- The Pamir-Alay Mountain range in southern Kyrgyzstan boasts some of the most exquisite landscape in the entire Central Asian region. During day 2 of our trek in Kyrgyzstan, we leave Sary Mogol Village for more rugged terrain as we pass by craggy peaks, turquoise mountain lakes, and massive glaciers. Sary Mogol Pass sits at 4303 meters (14,117 feet) and was our highest altitude that day. After reaching the top of Sary Mogol Pass, Azi brought us down through another valley before reaching our campsite for the night.

Loved this one ... do you ever see any animals on your hikes? Laura ... you are a true Peters girl ... waving all the time!
Yes we totally ran across a bunch of marmots! Other livestock yak, cows, goats and what not are seemingly unkept and free roaming. They are owned by someone but they have a lot of space. I'm sure we will see more animals the more we hike there! And yes... Laura waves all of the time, even at inanimate objects 😆

I could imagine that would be the case, but I think they try avoiding this hike during the icy season. Safety first though, I'd say bring them!
