Growing up in Houston i had the privilege of hearing Shake and Dana and i still have this album and still love this song and many others that they've sung and recorded. These songs can take you back but i still love listening to them today as much as i did when they were written. I believe that a well written song is timeless and continue to listen to them often. Its so hard to grasp that so much time has elapsed. It seems like yesterday!

Also, when I was going to Sam Houston State, Dana came up to play the student building one evening and just a handful of people showed that night. I guess it was a weeknight. So, what a treat! The show was intimate and laidback and many requests were honored. So, I asked Dana if he knew Pretty Boy Floyd (the outlaw) written by Woody Guthrie? and i was stunned when he said he believed that he did! And not only did he know the song, he k0m! song!
Written by Woody Guthrie, i believe,

My number ONE favorite song from Shake and Dana. When I want to go back in time, I go to Songs on the Radio.

Great memories, Texas Opry House on Richmond in Houston around 1977 or so...I believe John Vandivier (RIP) imparted the nickname from "Shakespeare"...Shake and Dana. Thank you for such great music.

I was there most years between 77 and 82. 1978 (or maybe 79?) was the best Kerrville experience I ever had, but they were all great. My girlfriend (later wife) and I living out of our VW bus for a few days, with both of our labs slurping all over us in the hot campground, meeting lots of freaky people, rain and heat/humidity at all the wrong times, and nights of magic on the big stage. It was at Kerrville that I'd first seen Shake, John V, Odetta, and also incredible performances by Townes and Joe Ely, with Nancy G. winning the New Folk one of those years. In later years, I got to see Shawn Phillips, Arlo, Judy Collins, Ruthie Foster and so many more.

I used to see Shake, Dana and John in Houston from the mid to late 70's and early 80's. I remember good Friday 1979, my house was burglarized and his album was on the turntable that was stolen. I lived in the Heights and Shake lived in Montrose across the street from my roommate's sister. He was really shy believe it or not.

What was the name of the club on Richmond in Montrose that had all these acts? I lived on Richmond at Chimney rock

@@edwinloeb7421 Texas Opry House was one of the clubs they often played in Montrose. If memory serves me right, it was on Richmond. The first time I saw Shake and Dana was there in 1976.

I used to follow them back in 1975 at the original Houlahans, then in the 80's, all over Houston. They actually played at my wedding in 1988 when the Denim and Pearls album came out. Still love them. Would love to hear and see more. Debbie, but went by Deborah Graham back then.

I was a big fan of Shake until I went to a concert he did a few years ago in Conroe, Tx. People were shouting out request and I asked for "Song on the Radio". He gave me a go to hell look . I guess that since Dana wrote it all those years ago, I insulted him by requesting it. Regardless, he lost me and my wife (also a long time fan sinse the 70's) as fans with the attitude he displayed.

When I was 10, he played a guitar upside down. That was how he often played. Left handed with a right handed guitar turned left 🤔🤔🤔...
It was on free access public cable ? in Houston.. like 74 76 ??

Wow, this really does bring back memories of Shake and John playing the old Wagon Wheel Saloon by Lake Conroe, unfortunately this was also the time when John and Deborah were murdered Great times and fond memories surrounded by grief. Parting back stage was a real blast and I still miss them.
