Oh wow!!! This is the best foundation I have used the last 10 years! I gave up all my other more expensive ones. I mix it with a tiny drop of aloe gel which is kind of sticky a bit, and it performs really well during the day 👌
That foundation!!!! ... but your eyes look beautiful! And your hair looks great too. Most of all though, YOU are so fun and I love watching your videos. I think I'm repeating myself, but I can't help it.
I'd probably use this product as a base to help with my discoloration and a liquid foundation overtop, I have dry skin and used a Maybelline stick years ago as a base. I know it's a technique for everyone but it worked for me back then.
I really appreciate foundation reviews esp. for over 40 like myself! Always on the search for the perfect one! My skin is similar to yours with dryness between the eyebrows. Otherwise my skin is pretty normal. Your skin looks great! Thank you for doing these reviews!
🤦♀️ yikes, just started on Tretinoin myself so I’m feeling your pain with the peeling and dry patches. CYO has been working out well for me right now, love to see a vid on what foundation is working out for you while on retinoids. Thanks for putting your face through that foundation! 😆
So far (just started week 3 so it's super new) I've been able to wear the Dior Skin Glow through the worst of it. I think that stuff is made of magic and unicorns and I like it even more now than when I reviewed it (and I really liked it then). I mixed the CYO and the Dior a couple times too because they have a similar finish so I can see how the CYO would work well with the flaking. Knock on wood I think my flaking is starting to subside!
Oh no, what a bummer! Bonus points for taking one for the team Shell! While watching you apply it I was thinking probably not for me - I didn't care for the finish and I thought that shade (which is probably my match in depth, certainly isn't in undertone) would most likely look basketball orange on me (that dreaded "drugstore pink" effect). I'll be sticking to my Fast Base Stick with it's lovely finish and near perfect shade match (both in depth & undertone).
Wow, when you were trying to put that stuff on, I had to give you credit for actually finishing. I cannot abide a pasty foundation and that sure seemed like one. I used to have really dry skin, don't anymore, and I wish I had five bucks for every foundation that looked like that on me from the get-go. LOL.....I'm gonna have to pass this one up. Thanks!
I was so close to pulling the plug but after the Hourglass one was such a mess, I was like, am I just being a baby?? So I kept going and then just about scared myself to death looking in the mirror at the end 😂😂😂
Happy Friday! Alright, comment and a question. Comment- i really liked the music you had over your foundation application portion. Made me happy :) yay. Here’s the question- I’m not familiar with retinol because I think my skin is too sensitive to use it.. so this is probably just because I don’t ha e experience with retinol that I’m contemplating this. Anywhooo.... why use a retinol when it seems like it just makes skin scaly and peely?
Hi Kristen! I had to pick happy music to offset the misery of this one 😂😂😂The flaking period of retinol is usually the first 2 weeks or so as your skin adjusts to it, and then it subsides and works its magic :) I just started week 3 and sure enough my upper lip is getting better so fingers crossed I'm out of the woods! It's one of the most studied skin care ingredients (so there's a lot of information that has been clinically verified on how it works, what it does, side effects etc) unlike a lot of ingredients that are unproven or not yet widely tested.
@@goow Haha well that's fair. It SUCKED. :oP Color was okay? Eh, let's find positives... somehow. Thanks for the info on retinol! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend.
Great info once again! I've been tempted to buy this one, but think I'll pass especially since I have extremely dry skin and it would look worse on me!
It's crazy how everyone has such different takes on the same product. I also have drier skin and I really like this stick foundation. I dont find it drying one bit. In fact it gives me a really nice glow. I get the exact amount of coverage I want, I'm not into heavy, full coverage. At the moment I'm trying out both the Laura Mercier and Nars tinted moisturizers and I gotta say, this wet n wild one is beating them in my opinion.
I was thinking the same thing. Every single makeup product I read reviews about are completely different! Even if the reviewers have the same skin type, they still have different opinions. It's either the best thing ever or the worst thing ever. And they all have different skin care products or primers under the foundation which changes everything!
I wasn't surprised I guess. I haven't had any luck with Wet & Wild foundations. What do you think about the Pacifica concealer? I have oily skin and an looking for a good concealer.
