I agree with your descriptions. I've been comparing these by wearing one on each arm, too. Bake is a zesty sweet bakery gourmand, whereas Devotion is more of a creamy sweet floral. They are slightly similar in the dry down IMO but different enough for me to keep both 😂. Thanks for sharing!
I think Bake is just the higher quality ingredients version of the same idea. To me though the Bake is more of a lemon rind/zest and more airy and woody, where Devotion is definitely a candied lemon and a denser lemon cake vibe (it smells exactly like the starbucks lemon poppy cake imo). But i recently tried Unknown Pleasures and i find that it is even more similar to Devotion than Bake honestly, just a smidge more balanced in the opening and a bit darker in the drydown. I compared all 3 side by side and on my skin they’re all similar but Unknown Pleasures and Devotion are def the closest. However, i do think Bake does take the lead in terms of smelling more high quality.
I Adore Devotion just because its ISNT a full on gourmand since im not really a gourmand person but i love sweet, warm scents with some kind of contrast🥰
Wonderful video! I fell head over heels for Devotion and bought it on the spot (I know I know). The honeymoon phase ended quickly because in our hot and humid climate I barely get 3 hours of wear. I started layering it with bianco latte, which helps a little. To me it smells like citrus infused cake in Italy, or orange-cardamom bundt cake that I make for special occasions. Not sure that I would repurchase Devotion due to the lack of longevity for me, but I adore the scent. Maybe I'll try Bake when I run out of Devotion.
I’m partial to Devotion; I live in a hot climate and it feels more wearable most of the year for me. I can’t really do many gourmands in the AZ summer 🔥🔥🔥. Plus, I am finding myself getting tired of the heavy gourmands even now in the winter 🤷🏼♀️ great comparison I agree 100%
I’ve never tried Bake but I love love love Devotion! I’ll have to pay attention next time to see if I notice the orange blossom ☺️. It’s fascinating how everyone interprets scents differently. Love your channel!
Yes, Devotion for me is also totally Orange blossom or even more white blossoms in the heart, but well blended with all the gourmand notes. Quite an original for a designer imho. For me as someone who is very much into the perfume game I get also a lot of Lira or L/Lempicka in it.
I haven’t gotten my nose on Bake just yet but, Devotion has been an easy reach during the transitional weather. Great comparison of these scents. Thanks for sharing!!
I agree, but the orange blossom disappears in like 15 minutes and your left with a lovely subtle smell of orange custard ( not lemon in my opinion) yumm
Those sound so wonderful, especially the candied lemon in Devotion, but I love full-on gourmands, too. I enjoy the showdowns. Have a wonderful weekend, Chris! ~Cynthia
As always you have given a beautifully complete description of both these fragrances! Devotion sounds like the one I would like best! You look fantastic! Enjoy your weekend!
Totally agree with you! Bake is a gorgeous perfume.. I've tested devotion and have the same "conclusion", I don't like devotion, the mix of "orange blossom" and "citrus" is not doing it for me.. The orange blossom note used in devotion is too sirupy sweet, with a "generic smell" that I do no enjoy personally.. It's not that I hate it, but I dont love it and to me bake is a hundred times better imo...
I have a small bottle of Devotion and a sample of Bake. I love them both. They are different enough for me to own both. I love this type of video though! I’m always trying to compare similar scents so I don’t have too much duplication in my collection. Except for vanillas. I want them all! 😂
Excellent run down Chris. I really relate to your description of orange blossom and how it can be a little too much. I love them both after finally testing Devotion in store. I’ve also decided I will no longer buy multiples of the same or very close fragrances so I will use my decants and that’s good enough for me.❤
Hi Chris! 😊 I went back-and-forth between the two of these and decided that I liked Akro Bake the best! Of course I’m a gourmand-y so it fits! 😊I will probably get it towards Spring/Summer ! Happy Holidays and happy weekend to you! 🎄😊❤️
My first sniff of Devotion was all orange blossom. The next two times I got orange candy/ orange creamsicle. I like it, but definitely prefer Bake. And loving your sweater!
Awww - you are an essential oil enthusiast. I love how you have them in your basement. Mine are all over my home. I love how you made your candles. I need to sample Bake other than on a paper tester. I have Devotion which is very “safe” and delicious.
I used to make all sorts of hand made goodies like soy candles, soaps, bath bombs, salts, etc. so my basement is dark and cold because I live in an old house. They store well. ❤️
Two of my faves this year, but it's Bake for the win for me. I love that you can wear it in winter or summer. Devotion is beautiful but a little cloying in the heat.
I held on Baked because I have Lemon Tart (and I'm a big big Theo Kalotinis fan). But when Devotion dropped, I went for 50 ml and I like it for what it is. It fades out on hour 4-5 for me too.
I really do like your head to heads. When you did meliora versus amethyst, you were spot-on. I initially thought that amethyst was a dupe for meliora so I decided to stick with amethyst when my meliora ran out. After using amethyst for about a month, I started craving for and eventually purchasing meliora again . Don't get me wrong, I love amethyst and use it when I want something a little more sharp and full of berries. But it was until I watched your head to head that made me really put things in perspective and yes you were right.
Hey thanks so much for this feedback and comment!!! I think Amethyst is a great release and nice sister to Meliora but I’m like you…Meliora for the win.
Omg! I bought Bake in the summer and thought it was a BB mistake! It was just too much, then Devotion came out in early fall and I BB it and did not like it! Then, went to purchase some items and Sephora and sprayed it on again; let me tell you that it smelled divine and repurchased! Lol!!! Then a few weeks ago went into the dark cabinet; aka as my perfume collection and revisited Bake and Omg it smells spectacular in our cold Chicago weather!! Creamy sweet lemon vanilla cookies!!! Love you channel! Happy Holidays beautiful lady! I know it’s long, but it was my birthday week and I purchased PDM Althair! It’s a huge love!!!
