@joao-pa-fernandes Well recently it has a lot to do with the Canadian program deciding to require a 3 year commitment from the players. A number of guys said they weren't willing to make that kind of commitment including Wiggins, Clarke and a few others. Before that I think it came down to a number of things such as guys being in between contracts, injury issues and probably some guys just not interested in playing "for free" in their off-season. I understand some of the reasons but it's become a trend that is pretty concerning. At least now we have such a large pool of players that the absences don't hurt as much but still, Canada has ended up floundering mainly because of the lack of buy-in from our top level talent imo.
@BasketNews_com Good question. If they stick to their original plan of only accepting 3 year commits then no because of the guys who've committed we're only only missing Murray, Brissett and Joseph. So that makes 10. But if they decide to all of a sudden accept guys who didn't commit then I suspect guys like Wiggins, Clarke, Mathurin, Lyles, Nembhard etc to be very interested in playing. Wait, so 2022 eurobasket champions and 2019 world champions are...not in the bracket? Man, respect Spain. They're clearly one of the most motivated and grinder teams, with expiriencie and a coaching staff that's out of this world. But the most important is the heart, even without Bronw or Yellow (rubio, jk) they will surely make it to the bracket
I see everyone doubting us (Spain) because we have a lot of young players with not really big names and some veterans in the last stages of their carrers, but I fully trust that we AT LEAST get to the top 8 teams and I think we have a very underrated roster that can easily get a medal and even win it all to be honest. Plus Willy and Juancho would be playing better than ever to show everyone in the NBA that they deserved more trust, and Garuba and Aldama have a lot to prove too. I expect that and the leadership of our veterans to push us far in this World Cup.
I'm really surprised that a Lithuanian guy believes that Greece will defeat Lithuania in the round of 16. Because of the absences of Giannis and the other players you've mentioned here in Greece we are less optimistic than previous tournaments. Nevertheless Itoudis is a great coach and i hope that new stars will emerge through this tournament for Greece like Lountzis, Rogavopoulos and of course Walkup
@@milikas We don't believe in Greece and the Lithuanians don't believe in Lithuania lol in any case I think Greece won't be able to beat both Lithuania and Montenegro, we will even find it a bit difficult to beat New Zealand in the first round.
Hey man, Soudan is a great team with Wanyen Gabriel, Nuni Omot and Marial Shayok. Also Puerto Rico has Tremont Waters, Conditt and a huge tradition of basketball in the whole country. I think that China is not as safe as you think, to get the 2nd position in the group.
I’d bet France, and if your bracket comes through, that semi final is going to be VERY feisty. We need the NBA and FIBA to work things out. The World Cup with all the nba talent available would be AMAZING.
It's interesting to see that Spain doesn't count again. With those same expectations they won last EuroBasket, last Basketball World Championship and are current FIBA number 1. The Whole is more than the mere sum of its parts.
it's his predictions, he didn't say it was written in stone, he doesn't read into the future 😂 and you saying that Spain could be world champion either... each in his own opinion. and as far as the world rankings are concerned, belgium in football has been ranked 1st in football for years without ever winning any title and ireland in rugby currently has been for 2 years and it will probably not win the world cup I think this year... it's a world cup, not a graduation ceremony at the end of the university year 😂
We will see... it's sport and that's why we love it ❤🏀 everyone knows that Spain plays basketball well don't worry, and that Spain is a great sporting nation in general... my mother's name is Contreras but I'm French sorry 😂 🇪🇦❤🇫🇷
@@patfarget-nm3mt Not only his predictions. FIBA, and others, predicts the same. It's curious when they also didn't count Spain for the medals in the last tournaments and they won Gold once an again. It's FIBA fever here in the Philippines today and the atmosphere is electrifying... I very much agree with your gold, silver, and bronze prediction... I have the same one... USA - gold, AUS - silver, and SERBIA - bronze... however, your statement is worth noting... a single different outcome in the group stage which starts today might give us a different result... Enjoy the games everyone!!!
for me i see : QF1 Serbia-Lithuania, QF2 USA-Italy, QF3 Australia-Spain, QF4 France-Slovénia. SF1 Serbia- Australia, SF2 USA-Slovénia. champion : Australia, 2nd USA and third Serbia.
