I came across to this on Prime, my first expectations were 1) of course madilim ang lighting and 2) could be boring, pangit. But to my surprise... to be honest, I like it! I like the fact when it comes to SFX, "In My Mother Skin" doesn't have much jump scares na usually present in all Pinoy Horror genre, pero sobrang natatakot ako every time biglang lilitaw na lang sa corner yung engkantadang itim played by Jasmin Curtis, my gosh she's so good in this movie. Kasi it's the type you didn't expect, even the way she approached and walk towards the girl my gosh tumindig balahibo ko sa kanya. Yung wala siyang masyadong sinasabi but her gazed is so hauntingly good; Tapos when it comes to lighting, I think I'll pass for this one kasi I understood that the setting of the plot was World War II sa liblib na mansion sa gubat. So yeah what more can we expect..... I remember my Lola telling me stories of WW2 sabi niya nasa kuweba talaga sila at kailangan they don't light as much as possible to avoid detection from Japanese soldiers. So it is very understandable why it needs darkness. Also, this movie kahanay niya sa lists ay mga foreign movies, I've learned that Amazon Studios execs upon watching this from Midnight section of Sundance Festival, acquired the global rights to the film right away. I hope this movie would be nominated for Golden Globe if only most Filipinos believe to our own homegrown talents and creative style. We don't have to refer from foreign movies, we have to believe to ourselves and embrace our uniqueness and culture.
Another thing I like about the film, is that realistic portrait of the culture when prayin in spanish and the design of the fairy so catholic like is gorgeous!! It makes me want to now more about the folklore and how was this all story inspired. I feel so entangled emotionaly between sadness, disgust, anger, hope, and curiosity.

Looks decent, but also looks like they just copied many aspects of horror movies from almost 20 years ago; the obvious being Pan's Labyrinth from 2006 and The Grudge from 2004 (which was an American remake of Ju-on from 1998), but also Goodnight Mommy from 2014 (which had an American remake in 2022).

A folk lore based again❤❤❤❤ Kampo was successful they based it on another folklore the Amaranhig sino ba nmn nasabi na hindi papatok angokal folklores natin sino ba nag pauso na gumawa ng rip off from the international scenes well this movie says it all it's not shake rattle and roll I think this will be better than shake rattle and roll extreme definitely the movie is a complete bust like hell a no from episode 1 to 3 the movie is bullocks rip off ideas man!
Yes, the purpose is to deceived the girl who hailed from a very religious family and also thought she was some sort of a saint or fairy because ang ganda ganda niya nga naman very ethereal ang beauty, soft spoken. Kahit ako sa umpisa, I thought naghihimala siya until when she visited the kid in her bedroom, naku po nakakatakot yung tingin ni Jasmin Curtis. Ang galing niya rito sa movie, yung wala siya masyado sinabi pero yung tingin niya at smile niya, nakakatindig balahibo.

Palaging ganun na kapanahunan in the past ekek. May scene about candy na complete non sense. I stopped, cant finish.

I haven't watched it yet. I do agree that the trailer makes it look very similar to Pan's Labyrinth, which is one of my favorite movies.
