    Luckily I was able to find the cause of Saturday’s Pinsetter failure. It was the magnetic clutch as I thought. Hopefully you’ll get a kick out of my edit Give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment, but most of all subscribe to my page and share it around!

    This is the complete opposite on how stuff works in the garage door industry. If the clutch is too smooth it won't slip, it will just keep going until something breaks, all we do is just scrape it against the floor to roughen it up. Nice video!

    • @GarageBowlingAlley
      @GarageBowlingAlley  3 роки тому

      It is kind of backward. But the 2 pieces have to be able to spin feeely up against one another but there was a big metal chunk binding up inside which completely stopped them from moving freely when needed.

      @@GarageBowlingAlley yeah I get what your saying. The main thing I'd if the clutch isn't rough theres less friction and it wont slip easily, but if theres too much it can completely jam it up or it will constantly slip

    Back in 1982 when I worked at a bowling center one night the magnetic clutch quit on one of the lanes during men's league. I had to stand and turn the pinwheel by hand through two leagues. The next day it felt like I had a heart attack my arms were totally wore out.

      Next time that happens, just put a screw between the mag clutch and pin wheel belt drive hub. And it will work. How ever take a few pins out of machine to avoid turn pan jams.

    The fun one is the cross conveyor belt! If you put it on wrong (and there are a lot of twists and turns) you can run the conveyor backwards! I know because I did that on my first time replacing it!

    • @GarageBowlingAlley
      @GarageBowlingAlley  3 роки тому +1

      It’s part of one but I forget which. The detector rod on the deck lift shaft is connected to the detector and at 90 degrees a quick mechanical reading occurs telling the detector to go a standing pin cycle or set a full rack Or if an out of range has occurred.

    • @izzynutz2000

    Glad it was a somewhat easy fix. Well cheap fix anyway, didn't have to buy parts. How about a video on how to adjust the deck so the pins are on spot. I would assume there is a adjustment for each pin?

    • @GarageBowlingAlley
      @GarageBowlingAlley  3 роки тому

      There is no way to adjust one pin over another. There are 2 spotting fingers and a deck roller per pin. As long as your roller is good and both spotting fingers aren’t bent, then you adjust the deck cable if the pins aren’t standing upright in the bucket on the way down to set on the lane. If the fingers are good, roller is good, the pins should stand upright. If not then adjust the deck cable til you get that best situation. Once you have that mastered you looses the 2 big bolts on each side where the posts mount to the deck. They’re slotted do you can move the deck til you get things on spot. If you can’t get them on spot then you’ll have to loosen the 4 mounts on the kickback and scoot the frame. At 270 you should have an even gap all 3 points of the moving deck and the pin deck. I can’t remember but it’s close to an inch and a half to 2 inches. Adjunct the 2 Allen screws at each mount to raise one portion of the machine over the other. This would be a great video. I’ll do one on this. After all is said and done, if you adjust the height you need to do a strike cycle, standing pins cycle and an out of range cycle to make sure you didn’t throw that off adjusting the height. If so you need to slightly adjust the detector rod to compensate. I’ll do this video one day this week. Thanks for the idea !

      I’ve seen crazy stuff like that. A few weeks ago in league the rake swept and must have released at 180 as it got behind the pin deck. The machine set pins for first ball then the rake sprung loose. 10 pins went flying up the lane. Luckily for the Pinsetter it didn’t happen again.

      @@GarageBowlingAlley happend to me once to but I think it was my fault. I was going for a 7 pin and I missed in the right gutter right where the masking unit support was and hit either the sweep or something else is there and the machine came down as the sweep was sweeping the pins and about 5 pins got to the foul line when the sweep came back to 90 degrees and just stayed there. Got moved a lanes and took the mechanic an hour to fix it