Nice video.Agreed with the most of your predictions but I think you overestimate the Greek team. I'm Greek but I realy believe we will have problems to overcome the New Zealand team at the 1st stage...and even if we qualified and despite we have one of the easiest roads a team could ask to be at the quarterfinals (prob two matches against Lithuania and Montenegro at stage 2) I will be surprized if we win even one match against those two
I actually really like this squad from the us. They're not the absolute best team they could assemble, but they're young and likely to be better individually next year, so it's great to put reps on them as a team already. They could win it all, but if they don't, it's better to put in a new team this than next year.
Kostas Antetokounmpo is not playing this summer for Greece either. In terms of the predictions, I sincerely doubt Australia can throw Serbia/Canada out.
@@TMPOUZI We have the star power to beat them, but its super unpredictable, we were 100% a better team than italy, all it took was one quarter of insane shot making to throw us out, if we won that match, im sure we wouldve won the entire tournament.
The last time Australia didn't make the semis in a World Cup or Olympics was 2014. The last time Canada made the semis of a World Cup or Olympics was 1984. They have a talented group but they're really unproven at the highest international level.

Nice to see my german Team getting some love. Sadly Schröder just couldnt shut up and Maxi wont complete the team. With him instead of Thiemann, our FC would be one of, if not the best in the tournament. That being said, the 3 man rotation of Voigtmann/Theiss/Mo Wagner should be enough. I am a bit worried about our Guard rotation though. Weiler-Babb as a good 3&D guard is injured (replaced by a more offensive minded guard in David Krämer). And Maodo Lo looks out of form. I miss his energy and offensive punch right now . But that is desperately needed to give Schröder at least some breathers during games. Schröder just works in this system, and Obst is one of the best shooters in the tournament. But behind those 2 I have a lot of questions. Overall, I think the US will win this tournament without big problems. But after that, basically every team can beat each other. Spain, Canada, Australia, France, Germany... throw a coin. Your guess is as good as mine!
Don't you rate Thiemann? I really like him. A versatile and a tough big capable of being involved in playmaking. In my eyes, while it would've been nice to have Kleber in the team, Germany won't really miss him. Regarding frontcourt, I'm more worried about rim protection. Germany doesn't have a big like Gobert or Milutinov but obviously good team defence can make up for it.
I wouldn't bet on it, they just haven't been there. They haven't made it out of the groups since 2000, they don't really have a good international program in place historically, and these guys have barely ever played FIBA together at all. Like Shai, Barrett, Alexander-Walker have never played in a senior FIBA tournament except in qualifiers. Give them time to grow, they should get out of the first round which would show massive progress with the Olympics on the horizon next year.
@@badaboum2 good luck with that. If Shai grows any more he’s a top 5 player in the NBA let alone a Fiba tournament. You should probably stick to watching stats and not writing novels
Huertas will probably not see a lot of minutes once the tournament starts. Neto and Yago are great point guards, and Yago will start his european career. Also, benite and mendl are playing great. This is the best brazilian team I have seen in a while. Caboclo is amazing. We will surprise spain for sure We also beat australia in the friendly game and Neto didnt even play that game
As Serb, I would be more than happy if we get the bronze. With Joker we could aspire final, but this team realistic achievement is quarter finals. Who knows, maybe "Automatic" and one of kids go completely crazy and we really win a medal. However, if get to play Australia, I think we shall pass them!
Good video. Quick note on Markkanen. the idea that he is dedicated to his country for going to the army is kinda wrong. Finland has full male conscription, Markkanen has to do his service. Perhaps he could worm himself out of it, but that would destroy his reputation in Finland completely.
I'm not trying to be biased, but imo, if only jordan clarkson was granted as being local by fiba instead of being naturalized player, since JC is half-filipino, philippines could've naturalized another nba calibre player to make our matches against italy and dominican republic more interesting.
i actually think the world cup in the coming years is gonna become a much more coveted trophy to have. Players should start caring about international competitions because the level of skill globally has exploded.