Oh my gosh, I was just reading a comment on reddit about these 2 fragrances and wanted to try them! Already working on a sample of Bake and I quite like it. Hearing Devotion was similar made me want to try it. I'm interested to hear your thoughts~ C:
I wanted to love Devotion, and I absolutely like it lots. But my Akro decant is being blazed through with alarming speed. I will perhaps do a side by side as you did, and see what really works best on my skin over a real day.
Your comparison is right on. I love them both, but I think im leaning a bit towards Devotion, because I usually prefer a floral gourmand over a literal gourmand.
I totally agree girlfriend!! 🙌🏼🥰 I've tried Devotion three times and the orange blossom has been so prominent all 3 times.. which sometimes can lean medicinal (*to me) I'm thinking it just might not be for me.. (*So Far!!!!) I never say never with perfumes because I've changed my mind time and time again! 😅😉 lol I had my sister with me one day when I tried it and I held my hand to her nose without telling her what to expect, and she instantly exclaimed lemon cleaner! I always assume I'd like Bake because even though I liked Lira, it was just too thickly sweet for me and I feel like Bake would be a bit less "heavy" 🤷🏻♀️ 😊
Excellent comparison of the two fragrances👌👌. I have Devotion and it was love at first sniff for me💛💛. If the lemon peel from Bake is not sharp then that sounds very appealing to me😉😉. I’ll see if I can get a sample or decant somewhere🤔🤔. Stay gorgeous 🥰🥰
Olivier Cresp is a gifted nose! He’s got so many (376 according to Fragrantica as of today). I have Loverdose, Angel, Midnight Poison, Light Blue, Modern Muse (EL), Elysees (Guerlain) and Black Opium. I want to get Yum Pistachio Gelato 33, BTSO Dirty Rice, Replica From the Garden and Mercedes Benz Club Black.
Hi Chris! I smelled and tested Devotion in Ulta and it’s lovely but not for me. And for what you are sharing about Bake I probably would feel the same way. 😘
Chris, I guess we actually do have a difference in opinion since you like Devotion! I absolutely cannot stand Devotion! There's something in Devotion that makes me feel so sick, and it has kept me from wanting to try Bake. Of the perfumes that are compared to Bake, I actually love Xerjoff Lyra and I think that is going to be the one in this genre for me.
Great comparison Chris. I've not tried Devotion and have only recently got samples of Bake. I like it but funny enough for now I want to park foody gourmands so I'll probably buy Akro's Ink ahead of Bake. I look to future head-to-heads videos.
Thanks, Chris. I am going through two decants of Bake, and was wondering about picking up Devotion with the Sephora 20% off fragrance event that's going on. I think I'll forget about Devotion and pull the trigger on a bottle of Bake. I know you can get a 30 ml on the Akro site (at least I was able to get a 30 ml of Awake), and I don't need more than 30 ml of anything. I did briefly smell Devotion a short time ago, but decided just to pass the sample on. It was fine, but apparently didn't speak loudly enough to me. Anyway, great comparison review!! Thank you.

Thank you for the very informative video! As you mentioned, you are decluttering your collection, so I am wondering if you are selling on Mercari or Poshmark. If this is the case, could you please share your page? TIA
I dont get the hype on Bake. I just got my sample and it literally smells lile bitter lemon rind for the first few seconds and then lemon is gone. Drys down to smokey tobacco on my skin. Nothing gourmand or cakey about it.😢
To me devotion smells like a Orange creamsicle and Bake smells like a lemon tart. Love them both!
Awesome! Thanks for your thoughts!!

Thank you for the very informative video! As you mentioned, you are decluttering your collection, so I am wondering if you are selling on Mercari or Poshmark. If this is the case, could you please share your page? TIA
Thanks for dropping by!! I just added a link to my Mercari page to this video. 😉❤️
A lovely comparison. 🍋 Is layering it with Awake out of the question? 🤔☕ Call it "Cafe Tart" 😉Prrrrrrrr 😂
😂😂😂May I volunteer you for that??! Report back! ❤️
Not to go off topic, but what candles are in the red holders back there??
Sure! Sand and Fog Golden Nutmeg. They are amazing!!!
What about bake compared to lemon tart? 🎉
Lemon Tart has a touch of soapyness and something that smells like yogurt. So not quite as vanillic esp in the first part.
I don’t mean a video I just wondered which one you liked better. I love a sweet lemon. Like fresh sugared lemon.
Oh … which do you like better…. Bake or Lira? I imagine Bake performs better?
Bake is a lighter “lighter” Lira has a density to it. Bake on medium (I spray on clothes also) is soft but does outlast Lira (which is also gorgeous)
That’s what i was saying, Bake it’s better.
Yea it’s more “me” also
I dont get the hype on Bake. I just got my sample and it literally smells lile bitter lemon rind for the first few seconds and then lemon is gone. Drys down to smokey tobacco on my skin. Nothing gourmand or cakey about it.😢
How does Bake compare to Lira?
Bake lasts much longer. It’s a little less dense, but lasts longer. Lira on me, is gone in 2 hours:
I’m hopelessly devoted to DEVOTION.
Awesome!!💛💛
Does anyone know how bake compares to lemon tart from theodoros kalotinis ? 🥹
To me, Lemon Tart has the slightest bit of a soapy touch and yougurt-y
@@ThePerfumeNest thank you ❤️❤️
