I have 8 Iceburg Rose bushes and even though I prune exactly how you described, I did not realize the dead looking wood will still produce! Heavy pruning is early Spring for us here in Southern CA makes for amazing deep green leaves and tons of bright white blooms. When I prune them it looks like I killed it but then a few weeks later they are the envy of the neighboorhood. Thank you for sharing this information, love it.❤
Even here in South Africa ,if I heavy prune late winter ,because Im in a frost free area…..boy oh boy ,wait see the crazy flowering ,man those white flower are just incredibly beautiful
I have had to prune 2 20 yr old standard Icebergs that were 2m high. Reducing them to half size has been epic. The so called gardener had been hedge pruning them occasionally and the outside of each bush was a thicket of tiny non flowering twigs. I have another 2 hours' work on them to tame them.
Very nice, I recently bought two Brilliant Iceberg Single Stalk Rose Trees. I was concerned if I had to gingerly prune them or if it didn’t matter. Now I know, Thank you Sir! 😀
Hello sir thank you for your video. Please tell me if I'm not a gardener will this be a good starter type of rose to get or is there something else I should start off with? I live in Louisiana
Thank you for your comment Mr Gerber. July is winter in South Africa and not the blooming season. Actually hedge trimmers work much more effectively than chainsaws and we do indeed use them.

Wow, that is heavy pruning. I am sure he’s right, he knows what he is doing. I just ordered an iceberg, this is helpful. Thanks.
