Having a whistle is pretty useless unless you can really put use to it in a live performance. Ariana's whistles are pretty weak live and she fakes it sometimes by singing in a high falsetto. Tori can hit the note but has yet to prove she can actually full on sing in that register. It's a nice skill to have but we can't use it as a means to call them better than other singers which is what their fans usually do. I think Tori has a stronger, more reliable whistle tone, however Ariana has proved she can sing in that register but very limited and not so reliable (she's been proved to lip some whistle notes in live performances).
Do you really think Ariana was up there, thinking "I should sing a little louder than Tori... I need them to hear me." I think not. I think they had both genuinely enjoyed singing the song together and had a good time performing side by side on stage. I don't believe either of them had any competitive spirits while they sang, and nobody's voice was truly trying to overpower anybody. Personally I'd buy a ticket to see Tori Kelly if she were singing into a tin can because I know she is going to wow me with her vocal technique and skill. Ariana still needs a lot of work on her technique and skill as a performer. Tori Kelly is skillful enough to adjust. You can put Tori Kelly at age 11 against Ariana at present age and Tori will still eat Ariana up. Lowering a key does not mean that your vocal riffs and runs become sloppy. If anything it would affect the pitch. I'm not trying to shade Ariana, but I get tired of people shading true talent. If tori sung off key and was half naked in a high budget video people who like her better.

I am going to two concerts this weekend and I know the crowd is going to drive me crazy because they always talk over the performer at the best moments of the concert. The same way a pitbull sense fear, is the same way fans sense a great moment and they are way to happy to ruin it.

Kelly does it so effortlessly, Ariana looks like it takes all of her to preform... lol and she looks awkward but rip to earphone user when Ariana comes out and they both have talent... tori's is just raw.
Ari had to work alot more cause the had to sing low notes so it wouldnt sound of ;) it also looks like it takes more of her cause she sings with her whole body.
Yeah Ariana always sounds kind of unnatural with a guitar. Acoustic doesn't seem to be her thing, she's always out of breath and out of alignment with the guitar

If anything listen to the choruses towards the end, Tori sings the main but whenever Ariana tries to take over she switches to the high harmony with no hesitation

Ariana has been the public I longer, she was on a tv show on a major network. People are more familiar with her. Ariana can sing sloppy off key and people who don't have a trained hear will love it. People who don't know shit about music tend to like her better because the industry pushes her out there. They are stuck on the fact that she has a hit song. Personally I'd buy a ticket to see Tori Kelly if she were singing into a tin can because I know she is going to wow me with her vocal technique and skill. Ariana still needs a lot of work on her technique and skill as a performer. Tori Kelly is skillful enough to adjust. You can put Tori Kelly at age 11 against Ariana at present age and Tori will still eat Ariana up. Lowering a key does not mean that your vocal riffs and runs become sloppy. If anything it would affect the pitch. I'm not trying to shade Ariana, but I get tired of people shading true talent. If tori sung off key and was half naked in a high budget video people who like her better.

My god why are people being so out of order. They have completely different voices & styles. Ariana didn't take away the stage from Tori you can clearly see she's holding back on her voice trying not to over power tori. tori did really well singing "right there" she sounded different, not like she was trying to sound like ariana at all. They seem like good friends just let it be, they are too different to compare
