Goldfish actually have long lifespans (like 15 years), most people just don't know how to take care of them correctly, or choose not to because it's just a fish. Same with hamsters.

The dog thing is true! Had a dog for 13 years and when he died, i was sooo hurt still miss him. As for cats, my cats are sweet! lol we got 3 of them now, cause we originally had 14 at the same time 😅 and we had to get rid of them, cause no space but i was so sad trying to pick which ones to give up, cause they ALL had a bond with me and were all very sweet towards me.

I suppose a lot of people just expect immediate unconditional affection from cats, but that's how dogs usually work, not cats. I concur for the most part. I think cats that are mean are actually just neurotic because the owner isn't providing them with a safe environment. I've befriended stray cats off the street that are more respectful than most dogs or indoor cats.

One was obnoxious as hell but he was sweet. I was heartbroken after putting them down. Dogs really are family. No person will love you like a dog does. Cats will love you but they'll love you when they FEEL like it. After that they want to be left alone. But they're also independent animals. Dogs are NOT independent. Even the most independent dog is dependent. With the exception of 1 all of my animals lived to be 15 and 16 years old.

Also those cages with bars that are sold for hamsters...are REALLY BAD. 1 they are escape artists, 2 they may easily fall and hurt themselves, 3 they don't need multiple floors or to climb they need to burrow under bedding. Get a hamster a fish tank as a cage instead or something similar that's large, because the cages sold at stores for hamsters are WAY too small so...yeah I'm doubting his hamster was as happy as he claimed. Hamsters live 2 to 3 years and a lot of pet stores don't tell you how old they are. And as for Rabbits and guiena pigs are prey animals...yes fear and stress can kill them...which is why you need to be careful, but my guinea pig is 5 years old and has dealt with hurricaines and fireworks. Rabbits and guinea pigs aren't THAT fragile.
