Snap city is an old friend that never completely leaves. He merely lingers.
Tony Ferguson is here to stay.. #SnapDownCity
As a self certificate UA-cam comment coach. I can definitely see potential injury risk around those weird twisting movements from max effort mix grip pulls, that you man not be experiencing from sub-maximal gym training. Hope hookgrip goes well!
What about instead of lifting with hook grip, switching the side that you do over/under on to give your injured hamstring some lenience, at least until you’re at 100%, then maybe adding in the hook grip to keep symmetrical at that point? Just a thought. Not sure what implications offsetting the balance to the other side might have.
As always, I am impressed with your attitude and objective stoicism through adversity. You’ll get there! Unless your eyebrows get injured then it’s all over RIP gg
I have a theory. The mask negatively impacts recovery after training. I feel like my recovery is kinda off since training with mask. Had e minor quad tear pause squatting a month ago x)
@@NexWalkthrough my arm needed ice after watching him get caught in that armbar. LOL

It's insane seeing bench that much in competition with not a lot of muscle on your upper body. You've shown time and time again the effect squatting has not only for the lower body, but the ENTIRE body. Great job man!
Lmao yes bc he’s been squatting his whole career with a pretty much lower bench then benches more after training it way more than before. Must be the squats raising his test over time, just that
Just wanted to say, I have been trying to find something like this for a while. I hurt my hamstring in April 2020 sprinting when the gym closed. Same symptoms as you. Did what I could every day eventually doing more of a bodybuilding style and didn’t started strength training til 3 months later. And now I am stronger than ever. Seeing this gives me a sense of relief and motivation, thanks man. This was very helpful
Whenever I tried to perform under the influence of strong emotions - no matter if good or bad - I get snapped up. Would not recommend
That’s what Jason Blaha always suggested.
Running the 6 week program atm, going for a 220kg pull in 2 weeks. Wish me luck boys 🙏

Equipped lifting and its consequences have been a disaster for the powerlifter.

Awesome to see the optimistic and thoughtful outlook, you’re gonna be stronger than ever in no time. I also had weird shit happen to me from the “helicopter” bar effect from mixed grip leading me to become a forever hooker. Start conditioning your thumbs now so that once you are lifting heavy again they aren’t holding you back
Candito, You are a treasure. Kudos for active rehab, I'm sure You will get back to your best in no time.
Awesome to have you back!!
You'll be back stronger Jonnie!
I tore my hamstring over a year ago. I did the exact opposite of yourself. I avoided all leg movement and thought it was wise to minimize the hamstrings lengthening at all times
Looking back. Obviously that was a BIG mistake. The result was a lot of extra scar tissue. Still can’t train legs 15 months later
WTF, good to know bro.+1
When I tore my hamstring I didn’t use crutches or anything. I had to hobble around really painfully for about 2 weeks. Then around the 3rd week I was able to start walking semi normal and by the end of that week I was able to jog again. At that point I started doing some hamstring stabilization exercises and actually built up to my heaviest ever RDL at the time that was 265 x6
You’re gonna love the Notorious Deadlift slippers! Got my first pair a month ago, always deadlifted in ASICS wrestling shoes or chucks. Notorious blows them out in my opinion with traction and stability. Hamstring strain is unfortunate but that’s 2020 in a nutshell. Here’s to 2021 man! 💪🏼
The line on your wall made me think my screen had a scratch. Thank you
This guy is the 24th personality from Split movie.
Jokes aside,congratulations man.
Not just for lifting that weights but for sharing with us too! Good recovery brother.
The notorious slippers can be great for some people but I find that if you externally rotate very hard at the bottom of a sumo deadlift the lateral side of your foot can spill over the edge of the shoe, so even if the traction is very good the movement of your foot within the slipper can cause problems
even with the new sumo sole?
@@flippino35 Ive only tried them a couple of time and it helps somewhat but you do still slide around a bit, I’ll have try them a few more times when I get the chance and see if they work well enough
@@flippino35 they do also come with a very thin insole which you can take out to get slightly closer to the ground but then the extra room in the slipper as a result adds to the problem I spoke of

Hey Candito! Been a fan and subscriber since 2015 or so. I have had the same problem, I tore both hamstrings. One each in a different event. One while sprinting in cold weather. And the other during a baseball game, I was very dehydrated. I feel you on many levels my man.
That’s a major bummer. Get well soon!
Good stuff about how to deal with an injury by not catastrophising. Barbell Medicine guys also taught me to change my mindset.
You win some, you lose some. You’ll be back on the horse soon enough. Happy holidays & God bless

i felt that clip of you in the armchair so hard, 600 deadlift went fine, but have some sort of abdominal wall strain, or hernia and i went to the hospital where they told me what wasnt wrong rather than what is so im always feeling around and going back and forth in my head lmao

