21mm is my preference. I purchased the Nanoskin 21mm for less than $200 on sale, and this machine rivals rupes, flex and all the other high priced machines. I was informed of this polisher from Obsessed garage. Great advice!!! This is the best polisher I have ever used
21 mm is the machine to use for cutting for sure. I started using it way too late like you too. Definitely recommend trying the cordless Shinemate 21. It’s more powerful than many corded polishers. Better than the Milwaukee in every way. And please use a microfiber pad for cutting these kind of heavy defects.
You gotta try the Shinemate 21mm. All the power without the vibration and nose of these machines. As it stands it is the best cordless machine out in a long throw form factor, in fact I’d go on a limb and say Shinemate has the best cordless lineup.
I just completed an entire 2-step correction with DIY’s 25mm DA & a 5” pad. Takes a lot for that bad boy to stall if you know how to manipulate it in those wonkier areas
I think for the DIYer I would go with a 15mm, for me I would also get the corded model because I may not pickup this tool for a year and I feel the battery would just die, obviously if you have other tools that use the the same battery then I would definitely get the cordless model, thanks Josh 👍👍
Well said, I hope some ppl take notes here. I have 3 corded polishers for this exact reason. For home/personal use, unless you have numerous other same brand tools/batteries, you might think twice about this potential "barely/ lightly used tool" purchase.
I actually started my polishing with a 21mm and a 5inch backing plate so i have some experience with it. Sure it cuts more and faster, dosen't finish as well though and finishing with it is harder (a lot) also at least with my chinese cheap one i see a lot of stalling on lower speed settings (like 1,2,3 is stall city - 4,5,6 is pure spin city), but that's the machines fault 4 sure. Also it's more vibrations with 21mm and it's somehow (probably the power and vibrations) more tiring working with it, it kinda compensates the 15mm more passes so i use the 21 only on rough jobs. Still i like it, i just don't like the 6" backing plates. For a more universal machine i would go 15mm all day long. Also a very nice quality Mr. Josh, the 4k kicks my eyes nicely, also i really like the long format vids!
I went with the 15mm throw when I bought my Rupes MKIII for the same reason you went with the 15MM. However after after seeing how the 21MM work I think they would be the ticket when doing a paint enhancement with an AIO product with it being more aggressive like it is
21 is more efficient than 15. I have tried both. You can go as far as you can say that the 21 can replace the rotary IMO. I have ShineMate 21 and it's a beast. Very good for its price and it doesn't stall.

Great selection over rupes. I cannot get over the under poweredness of them and the shroud designs.

@diydetailofficial 25mm creates too much heat and marring. Big price to pay for little or no advantage.

Probably the new 24 volt one

I can't afford one but I bet that obsessed garage $800 3inch would be great for that stall spot.

You don’t need a 21 inch unless you’re doing large vans, RVs, boats or airplanes. This is getting ridiculous.