I'm enjoying the Pacifica concealer! I wore it every day last week. It doesn't seem to dry out my under eye or settle into my lines. I wish it had a little more coverage but it's great for lighter makeup days and I like the undertone of it for canceling out dark circles.
@@goow Sounds perfect. I'm dong a no buy this year and am working on finishing a sample sized Shape Tape concealer which I find a little thick. Ohhh, I also want to thank you for your video on the Color pop Fame palette! I love it so much.
The first few times I used this I was so underwhelmed with it. I've found that if I mix it with the liquid version it looks bomb on my dry skin. It's definitely one of my favorites now.
I bought mine last week and I was so excited and it is not a good foundation it didn't last long at all on me I was really bummed because it was affordable so I guess back to the grinding stone thanks for your input have a great night hope things are settling down a bit in your life
You are so brave & cute 2 go out in2 the world testing. Love it! Please, anyone!!! Is there a mineral/physical sunscreen that melts into the skin like lotion? Doesn't leave that waxy feel on the skin? I can either wear my tinted sunscreen w/ a light dust of powder foundation but as soon as I start adding foundation or heaven forbid try a primer then a foundation....goes so wrong. I'm wildly allergic to chemical sunscreen. Any of you in this boat?
Have you tried the Australian Gold tinted face sunscreen SPF50? That's my go-to mineral sunscreen. The tint is a tiny bit too dark for me in the winter but I love it in the summer. (And I go in with foundation and the rest of my face over it).
@@goow Yes, I do have. Love it but for me, hard to layer. IDK You ever see that Wayne Goss where he talks about how the face can only absorb so much? Too much product? I just ordered the Paula's Choice. Only spf 30 but one of the few I haven't tried. Been looking @ setting sprays but all seem chemical? I do use the Color Science powder. But when ya get the makeup all perfect, airbrushed...then put that heavy stuff on top..makes me sad. But it is good. Different look, prob one of my favorite options.
Definitely go w a darker shade on your face when you have sun spots or it will go ashy my face is darker due to sun spots n discoloration I just match my face and go down to my neck w foundation
Happy to see they brought a lighter shade into this line, maybe they'll add more to the cushion and regular liquid too. I've unfortunately had that result from a lot of foundations, for me the wrong combo of skincare and dry skin can be horrible. Even the Hourglass stick can do that to me 😲 Oh I wanted to share a tip I got from a recent video from Caroline Hirons on stronger retinols - she said to basically avoid around the mouth area entirely and nose folds. If the flakiness doesn't go away, might be worth trying. I use Differin daily so I've also struggled with a variety of retinoid-related really dry flaky spots as well. 🧟😑
I've kept it off of my nose and upper lip but I think it migrates when I put moisturizer on top (which I kind of do intentionally thinking it'd be pretty well thinned out for just a tiny amount... because my upper lip especially needs some anti wrinkle action!) 😂but I'm heading into week 3 now and the flaking is almost gone, so I think I will adjust. Fingers crossed!!! :-D I will have to look up Caroline - I don't think I follow her!
Thank you Shelly as always! Love your honest reviews! Wondering if you've seen/tried or researched the new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue stick foundation. So many seem to love it that are dry to dry/combo. Was hoping to see you do a review. I've not been getting notifications of late from your vids so having to stalk you :)
I haven't yet but I've got Bare Minerals on my list to try more of their stuff! Oy UA-cam notifications are notoriously messed up. I don't even say it half the time anymore because it doesn't work!
I’ve tried many stick foundations and this one for me was not that bad. The makeup revolution one was cakey even though it said hydrating, the Juvias place stick was awful like mud on my face. This one, not too bad, I just can’t find my shade in it. They either have ivory or sun kissed beige.
