Yes Janet, Angelina is the most humble person I have ever seen, particularly from such an incredibly talented person. This is her trying out her vocal fry voice while playing with her new toy (Neumann mic) she got for her 12th birthday. That mic picks up every little nuance in her vocals & was a great investment for her future performances.

Absolutely, Geoffrey. On Friday, she jumped back and forth from singing like the singular superstar talent that she is to chatting with the crowd in her touching soft-spoken way. She's such a genuine, good, lovely soul. I hope all of her dreams come true, personally and professionally. I can't think of anyone more deserving.

Any of the Interviews with Angie show what a beautiful human she is and yes, humble in her own words. She really just wants to sing to the world and is not the usual wannabe who are motivated by fame and fortune. I sense these 'early years' she just tried out different styles that she thought suited the songs and fortunately for us shared the magic. She now has this plethora of skills mastered and can pick and choose from them. So excited for the current chapter based on what 'Old Enough' has revealed ❤

UMG (Republic Records’ parent) recently announced a Music+Health initiative where they use science to study music to create music that helps people heal. I immediately sent a message to UMG that such a program needs Angelina.

Hello again 🙂 Great reaction! This is Angelina testing for the first time the Neumann mic (I believe it is a TLM 103, but I may be mistaken) she got for her 12th birthday. So she had JUST turned 12 here, despite it saying age 13 in the video description. I just thought I'd let you know that, as it would have been crazy enough at age 13 😂😉
Angelina is in a league of her own. She always has been and she always will be. IMO she's already at age 17 the very best female singer in the world.

She is one very unique human being, she seams in her early years to live behind her voice, when dealing with adults ,, now as she has reached her teenage year her personality has really developed and she appears so approachable as much as someone of her status can be there are flims of fans approaching her in airports and her stopping for photos and signing objects

Love your reaction to this mindblowing performance. You didn't need to say anything, your face told a thousand words :-). I'd say warm AND powerful AND humble. How all of that can exist in one human being is beyond me. A few of us were fortunate enough to meet her after her 9/22 concert....and can confirm she comes across as a sweet, humble, kind and loving soul, and I'm convinced that is who she is. It was like talking to an unassuming 17 year old girl down the street, who just happens to blow away Etta James classics!

Angelina is my favorite current vocalist. We know that she will produce many great songs in the future. She harkens back to the great female singers of Jazz of the past.

I her own words, Angelina just wants to spread love and kindness through the world through her music. She spoke to her audience between nearly every song during her sold out live concert last Friday night in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and later in the concert she started to worry she was repeating herself too much by saying that she loves her fans and just wants everyone to love each other & to spread love.

Angelina is a very rare combination of a humble person who has confidence in her abilities. Whether she’s sitting on her sofa or in front of an audiences of ten thousand, both of those qualities are apparent. Yes, she knows how good she is, but never flaunts it in her demeanor or her singing. She inhabits completely different genres like no one else. She did it as a very young child, and now as a young woman. Blues, jazz, 1960’s soul, ballads, r&b, and more-all done to perfection with her own arrangements and unique vocals.
She is an amazing artist. But there are a few performances of hers that stand out the most and this is one of them.

In past comments, some people who may be more knowledgeable claim the audio was recorded at age 12 but is dubbed over the video at age 13. Maybe the backward mic is her way of quietly saying this is not the original video.
@@dojoswitzerAs far as I understand Boris' comments on this (including the reply he gave you three month ago), it's the other way round: The video was taken in early April 2018, and Boris believes that that's right on the day when she got it. so contrary to what many fans believe that's actually a few month after her 12th birthday, as she posted unboxing pictures on April 4th 2018. She posted pictures in the same outfit on May 12th 2018, but those were likely a few weeks old. But Boris also believes that the audio was later recorded in two takes and dubbed onto the video.

Chilling on the couch, yep. Throwing down like a 45-year-old pro, also yep. I saw her live for my first time last Friday night and let me tell you it was truly something special. Nobody out there like her.

