. They don’t even have to go, they’ll bring everything home!
If you listen to the politicians here the Russian people are suffering under Putin and sanctions that EU and US have placed on them the reality is completely different
Happy to see such
abundance thanks for the video