I wish playing for your country in basketball was taken as seriously as playing for your country in football. I mean it should be a privilege to be able to represent your country in the biggest stage of international basketball and possibly put it at the top of the basketball WORLD.
It depends on the country you're from, if you're from a basketball country like China, Philippines, Lithuania etc. U will most likely want to play for your country
As a German: This group Scares me a bit, because while i think we have a Good Roster overall, Japan as a Host Nation will be a Hard out as a "last-seed", and Markannen has a different Gear for Finland. And then there is Australia. And Australia is Hard as is, but then also FIBA-Patty-Mills is somehow always a World Class Player.
As a Lebanese, you disrespected us way too much, you didn't have to do us like that 🤣. Although we may not be the strongest team on paper, they are the pride of our nation and are playing for more than just basketball and their fighting spirit will surprise a few, I wouldn't be shocked if we got a win in the group. Plus we got the Asian Cup MVP, Wael Arakji, baller.
it's not disrespect... have you seen the group from Lebanon? you're not going to say that you are favorites anyway? 😂 Good luck anyway from France 🇫🇷❤🇱🇧

39 pt margin loss to Latvia 😆
This aged like milk
Seeing France lose so bad to Canada, they’re making 2nd or 3rd
Wait, so 2022 eurobasket champions and 2019 world champions are...not in the bracket? Man, respect Spain. They're clearly one of the most motivated and grinder teams, with expiriencie and a coaching staff that's out of this world. But the most important is the heart, even without Bronw or Yellow (rubio, jk) they will surely make it to the bracket
That Italian coach should be in the NBA. He's too great. Pop-like greatness.
He's great 😂
Great vid!
I watched many prep games for this tournament, but I learned a lot from this vid🏀🏀🏀
Happy to hear that ✌️
I see everyone doubting us (Spain) because we have a lot of young players with not really big names and some veterans in the last stages of their carrers, but I fully trust that we AT LEAST get to the top 8 teams and I think we have a very underrated roster that can easily get a medal and even win it all to be honest.
Plus Willy and Juancho would be playing better than ever to show everyone in the NBA that they deserved more trust, and Garuba and Aldama have a lot to prove too. I expect that and the leadership of our veterans to push us far in this World Cup.
here after canada beat france
4:50 Thomas Walkupoloulous. 🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Latvia third! HOW DEAR YOU TO UNDERRATE US!!!
EZ TOP 16!!!
Underrating bralukas
I'd say he underrated his own, Lithuania too... then again USA and Greece are tough opponents...
As a Canadian, W Latvia see y’all in the next round
I'm really surprised that a Lithuanian guy believes that Greece will defeat Lithuania in the round of 16. Because of the absences of Giannis and the other players you've mentioned here in Greece we are less optimistic than previous tournaments. Nevertheless Itoudis is a great coach and i hope that new stars will emerge through this tournament for Greece like Lountzis, Rogavopoulos and of course Walkup
Yeah, they doesn’t even believe in their own team anymore. 😃😃 50/50 for Greece and Lithuania I think, it’s going to be a very interesting game though.
@@milikas Matches between Greece and Lithuania are always interesting to watch.
@@milikas We don't believe in Greece and the Lithuanians don't believe in Lithuania lol in any case I think Greece won't be able to beat both Lithuania and Montenegro, we will even find it a bit difficult to beat New Zealand in the first round.
I'm giving 51% for Greece :D
Thanks man, I needed this info and you put it all together for me. Good video from Los Angeles, CA
Honestly, I've been having second thoughts on that prediction 😄
I was thinking the same about South Sudan
Solid Pre-WC video man!
I’d bet France, and if your bracket comes through, that semi final is going to be VERY feisty.
We need the NBA and FIBA to work things out. The World Cup with all the nba talent available would be AMAZING.
Too bad the Americans don't care about the world cup
This aged like milk 😊
@@justinherrera3722 Austrália then.
Hey, this video was great! Got me caught up for the World Cup! Thanks, pal!
