In case of engine stop it will drop like a stone to the ground. It's enough with one of the propellers stop working and the unbalance will cause a crash. It has no glide ratio without wings and the propellers can't autorotate like a helicopter rotor... I think it will remain a cool machine for show of at public events.
What makes this comment even better is that this machine is useless on grassy planes when compared to a wheeled vehicle because a vehicle with wheels can reach higher speeds for less energy. It’s basically exclusively made for terrain that wheels don’t work with

Great idea to improve this! Put the the blades above so you can't fall into them or dive them into the ground on landing. Infact when you put them above you can just make it onebig propeller because the person isn't in the middle. It would also improve stability. We could call it a helicopter I think that's a cool name

Plus couldn’t they have simply added metal over the top to cover the blades? It would work fine. And if a malfunction happened or it ended up tipping over, it would cut the officer or the blade might break off and hit someone. Even if it just runs out of gas, the officer might get startled and move a bit into the blades. That is an accident waiting to happen.
Can’t wait to see how this thing is developed. Imagine this thing with 10years of R&D from a manufacturer like Honda with its engineering abilities. Even I can see room for some very basic improvements.

From what I see something round 2 feet in diameter. 6 inches high. With the walls one inch thick. Top part of it covered with with holes in the metal. And the housing itself should be like strong aluminum. Should work will slow air flow a bit, but protect the operator.

A simple propeller protection is a very easy thing to make. It proves many engineers still wait bad things happen before improving the design.

Not sure how it translates at this scale but in rc quads adding hoops around the props alters the flight characteristics significantly.
Turbine engines, articulating ducts, the only way to go... but very expensive, like 50-100 times this craft.

To be quite honest, with the speed at which tech is evolving I believe we'll get some proper hoverbikes and hoverboards in about 20 to 25 years.