I have had that same issue with my pores every time I have tried a stick foundation ..... I just bought neutrogena hydro boost stick foundation this week. Maybe it will work lol. I’d would love to see how it fairs on your skin 👯♀️
Your face at the final check-in is what my skin looked like every time I tried the SuperStay foundation that everyone seems to love. I feel for your expression in the mirror lol
Hi Shelly! Ooh, the “alabaster” shade is pretty. I don’t think this will be for me, though. You know me- I keep using my Missha Perfect Cover. My skin just loves it too much. (I mix it with Maybelline Matte and Poreless- have you tried it lately? Maybelline is rocking it with that stuff.) ☺️
Hi Shelly. Love your videos! Please do a review on Hard Candy glamoflouge full coverage foundation. Really interested in your opinion about it. Thank you in advance. Wish all the best in everything! 🦋💖🦋
Thanks for the review! I have been curious about this and now I will definitely pass. I really like the makeup revolution stick foundation. Ok, I almost bought the wetnwild Air highlight today and talked myself out of it because I have sooo many highlighters but it looked so Pretty on you, I’m regretting my decision lol
The MR stick is pretty much my favorite stick. I love the Hourglass stick too but it's so similar to the MR that I could never recommend it instead of the MR. Ooooh Air is limited edition.... I have backups because my 2 favorite highlighters of life are the Natasha Denona Super Glow and WnW Air :-D I will be so sad when it's gone. But my original is lasting forever, so I'm not too worried. Highlighter will probably be out of style by the time I run out!
Geek Out of Water awesome 👏 My mom use to use it all the time and it became hard to find!!! And where I live I am still not able to get it but heard it’s making a comeback and I hope so. It would make a 70 year young woman happy if she could get her Nuevo beige pan stick in Sandersville ga again. But no luck as of yet.
I am so happy to have found a fellow dry skinned gal in her 40’s. I love your videos! One question... when you use primers with foundation do you worry about making sure you use a water based primer with a water based foundation and a silicone based primer with a silicone based foundation or do you find that it doesn’t matter?
The only time I worry about mixing is when it's either an oil-based primer with a non-oil-based foundation or an oil-based foundation with a non-oil-based primer. Since most of the silicone-based foundations have both water and silicone in them, they don't seem to have issues with either water or silicone based primers (and vice versa). The oil gets tricky. But I only have one or two oil-based foundations, and the only primer oil I have is from Smashbox (and it seems to work pretty well with everything), so generally I don't worry about it!
Almost all of my foundations are silicone based. If there are any of the -cone words in it, it's likely silicone based. I only have a couple that are water based. My primers are mostly silicone too - though ones like the Too Faced Hangover 3 in 1 spray are water-based. There's a good chance that most have silicones in them!
I haven’t heard many good things about this. My dry skin would despise it, lol. I am interested in the Pacifica Powder. Did that one have fragrance? I can’t remember. Thanks for your honest review, love🍃🌸.
Right now with my skin being so dry I've been head over heels for the Dior Skin Glow - I've worn it every day even with my retinol flaking and it's wonderful. I mixed the CYO with it to adjust the shade a few times because they are a similar finish so I'd say the CYO Life Proof as well.
Geek Out of Water From what I’ve seen, your skin would really love the Kosås foundation. It’s only light coverage, but it leaves your skin looking and feeling so good!
I finally stopped using the liquid version because of the smell - just couldn’t do it anymore. Didn’t realize they had done a stick version but they always always disappoint me boo so may try on a lark? But probably not lol
What’s really weird is that the liquid foundation version is good, smell aside. I guess when the foundation is turned into a stick version the formula seems to change. Good video!!
I'm often tempted to try a new drugstore foundation simply on the basis of price but I'll keep the $6 on this one and maybe go to Starbucks instead! LOL As always, I really appreciate your reviews! Have a fantastic weekend Shelly!
Have you tried the Makeup Revolution stick? I have 5 different shades of it - it's one of the few foundations that works year-round on me equally well. I love the Hourglass stick too but honestly price-wise I'd just stick with the MR. Sticks are finicky on me but those two aren't.
I cannot make stick foundations work for me. They're usually heavy, cakey, and bunch up in lines and wrinkles. Lol! Don't you love it when you're just going about your day without a care and then catch a glimpse of yourself in a mirror and gasp....then think of all the places you've been or people you've talked to in the last few hours! I've had moments like that with mascara that was all around my eyes literally like a raccoon and I was the last person to find out about it! AHHH!!
