In the first place , Taman Sri Muda(TSM) was built within Klang River natural FLOOD PLAIN. I was one of those involved in TSM feasibility done in 1987. Naturally it act as natural detention area (so called swamp)
Human greed came above everything and developed the area and now caused so call "flood" problem. It should not be built at all.
Another area is Section 13 Shah Alam (area of TTDI Jaya, MSU, Stadium and the vacinity) Originally is also a FLOOD PLAIN (swamp) . Yet it was filled up with earth and bulit...(people of my age knew the place well as we travel along the Federal Highway in those days)
No need to be an engineer or hydraulic specialist...FLOOD PLAIN is filled up thus narrowing the river flow without water detention area
WHO to BLAME?

Perhaps authorities should learn from the Netherland to impose developer conditions to mitigate flood when they submit their development proposal.
But it's Malaysia..MALAYSIA BOLEH!

Read between the line, if authorities imposed a lot of conditions to developer that cost a lot of money, the project wont be viable...so no development will take place. Malaysian developer is shrewd, cos of " gambar Agong" 😁 can buy everything/anything

The rapid development of Kota Kemuning and Kemuning Utama has turned Sri Muda into their water retention pool.
The developers should be held accountable for piggybacking Sri Muda drainage and irrigation system instead of developing their own.
If not mistaken tmn seri muda was meant as a flood retention pond before it was sold to be developed into a township just like Tropicana aman.

In 2007 Selangor state gov has started to develop a large flood retention area and drainage system known as Canal City, connecting Langat river and Klang river to this area (the whole Tropicana Aman and Eco Sanctuary), together with hybrid off river augmentation system HORAS.
But when Pakatan Rakyat wins the election back in 2008, theyd cancelled this project in 2011.
In 2013 State gov sell this land 474 hectares to Tropicana Corp = RM1.78m/hectare
In 2014 Tropicana Corp sell some part of this land 128 hectares to Eco World = RM3.7m/hectare (make profit RM243m in less than a year).
So here it is, welcome to Tropicana Aman And Eco Sanctuary

And I guarantee you that there were many under table deal to cause such a massive failure in town planning. The Selangor state government needs to take full responsibility for their failure to manage the state properly. I have voted for PH only once back in 2008 and 4 years later I have never voted for them since. These Pakatan Harapan goons are good at pushing the blame to BN but never once they own up to their own mistakes. And I said this many times to the people around me before, until those old scums like Anwar, LGE and LKS leaves PH, PH will never see my vote again. Selangorians really need to band together and teach PH a good lesson coming GE.
@@KC_88631 All in power irrespective of party affiliation are now millionaires or even billionaires while the ordinary folks suffer, I had lost most of my stuff in 1995-Dec flood and moved out of Tmn Sri Muda after that knowing very well that there will be another big one sooner or later and I am glad that I was right on my decision to move out
Karamsingh walia has been covering this stories quite frequent in the past. For long term safety, relocation is a better option but it all depends on the constituents. Repairing the damage wont be sustainable long term.
Fully agree, compensate the property owners of Tmn Sri Muda and offer them alternative, demolish all buildings then either use the whole area as retention pond for nearby housing estates or raise the ground by at least 3 meters and turn it into industrial estate or a park
Tmn Sri Muda was meant to be a flood basin wasn't it until someone allowed it to be developed into a housing area. I believe that person may have already served jail time for some other misdeeds

Such design of a drainage system was never worked in the first place in a low lie large pond where houses sit. The value of the houses in the flood zone will drop dramatically..

Heard that the Tmn Sri Muda housing project was not approved initially in the 1980s unless the ground is raise up by at least 2 meters, but somehow approval was given without raising the ground level, you can guess why it was then approved !!!

This area was used to be swallowed by flood in 1995.......so it was just an old incident......not a new issue.
I was literally swallowed by the flood in 1995. I moved out in 1998.