Heartbreaking, but you’ll be back better and stronger next time! LFG!
Hookgrip is a huge advantage in sumo pulling
How come? Teach me
@@zTorrentiaLzzz in sumo you get something called “quad thumb”. As you’re pulling the weight up your hand can rub against your leg and actually kinda open your fingers making you lose your grip. Pull sumo w/ hook grip and that won’t be an issue
I’m with you on the BBM stance of injury. So going with that line of reasoning of load and volume management, if you favor your left side while breaking the floor, you are accumulating more volume on your left than your right. So by default, your technique is affecting your load management unilaterally in this case. Just to back up your point earlier.
Did your hamstring tear you?
Many tears were shed
Bro when I tore my adductor honestly you could of heard it 50 metres away the pop is etched into my mind forever.
Hopefully it wont be a reoccurring thing for you. Guess you just have to take some time off and rehab it completely. Wishing the best for you though
I’m able to max out on my conventional pretty easy. I’m super strong with it but can’t even do a fraction of my conventional on sumo without feeling strain and a shear like sensation in my hamstring.
You mention the BBM philosophy around injury -- ie bad form != injury. I just wanted to add, even with your slight departure from it, you're still reinforcing what Jordan and Austin say -- the reason they say bad form doesn't cause injuries is that you can become strong lifting with bad form. The place where fatigue management comes into it (based on my very rudimentary understanding) is that high fatigue will make form more likely to slip. In other words, at high fatigue, you are more likely to perform the movement differently than you did at lower fatigue (consistent with other stuff you've said about how form at 95-100% looks different than at 80% and does not have complete carryover), and so you are more likely to accidentally try to lift in a way you are not prepared for. ie, consistent bad form is not going to cause injury, because you have been preparing yourself with this bad form at lower intensity, but bad form as a result of fatigue is more likely to cause injury, because you are suddenly forcing your body to work in some movement pattern it's not used to.
But my (unofficial) PL total is like 300kg so we can also just pretend like I didn't post this, if you like. I think that might be easier for everyone.
Don't forget your Tri-Oral electrolytes... glad to hear that you are doing well and it wasn't a tear.
great video, as always
Candito - Tears his hamstring on an exercise that heavily taxes the hamstring, the deadlift.
Me - Tears his levator scapulae performing an exercise that hardly taxes the levator scapulae, the OHP.
Edit - Tore my hamstring deadlifting today. LOL
tight shoulders. been there before. good luck on ur recovery
I tore my calves doing bicep curls
Tweaking your levator scapulae on ohp is really common
I've heard that the shoulders can be impinged at the top if you don't shrug. So maybe pay attention to your scapular positioning
@@pyrrosdimas5798 I have no idea if you're being serious as I did tweak my hamstring during a bench press lol.

This is the fastest 18 minutes has ever gone by on a UA-cam video... ever.
candito you know more than me but ive been told by a friend involved in kinesiology research that over 700 pounds is where most peoples muscle fibers start to switch from tearing like torn paper to snapping like stretched rubber bands, this is the range where PRs get much riskier and slower.
Cool vid eyebrow man

Johnny: sorry about your hamstring. I switched to conventional after tearing each one with sumo. Once you hurt your hamstrings you are susceptible to re-injuring them. Sorry. Healing time is about 6-weeks.
Thank you as always for your dedication Jonnie you will come back stronger than ever. Btw what is that outro song???
Im rly sympathizing with u kn this video. I felt sth moving in my knee during squat went to e.r did rtg cuz i was panicked that i tore my acl. Holy shit i couldnt sleep cuz i was so scare that i wont ever be able to nlift same way ever. Luvkily it was just a minor kneecap tendon injury 2 weeks and i will be as good as new

Is it lower risk of a hamstring injury if you do a real deadlift?

Is that Kid Cudi I hear in the outro?
I bailed mid rambling. Did he go to a doctor?
Wheredoyouthinkyouare.jpg
He did not. He cited studies that showed that mri scans were not predictive of recovery times for hamstring injuries. Since it clearly wasn’t a major hamstring detachment or something, there’s not much a dr can do besides charge you for an mri and then give you some potentially irrelevant or bad advice (like don’t move it for 2 weeks to let it heal or something dumb like that)