It's interesting to see that Spain doesn't count again. With those same expectations they won last EuroBasket, last Basketball World Championship and are current FIBA number 1. The Whole is more than the mere sum of its parts.
it's his predictions, he didn't say it was written in stone, he doesn't read into the future 😂
and you saying that Spain could be world champion either... each in his own opinion.
and as far as the world rankings are concerned, belgium in football has been ranked 1st in football for years without ever winning any title and ireland in rugby currently has been for 2 years and it will probably not win the world cup I think this year...
it's a world cup, not a graduation ceremony at the end of the university year 😂
We will see... it's sport and that's why we love it ❤🏀
everyone knows that Spain plays basketball well don't worry, and that Spain is a great sporting nation in general...
my mother's name is Contreras but I'm French sorry 😂
🇪🇦❤🇫🇷
@@patfarget-nm3mt Not only his predictions. FIBA, and others, predicts the same. It's curious when they also didn't count Spain for the medals in the last tournaments and they won Gold once an again. With similar teams to the one Spain will play with they are FIBA number one. I'm not worrying, mate, just saying.
@@omenow
Personally I have always respected Spanish basketball, I can't answer for the others... they are still predictions, the players will answer on the basketball court if they were wrong to forget them.
@@omenow
if you want to have a more convincing inventory, look at the online betting sites... spain is in 6th position for the final victory, that's not bad already
with almost the same betting odds as the team placed 3rd 👍
only the USA really stands out
i feel like valanciunas is one of those guys that if he cared he d be a mega star.. but hes just chilling enjoying life... type of thing
Shai Gilgeous Alexander is going to go off. I think Canada can surprise and finish first in the group and make it to at least the semifinals. Barret is going to be defending all over the court
One of the contenders for sure
Well.. Au revoir, France!
So you have France over Canada eh?
As a graduate of Purdue University, I would interested to see Big Zach Edey get some playing time against Rudy Gobert in the Canada vs france matchup.
My prediction
🏅USA
🥈France
🥉Canada (my dark horse)
4. Australia
5. Serbia (since France is the host, possibly the 5th placer will be advance to Olympics)
Finishers:
Asia - Philippines (my country)
Africa - Cape Verde
Europe - Germany
Americas - Dominican Republic
I'm Greek but I realy believe we will have problems to overcome the New Zealand team at the 1st stage...and even if we qualified and despite we have one of the easiest roads a team could ask to be at the quarterfinals (prob two matches against Lithuania and Montenegro at stage 2) I will be surprized if we win even one match against those two
Walkupoloupolos was hilarious 😂😂😂
I actually really like this squad from the us. They're not the absolute best team they could assemble, but they're young and likely to be better individually next year, so it's great to put reps on them as a team already.
They could win it all, but if they don't, it's better to put in a new team this than next year.
You are talking about Team USA?
And down goes France
Awesome video, realistic predictions. I hope my Serbia takes gold 🇷🇸 ❤
Thank you!
Anthony Edwards will say otherwise. 🌲🐺🌲🐺🌲
So much needed rundown!
Canada just blewout france by 30
Latvia beat France 💪🏼❤️
Kostas Antetokounmpo is not playing this summer for Greece either.
In terms of the predictions, I sincerely doubt Australia can throw Serbia/Canada out.
Australia definitely can beat us. I am Serb.
@@VladimirVučinić-p2w yes they can beat us, but if they play canada first they r out.if we play greece first we win 100%. canada taking gold
@@David-wo9lu Australia is extremely experienced. Canada will choke. Australia - Serbia is 50-50%
@@TMPOUZI We have the star power to beat them, but its super unpredictable, we were 100% a better team than italy, all it took was one quarter of insane shot making to throw us out, if we won that match, im sure we wouldve won the entire tournament.
The last time Australia didn't make the semis in a World Cup or Olympics was 2014. The last time Canada made the semis of a World Cup or Olympics was 1984. They have a talented group but they're really unproven at the highest international level.
Annnnnd Canada absolutely smacks France and now they're eliminated 😂🇨🇦
I enjoy the view and information given fr gets me more hyped to see others love Fiba too🙏🏾
Let's goooo
Thanks for the breakdown
USA Gold, Serbia Silver, Canada Bronze. 👌
Davis Bertans just ended France - Wembanyama where you at?!
