By thinking about something else -- like your favorite pizza -- the working memory focuses on that and you'll be able to complete another task -- putting -- automatically. It's that automaticity that reduces choking. If you want to learn about how choking works scientifically, I suggest you read Sian Beilock's book, Choke. Or you can stay ill informed. Your choice 👍🏻
