This is so satisfying and relatable for me. I was adopted and through ancestry I was able to finally find my birth families. In fact I ended up living in the same city as my maternal family. My neighbors brother was actually married to my first cousin and she was the first one I made contact with about my findings and questions...sadly I didn't get to meet my biological mother as she had passed but it led me to my half brothers, cousins, aunts and uncles maternally. With more research through ancestry I found my first and many other family members on my paternal side... I just remember being so excited and overwhelmed as well. Love all the work and experiences that you do here. Ty
I love how this is all flesh- they could have done what's done (badly) so often and dragged it all out, but instead they packed it with the stories in a compelling way. Great stuff.
The Louise Wise adoption agency was known for taking twins, triplets and splitting them up and sending them to different homes without telling the parents to be that the child did actually have a sibling. It was a nature vs nurture experiment; to see if children from the same birth would grow up to exhibit the same behaviours despite their upbringing being very different. These children reached adulthood before learning they even had siblings and some have reconnected. The agency to this day refuses to release information even to the children who were adopted out about what they did to them, and people are having to resort to DNA tests to locate family that went through this agency. The documentary Three Identical Strangers goes in-depth on this. Its really very sad.
I've recorded that documentary. It seemed interesting although nothing surprising to me. They all had simmilar tastes and simmilar attitudes yet were different although looking alike. They even liked the same type of women to marry.
Andy looks both Italian and Jewish so it makes sense. Rr martin does not look Italian at all so it also makes sense. They are always so excited when someone is from Italy because Italians keep them records 😂

I’ve done a similar thing to what they did her for Andy. I found my maternal grandmother, who put my mother up for adoption, via DNA testing and my mothers original birth certificate with her biological mothers name. Unfortunately she had passed away, but to see a photo of my grandmother was crazy, because my mum was a SPITTING image of her and I think that helped my mum in some way - knowing someone out their looked like her. She also found out she had a half-brother. Haven’t yet found her biological father - her mother and father didn’t stay together - but I’m sure I’ll find him eventually.
Everybody is Ashkenazi-Jewish in some part, on this show. Taking into consideration that Poland had the largest Jewish diaspora in the world for centuries - from the Middle Ages till the 1700s (before the United States was created). And after the birth of the US, Poland had the second largest Jewish diaspora before WWII, plus, the fact that The US Jewish diaspora actually started from Polish Jews emigrating to the New York area, it is very possible that GRRM's real grandfather was a Polish Jew. Polish and Jewish people are everywhere, literally. 😂
What an amazing and Beautiful 😍 act of Love. Andy doing this all so his mom can have answers not him... well that is what unconditional Love really looks like. May they have a ton of new memories and moments, with their new family❣ Much Love
As the daughter of an adoptee, we're probably more curious about our parents' past than our parents are. They have had a lifetime to come to terms with adoption whereas most of us didn't learn about it until late childhood/early adulthood so we remain curious about who our distant family was.
At 15:48 the sentence under „opera singer“ mentions Rostock (a Place in Northern Germany) and that´s where I was born and raised and where I live at the moment! Really cool coincidence!
"I remember a man throwing me in the air when I was very little. He stands as tall as the sky, and he throws me up so high it feels as though I’m flying. We’re both laughing, laughing so much that I can hardly catch a breath, and finally I laugh so hard I wet myself, but that only makes him laugh the louder. I was never afraid when he was throwing me. I knew that he would always be there to catch me." That's a quote from Mya Stone, one of Robert Baratheon's bastards. I can't help but relate that to GRRM's story about his presumed grandfather throwing him up in the air. George said that for him it was a terrifying experience, while for Mya it was exhilarating. It seems like George really took to heart one of his example's words, which were that a writer should always "bleed on the page", to use their own true experiences for the stories they're writing. Fascinating to apparently learn about one of those in this video.
So GRRM was writing about his own life subconsciously? The photograph with the skin tones is like Ned looking at the hair color of the Baratheons, haha. That's wild.