Ahhh! Who writes those descriptors? Reminds me mildly of passive-aggressiveness, like they are insulting you, but then if you use this magical product you are perfect and happy!
Right?!?!?!? Those kinds of sales pitches drive me BATTY!!!! As if to be interested in makeup, we must be feeling sad and ugly with no self-confidence. What a horrible way to view your target audience. It usually makes me think that the people in charge of advertising and promotion are out of touch with the actual user base.
I've noticed people with pale skin, including myself, tend to pick shades that are a shade too light. I think we do it because of our aversion to the wrong undertones? I dunno. I do it too--I'm trying not to though. I still think it's better for us pale-skinned girls to go a shade light vs a shade dark. 🤷♀️
Yep I feel like if I do get a mismatch, it's easier to warm something up with bronzer than it is to lighten something that's too dark. And I'm not a fan of taking foundation way, way down my neck as I don't like it getting on my neckline of my shirts.
Hi, I haven’t been able to watch you much lately, and I’ve missed you. But about the advertising, I feel the same way. I think when we have to return things that’s the reason we should give. I didn’t look lit from within, didn’t add confidence, etc, etc. Do they really think 🤔 we believe that crap. Have a great day, and great video 👍
Ounce per ounce they're almost always way more expensive, yep - though I wish I could figure out a way to measure how much product is used per application, to compare the number of applications of a stick product per ounce to the number of applications of a liquid product per ounce, to get a true price comparison. I will figure it out someday!
Wetnwild didn't put the lightest shade and darkest shade in stores at all. For some reason u have to get those 2 on their website. Idk why that's kinda weird but atleast they made a really light and really dark shade.
I didn't like this one. The only way I could make it work, is towards the end of my day, when my foundations are wearing off my chin and nose, I use this to cover those areas, and it works like a charm. I just use my finger, and tap it in those areas, and my face looks brand new again LOL
I get all of my cat ear headbands on Shop Miss A! It looks like they don't have any right now but their stock updates constantly - www.shopmissa.com/search?q=cat+ears
@@goow Oh, thank you!! Last time I was on their site I did not see those. I will have to keep an eye out. I got a couple of their magnetic palettes and I like those; they are a good value.
15DOF is my favorite time of the year! :-D Taylor is 100% my inspiration. I have her linked in every one of my foundation reviews (though let's be honest, everybody knows ThaTaylaa!)
Added to the video list! In the meantime, if you visit my spreadsheet, at the top right corner of the spreadsheet you can search. Type in "hydrating" and it'll show only the foundations I've reviewed that I thought were hydrating on dry skin. They're ranked best to worst, and anything that scored 90 A- or higher would be one of my go-tos. geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
Oh, yikes. At the beginning, I thought this looked pretty good on you, but the close-up at the end made me gasp. Thank you for trying these things so we don't have to! (And WTF Ulta on cutting shades. That's crappy of them on so many levels.)
I could NOT believe when I looked in the mirror after 8 hours! It tanked somewhere between 5 and 8. And it went downhill FAST! I was pretty dumbfounded by the Ulta bit. It's not that they were out of stock on shades - they didn't even list them. I almost mistakenly complained about WnW leaving out the dark shades because sometimes I just assume Ulta carries the whole line. I'm glad I went to the WnW site to see - and will not rely on Ulta's shade count in the future.
I have pretty good luck with WnW shades - they seem to carry my undertone in most of their lines. Their cushion foundation is probably my favorite from them.
Usually the close-up shots are the place to see what I see (as studio lighting at a conversational distance makes everything look better... thus, the close-ups!)
So true!!! I just ordered the rebel rose box set from them... I've only seen Zabrena review it but the shadows looked meh and I will be bummed if that's the case! I love the color schemes.
I'd never seen them do that before. Now I'm going to make sure I check the manufacturer's site always, because I usually just count the Ulta page to see how many shades there are. Bummed me out on several levels.
Thorough, honest, funny, your foundation reviews are my favorite! "I look like Leatherface." 🤣
Thanks, Rena! This one was scary! 😂
I love this stick version. Shell Ivory is what I use. I warm it up between two of my fingers and then that seems to make the application smooth.
