This is called a rock dweller song because whether or a person was born after this came out it's been used so many times, if you haven't heard any part of it, that person has to have been living under a rock

"Eye Of The Tiger" was a monster hit, and to this day is one of the defining songs of the 1980s. It spent 15 weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 1982, including six weeks at #1, beginning July 24, 1982. This was enough to make it the #2 song of 1982, and the #4 song of the entire 1980s, according to Billboard magazine.
This song was featured on the Rocky III Original Motion Picture Score. Three and a half years later, Survivor was featured on the Rocky IV Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, with a song called "Burning Heart." "Burning Heart" wasn't as big of a hit as "Eye Of The Tiger," but was still big enough to be the #8 song of 1986, according to Billboard, having peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 on February 1, 1986.

Great song choice, too. This was an early 80s rock hit, a continuation of the arena rock of the 70s. This particular song was the theme song for Rocky III, which was one of the earliest appearances of Mr. T.

The lead singer Dave Bickler, one of many over the years, has had three different stints with Survivor. First left the band because of vocal issues and needing surgery and got fired the other two times. Fun Fact: Dave Bickler is also the singing voice in the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" radio ads. Interesting fact: Survivor wrote the song “Eye of the Tiger” for Rocky III. Rocky III introduced film audiences to not only Mr. T, but also Hulk Hogan.
Hogan had been wrestling for a number of years between the late 1970’s and early 1980’s which garnered Stallone to cast him in Rocky III; playing a wrestler who fight Rocky in a charity event.
After the film was released, Hogan would use “Eye of the Tiger” as his entrance theme. On January 23, 1984; 38 years ago, Hogan competed for and won the WWF World Title from The Iron Sheik….
…and Hulkamania was born.

You should try listening to Europe. The Final Countdown, Rock The Night, Cherokee, Carrie.....these are 80's classics. Please look into them
It's no wonder this song was on the soundtrack of a Rocky movie, it sounds like two boxers punching each other. You can't imagine it being played in connection with any other sport although I'm not a boxing fan. May I suggest you look up Jim Peterik(he's the one with long hair,glasses and playing the keyboard in this video) he cowrote/sang this song and others with Survivor, his current band Pride Of Lions and as a solo/collaboration artists. All his songs have an eighties AOR sound to them even though Pride Of Lions were only formed a few years ago. Also check out the late great Jimmi Jamison who was the bands second and last lead singer after replacing the lead singer in this video.

Super super cool for my age when it came out.
I used to train to this song. I was a boxer and this big Russian killed a buddy of mine, so I had to fight him to avenge my friend's death. It was nuts, dude was huge, but I had to beat him or my friend died for nothing. Then years later, I trained my friend's son to beat the Russian guy's son. Crazy!