True. I was also thinking when Andy said "it's all very clean" that just because they'd found lineage doesn't mean it rules out alternatives. But it was nice to see the photo of them on a date & hearing how they met at the 'hangout' sounds like evidence for a more consentual encounter & potential relationship. But we don't know things like if he knew she was pregnant for example. Although holding on to the photo makes it seem like he likely did & it was a part of his past he wanted to remember.
Don't know why, but I bawled my eyes out when I saw Andy Samberg's grandmother's face. There are so many people in my family I would have loved that I'll never meet.

I am of Italian descent, I moved back to Italy after 116 years of my ggp’s emigration. To their village. I love how everyone wants to be Italian! ❤️🇮🇹
India was the key to Andy's mom finding out her family!!
The resemblance between Andy and his grandfather was so nuts, right down to the glasses and the outfit.
Wow they actually had a picture of their dad with an unknown woman who turned out to be Andy's mom's mom! Incredible!
Imagine getting a call from Andy Samberg like, "Hey, were related!"
So very happy for Andy’s mother! She looks like the sweetest person ever
The clip with Andy’s mom saying “Yayyy!” at the end put a tear in my eye..awww ❤
It's cool that Andy's mother came back to where she was conceived unknowingly.
Andy always makes me smile because of his comedy, but this whole time I couldn't stop smiling at the sweetest little story I've heard in a while. Great work! And thanks for the upload.
cool, cool, cool, no doubt, no doubt.
this is truly awesome for Andy and his mother + family. so glad that the mystery is finally solved.
Toight.
so Andy can makes me cry for 1 hour then... well done guys your hard work with your experts connected again the blood across the time and the ocean happy for your mom she finally got her answers and you too sicilian Andy ;
So beautiful. I really wish Andy’s mum could have been there while this was revealed because it was so much more about her search for belonging than anyone else’s.
What an amazing series! Watching the photo of Andy’s grandparents on a date was so unexpected and wonderful. Thank you for sharing this! 😀✨
I'm really happy for Andy's mum! ❤️ It's really satisfying to finally know your roots, specially when you've been searching for that your whole life!
roots are not everything we are.
@@louvretreekay12_ No, they're not; there are many other aspects to a person. And many adopted people consider the parents who adopted them their roots. But there's no shame in wanting to know about your biological relatives, just like there's no shame in not having an interest in them at all. The adopted person can decide what he/she prefers.
@@jacovanwyk4824 shame? Why should there be shame?
I didnt even say the word.
But theres no logic in my humble opinion in wanting to know someone who not only i mever knew, but also will not feel affection just because we look alike.
Then lookalike actors would be brothers.
@@louvretreekay12_ As you run the course of life, sooner or later, you find out that "logic" is a very personal thing. It can be fascinating and equally irritating. But that's humans for you.
@@alicemi4155 im not sure how this was connected to my answer but ok i guess? 🤔 😂
“Wait, let me guess again 20 billion”🤣🤣🤣
I had goosebumps when I saw Andy with his mom meet their lost Maida Family...amazing! I am lucky to have a complete family tree starting from my Great Grandfather (father side) in our clan...
What a beautiful episode. So happy for Andy's mother! She really deserved to find her family after all those years searching for them :)

Yes, I remember that documentary
I've recorded that documentary. It seemed interesting although nothing surprising to me. They all had simmilar tastes and simmilar attitudes yet were different although looking alike. They even liked the same type of women to marry.
I saw clips of dat on UA-cam
Andy looks both Italian and Jewish so it makes sense.
Rr martin does not look Italian at all so it also makes sense.
They are always so excited when someone is from Italy because Italians keep them records 😂
It's so unbelievable how they can research and do so much out of thin air. Amazing.
Such painstaking and holy work. Unbelievable and so touching. Can’t believe they found her birth parents and half brothers. I’m blown away
Andy and his grandfather look so much alike. This is amazing.
