    Instruction For Manually Change The Boot Device in BIOS
    *************************************************************
    To manually change the boot device in the computer BIOS, follow these two steps:
    Step 1: Restart the computer and press the designated key (usually F2, F1, F8, F10, F11, F12, or Del) when prompted to enter the BIOS.
    Step 2: Navigate to the 'Advanced Settings' or 'Boot Priority List' section and locate the current boot disk in the priority list. Change the order so that the new disk is set as the priority #1. Remember to save the settings before exiting the BIOS.

    the "totally free" version is windows own image backup and restore....
    works with bitlocked encrypted drives... at no extra charge...
    nothing else to download (there are some cloning software that continue to consume PC resources later)...

    In my experience Macrium Reflect is the best for Windows. It’s not free but it’s best in class. You don’t need any extra programs or partition editors, it does it all. Clone or image and restore to the new drive and you’re done.

    My new NVMe M.2 1T drive was outside my laptop in a USB-C enclosure. My laptop only has room for one MVMe. The Hasleo Backup Suite would not work in that configuration. I was told to download WinToUSB, also free, but I do not understand why the Backup Suite doesn't include that capability. Since my destination drive was a Samsung NVMe M.2 I just used the Samsung migration software. Worked flawlessly, very fast and no need for AOMEI.

    Just use the Windows 7 Complete System backup, included in windows 10.
    - Make a complete system backup onto an external USB drive.
    - Make a Windows 10 Install USB
    - Remove old hard disk
    - Install New Hard disk.
    - Boot using Windows 10 USB Install disk
    - Select "Repair Your Computer"
    - Select "Troubleshoot"
    - Select "System Image Recovery"
    -Select the back up you created earlier.
    On a small 120gb hard disk, it should complete in probably 30 mins. Once it reboots, go into disk maintenance and expand the c:\ partition to use the entire partition. One of the benefits of this process is the old hard disk is a backup of the old system, and there is no risk of overwriting it if you have the old disk removed from your computer when you are restoring the backup.

    Worked perfectly just using Hasleo Disk Clone. Free and fairly easy to use. Just what I was looking for to move my Windows 10 to a larger drive. If this is what you are looking to do, do not click 'keep partition layout' as this will stop you moving the partitions around, which is what you need to do when moving to a larger drive.

    Is it normal that the cloning stucks in 99%?
    It done up to 99% in 9 min and now its 41 min!

    • @WindowsTips101
      @WindowsTips101  Рік тому +2

      It's not normal. There are a couple of reasons it get stuck: 1. Error on the source disk or destination disk. You may want to try a command chkdsk c:/f and this command SFC/scannow to check for error before trying again. Additionally, you may want to run Disk cleaning up, Malware Scanning, Reduce unnecessary startup processes 2. Bad cable. You may want to try different SATA cables. 3. Hasleo Disk clone's bug. Try to reinstall it. After all those preparation, if it does not help, then try other solution - AOMEI Backupper standard to backup Windows os to an image file, then recover that image to the new SSD (see my previous video on how to do it).

      If both computers are identical and Windows license is not an OEM version, one solution is to boot up the old computer, connect the M.2 drive via USB port (using an M.2-to-USB converter), copy the source HDD to an external M.2 HDD. After that, connect the M.2 drive to the new computer and boot it up. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, but it's essential to test it out. However, if two computer are entirely different (one with legacy bios and the other using UEFI, and the Windows license is OEM, this method may not work.

      @WindowsTips101  10 місяців тому

      You can manually create a new partition on your old HDD, then move all of your data to this partition. Leave only OS and application on C drive. Before starting the disk copy process, you can leave this partition out (don't select it).

    I'm curious if I upgrade my NVME could I migrate my OS to my HDD then transfer back over to new NVME once installed?

    • @WindowsTips101
      @WindowsTips101  6 місяців тому

      Yes, it's possible to migrate your OS from your current NVMe storage to your HDD temporarily and then transfer it back to the new NVMe once installed. However, it's important to use a reliable software for the migration process. Make sure to create backups of your data before proceeding with any migration to avoid potential data loss.

    I haven't deleted my old drive, because I am afraid I will lose something. But I need the space. Is it enough to delete partitions only? Or do I need to wipe the old drive to use it as a data drive? Thanks..

    • @WindowsTips101

      You can delete a partition or all partition as long as you keep a backup of your data, for example on an external hard drive.

      @@WindowsTips101 Thanks. But is it safe to directly delete the partition? Since I've already cloned my Windows on a new drive. I currently using my new 2TB SSD for boot, and When I tried to delete all partition from my old 512GB SSD which now still has OS on it using AOMEI, it says "Partition is being occupied by other program" and gives me the option to "restart Windows in PE mode". What should I do? I really want to clear my old drive. And by the way both of these SSD are installed on my motherboard.
      Thanks again and sorry for asking too much questions.

    • @WindowsTips101
      @WindowsTips101  6 місяців тому +1

      @merahjam_Buu if there is no valuable information or data on those partitions on old hard drive, you can directly delete them. You can boot with new hard drive even though the old hard drive is removed from the computer, right? If AOMEI does not allow you to do it, you can uninstall it or use other program, for example booting into Safe Mode and delete from there using Windows Disk Management or using DiskPart utility to delete the partition on your old SSD. Hope this helps.

      I switched from Windows to Linux fully in 2016. Before that I had tested and learned Linux from 1995 to 2016. Back in 1995, Linux was only good for file server and mail server. But things changed over the years. I am also unhappy that it was NT and not OS/2 that won it. OS/2 were such a great system for its time.

      How about taking a look at hirens boot cd or ubcd? They have all the good stuff on them. I even managed to unlock a HDD years ago, that had the master password activated. You know, that encrypted password, that once the bit is set, then pretty much only the factory can reset. But I did manage to reset it. The pain was to get the machine to post, because when the drive password is set, it will prevent the machine to post. Also, the tools do not work through USB.... So what to do? My secret. 😁