Your face looks even better in the normal daylight which is a total compliment.
Thanks, Lexxi!
Oh wow!!! This is the best foundation I have used the last 10 years! I gave up all my other more expensive ones. I mix it with a tiny drop of aloe gel which is kind of sticky a bit, and it performs really well during the day 👌

I'd probably use this product as a base to help with my discoloration and a liquid foundation overtop, I have dry skin and used a Maybelline stick years ago as a base. I know it's a technique for everyone but it worked for me back then.

My mom use to use it all the time and it became hard to find!!! And where I live I am still not able to get it but heard it’s making a comeback and I hope so. It would make a 70 year young woman happy if she could get her Nuevo beige pan stick in Sandersville ga again. But no luck as of yet.
I want to buy for my daughter marriage plz tell me it's good for dry skinn
My top long-wear options are MAC Studio Radiance (or Face & Body), and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place if she needs higher coverage.
I have so much trouble telling which foundations and primers are based with which ingredient. They have such strange names 🙃
It does have a slight scent to it - more like a natural earthy scent.
Geek Out of Water I’m almost always OK as long as it’s not a synthetic fragrance. Or certain eo’s, like mints etc.
Thanks! 😚💫💫💫✌🏻
I have a feeling it's the combo of ingredients I'm smelling and not an intentional fragrance.
Geek Out of Water I may have to give it a try:)
Hey! I’m curious - What foundation have you found that looks and feels best on you? We have similar skin.
I just got it from Sephora! It will be a review soon!! :-D
Geek Out of Water Yay!
Geek Out of Water And you apply it with your fingers.
I finally stopped using the liquid version because of the smell - just couldn’t do it anymore. Didn’t realize they had done a stick version but they always always disappoint me boo so may try on a lark? But probably not lol
I'd save your loot and get a sandwich or a fancy coffee instead of this one 😂
On a positive note I thought maybe I could use this for touch-up concealer areas we'll see I hate to just throw it away
I end up giving my duds to my much younger cousins. Their teenage skin makes anything look good 😂
What’s really weird is that the liquid foundation version is good, smell aside. I guess when the foundation is turned into a stick version the formula seems to change. Good video!!
Thanks for the review! Think I’ll pass on it. The new Neutrogena Hydro foundation stick isn’t too good either. It kinda just sits on top of the skin.
"I don't know, I'm 12 different colors'',.ahhhhaha!
I've been wondering about this!
I actually came here first before the 15 days of foundation lol. Tho I love the taylaa I find my foundation choices seem to be closer to yours. ❤️❤️
15DOF is the best time of the year! :-D
I'm often tempted to try a new drugstore foundation simply on the basis of price but I'll keep the $6 on this one and maybe go to Starbucks instead! LOL As always, I really appreciate your reviews! Have a fantastic weekend Shelly!
Right? I was thinking a nice sandwich would be better... or a couple chai lattes....
I want to love a stick foundation so bad, but this far nothing.. i just threw away idk how much on the lancome one
Have you tried the Makeup Revolution stick? I have 5 different shades of it - it's one of the few foundations that works year-round on me equally well. I love the Hourglass stick too but honestly price-wise I'd just stick with the MR. Sticks are finicky on me but those two aren't.
@@goow I have not!! But I'm going to now!
AHHH!!
Don't you love those days?! 😂😂😂😳
@@goow thanks for the ❤! Same on not wearing foundation way down my neck! 😁
nice review. thank you...
Thanks, Boo!
I always trust your foundation opinions, thank you for trying things so I don't have to ;)
Thanks, Jessi! That's the plan - save your money for the good stuff!
Rutro Shaggy. Thanks for the review, was eyeing this and now I'm not! 👀🙈
I've never been so shocked by my scary face at the end as I was with this! 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I'm dying laughing over here, Mary, because I am TOTALLY writing that on my next return or saying it when I return in-store!!!!!!!
I honestly thought you had removed the foundation at the end!!
omg. It was scary.
I find stick foundations to be extremely drying and when you break down the price per ounce they tend to be more expensive for less product ...
