Rafi sahab k jaisa gayak har kism k geet gaye hain. Un jaisa gayak na tha na hai na hoga.
I will provide some more information which will surprise you. Actually Khayyam saab was to compose music of Barsaat ki Raat. Yeh Ishq Ishq hai was originally performed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's father and uncle - "Na to butakade ke talab mujhe" ( Even Nusrat saab sang it in his programs you can watch on UA-cam). The producer of Barsaat ki Raat insisted to include this in his movie but Khayyam saab refused to include it. He said he will compose his own. Thus the composer was changed and Roshan saab was appointed as MD. Sahir saab extended the lyrics of original quawali and enhanced it with Krishna Radha and made it to represent Indian culture in totality. Roshan saab composed the same and made it immortal. You can notice the change in raaga for the additional stanzas added by Sahir saab. Overall result was a timeless composition with beautiful lyrics. So even though seed was from Khan saab, the beautiful grand tree was nurtured by all these great artists.
Atul - you are absolutely right. The lyrics are originally penned by Ameer Sabri and sung by Fateh Ali Khan Saab and then by Nusrat Fateh Saab. In order to bring the Krishna-Radha element and make it more palatable to Indian audience, Sahir Saab edited the original lyrics.

इस वीडियो कीशुरुआतमें चन्द्रप्रकाश जी के द्वारा कहे शब्द सुनकर मुझे ऐसा लगा कि मेरे दिल की आवाज उनके मुख से निकल रही है कि ऐसी अमर कव्वाली न पहले बनी और न अब कभी बन सकेगी इसकी प्रशंसा के लिए शब्द ही नहीं हैं
पता नहीं क्यों एक्स डी बातिश साहब का नाम लेना भूल रहे हैं एसडी बाती साब सिंगर तो थे ही अपने आप में एक म्यूजिक कंपोजर और डायरेक्टर भी थे बाद में वह भारत छोड़कर विदेश में बस गए थे उनका योगदान नजरअंदाज किया जा रहा है बाकी फिल्मों में हर सिचुएशन के साथ गाने वाले की जरूरत बदल जाती है एक सिंगार अपने आप में बहुत महान हो सकता है लेकिन वह एक खास किस्म का गाना गाने में फेल हो जाता ऐसा रफी साहब के साथ कई बार हुआ था खास करके फिल्म पड़ोसन का मशहूर गीत एक चतुर नार बड़ी होशियार रफी साहब से गवाया गया था बहुत बार कोशिश करने के भी वह चीज जो मन्ना दा और किशोर कुमार ने दी थी रफी साहब नहीं दे पा रहे थे इसलिए बाद में रफी साहब को मन्ना दासी रिप्लेस किया गया किशोर साहब की आवाज तो कभी कव्वाली के लायक ही नहीं उनका भी इस्तेमाल कव्वाली के अंदाज में आर डी बर्मन ने किया था सो जाना बड़ा मुश्किल है कोई सिंगर सबसे ऊंचा है हो सकता है रवि साहब जैसा सिंगर पैदा नहीं हुआ है बात फिल्म के गीतों में जो सिचुएशन पर गाज आए वही महान होता है अब संघर्ष की बात करें तो कुंदन लाल सहगल जैसा सिंगर कोई भी नहीं है रवि साहब भी नहीं किशोर भी नहीं है किसी का भी मुकाबला उनके साथ करके देख लो बाकी सब की अपनी पसंद है

I don't know whether it's true or not, but I heard this qawaali was first composed by ustad Fateh Ali Khan (father of nusrat saab). Roshan saab took permission to compose this qawaali and Saahir saab wrote separate lyrics. (Naa tho buthkade ki talab mujhe naa haram ke dar ku talash hai)..composed in late 50s. Hats of to Roshan saab, Saahir saab, all the singers & the musicians...

सबने मिलकर सब कुछ कह दिया है। बस एक बार उन तमाम संगतकारों,साजिन्दों और कोरस गायकों, जिनका ज़िक्र गाहे बगाहे ही होता है, उन्हें भी याद किया जाना चाहिये। उनके बगैर तस्वीर मुकम्मल ही नहीँ होती।
एक बात और दिखते तौर पर तो इस क़व्वाली को जीतने नाम सामने हैं, उन्होंने इसे बनाया है। लेकिन यह ऊपर वाले की रजा के बिना क्या आसान होता।

Aisi qawali na kisi ne kabhi suni na age sun payega.Yahi tareef karte karte ek hi aadmi 24minutes tak screen par chhaya raha aur logon ko bor karta raha. Log tadap rahe thay aisi khubsurat qwali ki ek jhalak paane ke liye magar janab screen se hatne ko tyaar hi na thay.Qwali ka maza hi maar diya.