Very touching stories! It was delightful that the woman found her birth family. What a treasure.
Wow that was beautiful. That entire show was just so wholesome. What an amazing team who managed to track down Andy's entire extended family. Well done guys!
GRRM's family history was basically Robert and Cersei's story..... *and he didn't even know about it.*

I knew someone had to have left this exact comment 👀🤣
this is so lovely- thank you for sharing! We came to Australia in 1970. from Chile.... (our ancestros are European: Austro-Hungarian, Croatian Italian) so difficult to find family due to wars...but watching this..I am looking forward to any connections my sister finds with the Geanology society
Andy's episode was one of my favorites of all time. So fascinating...and that photo was incredible.
When they reveal Andy's grandfather's picture and he looks exactly like Andy x,D
I love Andy Sambery more and more everytime I see him
Andy looks very emotional here and it made me cry.
jeez andy's glow up is BOMB 😍
I knew that he would always be there to catch me."
That's a quote from Mya Stone, one of Robert Baratheon's bastards.
I just got to know about this show through John Oliver and I am fascinated
Same. :D Love it.
So GRRM was writing about his own life subconsciously? The photograph with the skin tones is like Ned looking at the hair color of the Baratheons, haha. That's wild.
Haha George's grandfather pulled a G. RR Martin plot twist on the whole family lol.
Andy's story made me so emotional, I'm so happy for his mom!
George’s grandmother may have gotten pregnant as the result of non consensual sex. Let’s not assume that Grace cheated.
She would have told her husband.
You are so correct. The husband may have noticed that his son wasn’t his because they look so different, hence left the house.
I think the ancestry team does not want to told something like that on camera
oh give me a break..😅
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a video on UA-cam that I’ve enjoyed more. Being of Italian background, Andy always reminded me of my Italian cousins.
Don't know why, but I bawled my eyes out when I saw Andy Samberg's grandmother's face. There are so many people in my family I would have loved that I'll never meet.
that last photo was so heartwarming i'm so happy for them
Resemblance for Andy’s mom? Broo…… he looks basically like Andy! Lol yayyy
This is amazing. wish all reality tv was like this
That was moving. I'm in awe 😍 so happy for Andy and his mother .Amazing amazing
I already knew Andy had Italian in him! It’s so obvious 😂
I loved that documentary ! I don't know the show (I'm french), but it was so nice! The host is captivating, I love Andy Samberg and it was so heartwarming to discover his journey with him !
51:47 "Visual evidence of a relationship which may have lasted for months, or for weeks, or for no more than this one evening-but which altered so many lives." Chills. Crazy how a single night can change everything.
The fact that he kept that picture makes me think it wasn't just one night.
Imagine casually finding out Andy Sandberg is your cousin. Bless those brothers for being so warm and search the album and giving her the photos.
Beautiful stories. I wish I could have my mystery great grandfather investigated!
What an absolute credit Andy is to his parents! Seems so ‘normal’!
I wish i could know George's grandma, the way he talks about her is so nice.
Wow Ive only found this programme in the last two days, it is incredible. Out of this world. The detail. And how they have a book of all of the research. how lovely.
One of my favourite episodes.
Amazing that they were able to find all of the answers and reveal the whole story about the Samberg/Maida ancestry
Amazing how Andy’s the spitting image of his grandfather
This is SO beautiful made ME sob at the end what an amazing ending
This show is so much more deep and helpful than who do you think you are it’s just amazing LOVE it
Me too! How special that picture of her parents together must be to her!!
That was so heartwarming!!! I’m so happy for Andy and his mum🥺 that made me cry it was such a sweet story and this was the best episode wowwww!!!!! I’m so so happy for them🥰 also Andy is the sweetest like 😩😭 I loved this so much☺️
Imagine Andy Samberg shows up at your family dinner and is like „hey it‘s your long lost cousin“ how cool is that
Beautiful, amazing, I had a little cry.
Professor you and your team are astounding.