Mac x For me they go on better with fingers, it seems to warm the product so that it spreads more easily but sticks are definitely not my favorite
Ounce per ounce they're almost always way more expensive, yep - though I wish I could figure out a way to measure how much product is used per application, to compare the number of applications of a stick product per ounce to the number of applications of a liquid product per ounce, to get a true price comparison. I will figure it out someday!
Lol! "Who would want to miss this Hot mess?" 🤣😂😁😍
😂😂😂
Thanks for saving us money!!!
Anytime!! :-D
Wetnwild didn't put the lightest shade and darkest shade in stores at all. For some reason u have to get those 2 on their website. Idk why that's kinda weird but atleast they made a really light and really dark shade.
Definitely glad they made the shades!!! Weird to only get them from the source.
I didn't like this one. The only way I could make it work, is towards the end of my day, when my foundations are wearing off my chin and nose, I use this to cover those areas, and it works like a charm. I just use my finger, and tap it in those areas, and my face looks brand new again LOL
I'm glad I watched this. Will not be buying this foundation now.
Where did you get those cute cat ears?
I get all of my cat ear headbands on Shop Miss A! It looks like they don't have any right now but their stock updates constantly - www.shopmissa.com/search?q=cat+ears
@@goow Oh, thank you!! Last time I was on their site I did not see those. I will have to keep an eye out. I got a couple of their magnetic palettes and I like those; they are a good value.
I'm late, shame on me! Sorry, had to go watch 15 days of foundation 😉❣
I'm concerned about this foundation. The liquid wasn't my fave.
15DOF is my favorite time of the year! :-D Taylor is 100% my inspiration. I have her linked in every one of my foundation reviews (though let's be honest, everybody knows ThaTaylaa!)
It worked poor for me also 👍👍
:( best of foundations video for dry skin please 😂
Added to the video list! In the meantime, if you visit my spreadsheet, at the top right corner of the spreadsheet you can search. Type in "hydrating" and it'll show only the foundations I've reviewed that I thought were hydrating on dry skin. They're ranked best to worst, and anything that scored 90 A- or higher would be one of my go-tos. geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
I feel like something like this should be used for a few hours and that's that! LOL
Yep, at most!
Bright green car ☺
The official paint color is "hypergreen" 😂😂😂I love it!
💖
That’s a good color match for you, though!
I have pretty good luck with WnW shades - they seem to carry my undertone in most of their lines. Their cushion foundation is probably my favorite from them.
This one will definitely be a pass for me. Love your review though!
Thanks, Tish!
Noooo! This one is not good! 🙈 your beautiful face deserves better 😁❤️
At least there's the comedy of the disaster 😂
So you liked this foundation then? 😂
😂😂😂😳
Missing the kitties!
I don't know where they were hiding this day!
But....hey.....your eyes look good......LOL
Thanks, Debi! Always a bright side!!
I didn’t see the flaws you saw. I am confused with your review.
Usually the close-up shots are the place to see what I see (as studio lighting at a conversational distance makes everything look better... thus, the close-ups!)
Oh man, "not even on a BOGO" lmao! 😂 That's pretty bad.
My face was SCARY at the end! 😂😂😂
Youre still beautiful.
It looked very dry after you put the foundation on.....just did not hold up....disappointing!
Definitely a bummer! There's always tomorrow :-D
WnW can be so hit or miss sometimes... and when it's a miss, it's a MEGA MISS. lol
So true!!! I just ordered the rebel rose box set from them... I've only seen Zabrena review it but the shadows looked meh and I will be bummed if that's the case! I love the color schemes.
What the hell Ulta?!
I'd never seen them do that before. Now I'm going to make sure I check the manufacturer's site always, because I usually just count the Ulta page to see how many shades there are. Bummed me out on several levels.
Oh no! Not good. Honestly, from the beginning, it looked flat and lifeless on you. I say get rid of it!! Yikes! Sorry Shelly! 😫☹
And when it hit the wall, it definitely hit the wall! 😂😂😂
@@goow Haha!! 😂🤣😁
I’m so happy I didn’t buy this!
If it would have been anything on you like it was on me, you saved yourself some loot!
