More than a decade without major construction on high rise buildings? This is inaccurate. St. Regis Chicago (1,198 ft), One Chicago (973 ft), 110 North Wacker (817 ft), River Point (732 ft), 150 N Riverside Plaza (752 ft) and more. All these have been completed btw. This video = 👎🏼
Bro this video has so many editing mistakes in it that it makes it hard to trust the info. Keeps showing rendering for the old spire site intermittently, wrong graphics that don't match what you're talking about, shows nuc trump tower instead of Chicago...
Ehhh… The St. Regis was completed in 2020. I don’t think “no major development in the past ten years” is accurate. But I’m looking forward to the rest of the list.
The sears tower was taller well past 08. Trying to claim the 88 story Petronas Towers were taller than 108 story Sears Tower because decorative“spires” is a gimmick at best. I’ll be amazed if the twin towers proposal ever gets completed. Sad every one of these is being reduced.
Unfortunately a few of these projects might not happen. East tribune was suppose to break ground by end of this year, it’s still a parking lot behind the tribune tower, just drove by it last night via the lower level street.
honestly... Chicago puts forth some of the best proposals and then they get to the point where they're almost gonna be built and then something happens. I don't see the skyline getting much larger than it is today. Chicago's building days are largely over as it becomes less significant.
St Regis was just complete a couple of years back. ANd several 700+ buildings were added to the skyline in the last 10 years. Also, most people underestimate Chicago because of the crime. They don't realize that Chicago saw almost 200 companies move to city in the last few years alone. Most companies care less about what happens on the South and West sides of Chicago.
@@GoldenMean743 Except that the crime is happening everywhere in the city. There's drive by shootings and carjackings on the North side where theres multi-million dollar townhomes.
@@TheJustin99 I looked up a few crime maps, and none back up what you're saying here. Also, statistically, the majority of violent crimes are still drug and gang related. After the failure of the Chicago Spire, the Tribune East Tower gives Chicago hope for a more modern look. Construction is slated to begin February 2024. Too many boxy shaped skyscrapers in Chicago, hopefully this design comes to fruition.

Build. BUILD!!!!
I'm so pleased to see all the projects going on in the city.
We need more
Born and raised in Chicago glad to see our city becoming world-class 😁
Chicago has been world class since the 1890's...
Chicago was top 3 between 1940s and 1960s
Never been to Chicago, but i know it's been a world class city
Yea it’s been a world class city since the 1800’s. We hosted the worlds fair in 1893.
Becoming? Lmao
Love Chicago. Greatest skyline in the world.
Lmfao good one
Keep dreaming…
Don't know if I agree with the greatest, but the Chi is the birthplace of modern American architecture.
@@GoldenMean743 definitely not modern lol
Definitely not the greatest in the world
The South Loop needs more tall buildings.
So does West Loop
Absolutely agree on both
They need taller buildings outside of the Loop as well. Cities like Toronto have multiple areas with high rises outside of downtown.
Nice video Chicago looks cool
Its' a very nice city, minus the crime.
Thompson center: plz be 2000+ feet tall. If yes!!! finally something taller!!!!
It got bought by Google and they are remodeling/refurbishing/updating it.
@@Andromeda3828 So they not building it
Calling The Sears Tower the Willis tower is blasphemous to an indigenous Chicagoan.
@aleja 💯.
In Chicago or Melbourne ha what's with the title
Yeah that got me confused
A decade? The St. Regis tower was just completed a couple years ago and that’s taller than most of the other buildings in Chicago
Its only a thousand feet hes talking about big ones over 1300

St Regis is a sight. It's also the tallest to be designed by a woman.
Go Chicago !!! 🇺🇸
Chicago! Chicago! Chicago! My kind of Town!!
why the title says Melbourne lol
OMG, I knew something looked odd....
what you should do at the end of every video is put a slideshow of skyline updated. cheers
It’s definitely my kinda town!!
Salesforce tower is 850 feet
Google bought the Thompson Center so I’m not too sure if it’s gonna turn into a skyscraper
agree, I do not think it will, I am confused now, guess this video is older than the date.... oh well...
It's a horrible building with all kinds of problems. It's going to take a lot to make that work.
Idk why they didn't just build the Spire.
Because the guy that invested in the building went bankrupt
2008 financial crisis
@@californiamade5608 oh yeah. Well why is Putin still alive?
You are missing a major tower in the tribune tower east. It is approved for 1422 feet
Did u not watch the video? Lol he has an entire part of the video dedicated to tribune east
as of 2/23 no activity on Trib East
U showed the trump tower in ny and said it was nearby so I think u meant to show a pic of the trump tower in Chicago
Dallas has some super tall towers that were just approved. Do a video for Dallas TX
Super talls lol. 850 feet isn’t a super tall
I doubt that Dallas has a height limit due to the proximity to it's airport

Did the first project get started in September?
I’m curious now too
Helmut Jahn wasn't in a car accident, he was killed by two vehicles while riding his bicycle
Chicago DUBAI Illinois 😂
Chicago now holds the record for worlds tallest building designed by a woman
Chicago needs new trains.

True but none of these are really as crazy tall as most of the towers that never were, like the spire.
