- Boa tarde my dear friends, it was again so amazing to see all the progress during the last 2 weeks here at my Casa Bela Vista 🥰 Petrus was so pleased that he let the sun shine almost every day with a nice little bruise. Jorge and Vladimir enjoyed their little lake project and and could finish their master piece just last Friday. I love to see many animals visiting this natural water resource in the coming hot months. For me this project is a perfect demonstration for the principles of permaculture (sustainable or self sustainable gardening / Ökologisches gärtnern). Water from the roof veranda and the borehole is retarded to feed animals and plants and at the same time is creating a nice little biotope. Now the Plaza is finished with a new old long wooden table, painted lounge benches and framed by moonlight lamps, amphitheater and a little pond. Amazing! As a very special guest we welcomed a praying mantis ( Gottesanbeterin) sitting on one of the moonlights every morning, which is absolute stunning to watch 🥰

At the moment I don’t have intention to put fish in my pond, just want to observe what develops naturally over time….

You are so right Gabriela, so much looking forward to this. Thought about installing a camera to observe the animals smelling the water and come to drink during hot summer. This morning insane 6 praying mantis at the same time near the pond. 😇
The praying mantis looks like it has found it commanding place of the valley and beyond. What a view.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 🙏 I feel very happy in my new outside living room…🥰 the yellow plants that frames the entry to the plaza is called yellow trumpet flower and blossoms almost the entire year. It has a beautiful warm golden yellow color like the sun. It lives in harmony with my Alfa roba tree, you may think that he flowers nicely in yellow….
Praying mantis - these are fascinating insects and I am always happy when there is such a species in my garden here in Thailand. they sometimes sit in the same place for days. your paradise in the algarve is developing more and more into a botanical gem.

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback! It’s a pleasure to see all the developments on a daily basis. I think it won’t stop for the next 2-3 years…, still need to renovate the pool area which is a huge project! After that i want to create a fruit forest garden and a vineyard and I like to see chicken for making more compost.
In the fruit forest I want to install 2 yurts.
Eventually I like to offer place for up to 8 guests. This would allow small groups come together for retreats on all kind of different activities, like yoga, meditation, painting, singing, music, dancing, creative artwork of all kinds, nature excursions, etc…..

Where does the water go to?
Good question. The water runs through a pipe to cross the path upwards in front of the casa. Then the water drains down the slope to feed the plants growing along the path. I think you can call this permaculture. 😇