Performance wise sitting on the couch is not the most spectacular thing to analyse. You might enjoy her new original ‘Now I’m the Fool’ in which she is putting in much more non-musical performance.
Not going to find much stage presence in young Angelina here. But with Angelina, voice trumps stage presence every time.

@sulatlalaki It used to be my understanding that singing while being seated could lessen the breath support by up to 35% and, therefore, was more difficult. I then came across a piece extolling the virtues of singing in a prone position! Finally, someone mentioned that players of big brass instruments (tuba, baritone, French horn, etc.) are almost always seated when they perform. And those instruments require a lot of HARD breathwork. So I'm of the position now, that the singer's position doesn't really matter! It's whatever one can or can't do with their body and everyone is different.
Angelina is so soft spoken and so humble. It’s absolutely incredible. She seems like a very very sweet young lady. But, when she sings, I don’t think it would be possible for her to feel more confident. The girl is full of passion and kindness. It’s a wonderful combination. Yup, the warmth and feeling of personally singing to us is what captivated us and keeps us angels going. Many of her new songs are "power" instead of "warmth", and so she's losing her fanbase as you can see by the lower views on her new commercial-like songs. Hopefully she'll hit the right chord with young people and grew a new fan base but I feel she needs to return to the warmth of many of her old covers like this in order to keep her entire fan base captivated.
"She's losing her fanbase" is a bit of an exaggeration. Losing a few of her fans, maybe. But I know MANY in her fanbase that have been there for years, and continue to be as she grows, experiments, and reaches out to the rest of the world. By the way - have you seen the recording of her live concert performance of Unchained Melody? It is stunning - warmth and beauty personified in an amazing artist. I wouldn't give up on her just yet, if I were you.
@@SteveAckerman-ly3qg I understand your perspective, and I'm not giving up on her, I just worry for her future and think that she will benefit from making songs in multiple genres as opposed to trying to place multiple genres into a short few songs. Yes it works but it doesn't draw the level of fanbase that she's going to need. Anyway these comments paces are for us to express our opinions, and I expressed mine, so I'm not going to rebut or apologize I'm just going to say hey it's food for thought. For example, I think she would do well to also make hauntingly beautiful songs like she's done with several covers.
Understood! My dream is in between her new albums which may come out every couple of years, that she do some genre-specific entire albums, of mostly covers. Angelina | Soul. Angelina Sings the Blues. Angelina sings Jazz (that could be a multi-album set!). Angelina Rocks. There likely are others, she is so versatile.

Numerous times she has been compared to the closest thing that we know of "an Angel"! In interviews she is humble, at concerts, ...everywhere! No way she can fake that! So the charisma is pure and sincere!

I have only just discovered your channel and have instantly subscribed. Your reactions are so natural and insightful and I love how you totally respect the artists by not pausing the video. There are two performances I would absolutely love to see your reaction to. The first is Gary Moore’s last recorded rendition of Parisienne Walkways Live at Montreux in 2010. He sadly passed away on holiday in February 2011 and it was as if he left his finest performance for last. The other song is 16 years old (at that time) Lucy Thomas covering Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’. It is simply the most beautiful thing I believe that I have heard in my 70+ years. What is she 12 here, 13? She wanted this to be very relaxed, so much so that she recorded it and then she lip synched it on the couch. That mic, which she loves, is backwards. There is no way you can sing into that mic backwards. I love this rendition. And that one phrase, whoa, how long is it? And power right up to the end. And yes, she's humble. Watch her interview before her astounding arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT. And she's a good person. I'm sure she's barefoot in this video, keeping her promise to an Iranian street girl (who she probably spoke to in Farsi at 6) to never wear shoes while performing to remind us that there are children in need. She said that when she gave the girl her beloved green boots, it opened a door in her heart and it was like a stairway to heaven. Amen.