Sold my flat there and rented at Kota Kemuning. Didn't make money from the sale.
@@cb250nighthawk3 , Me too! Sold my compact 3 storey home at a loss of RM 20K 2 year after the 1995 flood, come to think of it, my losses would be much greater if I chose to stay in Sri Muda until now.

Poor planning which led to this recent disaster. For those who bought their properties with a mortgage, they won't be able to sell and move on to another property as no buyers will want to buy a property on a flood plane.
The government has to do something to improve the drainage system but I don't think the remedy will be available for the next few months.
In the meantime, charities and NGOs have to help these victims to cope with this disaster.

So it's not a natural disaster that caused the flood but more so due to "human error disaster". It was the same in Spore when it flooded last year, it was due to human error that caused the disaster. Failure by the govt to properly built an irrigation system to drain water out to sea as development & population grows.
And the chaotic pattern of rain...taxpayer money goes down the drain with the combination.
Now to solve the problem is to turn TSM into a giant retention pond and relocate the residents to a proper living area free from floods.
What about the pump capacity. Can it cope with the amount of rainfall????????

Natural pond usually will build sink hole or tunnel to nearest river, if u had watch dead sea. If a river is concreted, it prevent the river become bigger or deeper during the flood, lets the river run. If the pond is concreted, there is no sink hole, where it can keep more water..

Their appeal to the authorities have not been amswered...so many cases like this happening in Malaysia. The authorities not bothered about the matters affecting the rakyat. Sue them in court. We must hold them accountable and pilunished for not listening to rakyat woes.
Sri Muda ni sebenarnya dulu2 dibina untuk dijadikan empangan untuk tahan air ketika hujan. Tapi kroni2 developer beli tanah tu dari kerajaan untuk bina perumahan. Syarat kerajaan masa tu utk tambah tanah/pasir sblom bina perumahan tapi bahlol kroni2 ni x buat sume tu sebab gila duit. Kerajaan pon x pantau atau undertable je diam2. Last2 sume cuci tgn and rakyat yang kena. Rakyat o rakyat, lain kali kalau nak beli rumah tu, jgn tgk harga je, tgk dulu sblom perumahan tu dibina, tanah tu diguna utk ap.

Now it's not too late. All we need is same mind to solve the problems. Just ensure water diversion and mitigate the problems by nil development but more channels for water to run out to huge water retention tunnels to flow out as soon as soon as the additional water stops coming in. It's not rocket science but the authorities for concerted effort ie money and drainage projects and better management by authorities is the answer. Vote in the government who will do the project and residents to be involved in the management

I don't think its only water from surrounding area, it is also water from all the areas upstream along the Klang River
The area have been known to have flooding issue, and the previous BN gov have made the plan to make retention ponds. Of course no one could project how it could have mitigated the widespread flood but the fact is, the problem was being addressed, yet scrapped by opposition government. And they only say it will not help the rakyat bla bla without any remedial (similar) countermeasure.
I bet they were just busy discussing who should be the next PM almost every term, not the real issue of rakyat's problems

It is an avoidable situation caused by corruption, simple. Call up the planner, engineer, architect & developer, and the local council who approved the original plan. They will tell you what happened then. I am assuming that they are alive.

2. Who is approved the proposal of the Taman Sri Muda??
Because each of the “Developed & Proposal” are going throw the local state’s government, under the department of Township & Plan, after it’s goes to the department of Nature & Water to review and revises..
Of course at that time, they may not think nor expected the “Disastrous” shall be.. it took at less another’s 5-25 years, with developing surroundings. But the question are, are the engineers, town planer, & nature official lack of education or knowledge??? Coz the high officer usually are graduates overseas students which are more exposed to more of education.
For myself this is the question mingle in my mind..coz the government and public staff, are the back bone of the Nation. Not only on the political agenda but it is also to help the people of Malaysia. Batter and quality of living, earning and save.. But not it seem, the matters are not as its seem - coz human can’t fooled the nature.. its shall overturn .. in time to us back.. where you like it or not..