To be honest, i have Germany on the podium for either 2 or 3, daniel theis and Schroeder are genuine forces to be reckoned with on the FIBA level
Love your recommendations BasketNews👍👍🇦🇺.
As an Aussie supporter with our best line up in ages, ages..silver would be an enormous achievement 👏.
USA for gold.
Dark horse 🐎 you've brought up a good point..um, Germany, France or Slovenia.
Greece 🇬🇷 definitely if the Greek Freak was playing .
God bless 🙌 the best FIBA tournament in ages.
Appreciate
EXCELLENT WORK!
Llllaaaattttviiaaaaa sends france home
to me USA, Canada, Spain and Germany are the best 4 teams of this worldcup
Keep seeing high predictions for Australia. Making me nervous. Hoped we would keep low profile. We’re better as underdog.
I like that Italian coach 😂 Literally after he lands to Manila Airport his searching for Manny Pacquiao LOL
You almost beat USA in the friendly match, don't miss the chance next time, USA has lost the gold with much better players (2006,2019)
Thank you. You earn another subscriber!
Canada is definitely earning a medal this year
To do that you have to beat Australia, Serbia and France. Good luck doing so
@@TMPOUZI My Serbia is done. Has a good chance against Australia and by me it's 50-50 vs France.
canada scary fr
It's Thomas Walkupopoulos.. 😊
In its greek version, Thomas has its "Th" pronounced like in Theodor, thematic.
Canada beat France by 30
This prediction already aged like warm milk in the sun.
Huertas will probably not see a lot of minutes once the tournament starts. Neto and Yago are great point guards, and Yago will start his european career. Also, benite and mendl are playing great. This is the best brazilian team I have seen in a while. Caboclo is amazing. We will surprise spain for sure
We also beat australia in the friendly game and Neto didnt even play that game
Still crazy that he's still playing!
Kyle Anderson playing for China must be the most random thing I've seen this year lol
Hehe, Latvian here, we made the France predictions age terribly🥶
As Serb, I would be more than happy if we get the bronze. With Joker we could aspire final, but this team realistic achievement is quarter finals. Who knows, maybe "Automatic" and one of kids go completely crazy and we really win a medal.
However, if get to play Australia, I think we shall pass them!
Good video. Quick note on Markkanen. the idea that he is dedicated to his country for going to the army is kinda wrong. Finland has full male conscription, Markkanen has to do his service. Perhaps he could worm himself out of it, but that would destroy his reputation in Finland completely.
kinda good predictions... but Latvia will be in a medal contest :)
USA, CANADA, GERMANY
The best breakdown thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Missed on your Canada prediction bruv we cooked France
Where can I watch Euroleague games?
I'm from the Dominican Republic, so it's quite difficult for me to access those games. Cheers and great vids!
I watch euroleague matches on my online betting site... 😂
but it may not work in all countries
Latvia made this age terribly :D
Is that the instrumental to on the street playing in the background
I hope México 🇲🇽 makes a decent tournament, but you are right, Montenegro 🇲🇪 and Lithuania 🇱🇹 are the strongest of the group. Best wishes ✌️
hi what are your predictions for the host team Indonesia?
I'm not trying to be biased, but imo, if only jordan clarkson was granted as being local by fiba instead of being naturalized player, since JC is half-filipino, philippines could've naturalized another nba calibre player to make our matches against italy and dominican republic more interesting.
Facts. People are talking about Brownlee being able to play with JC and Sotto.
can't wait for it to be aug 25 already😤😤
I'll pay to watch Pozzecco box with Pacquiao during half time of the Gilas - Italy 😂😂😂
13:23 - 13:25 WRONG
Having Puerto Rico getting knocked out in groups was such a miss in this video
i actually think the world cup in the coming years is gonna become a much more coveted trophy to have.
I say USA wins gold Spain- Sliver and Serbia- Bronze
Thank you for support from Serbia but France, Australia, Canada are too strong.
Feel said for argentina loss to bahamas, cheering for you after facu and luca
i love that nobody is doubting Spain. Well, yeah, he is.
Canada blew out france. You're euro biased.
Good luck anyway from France 🇫🇷❤🇱🇧
I'm sorry again 😅 I love that you guys are watching us all over the world!
i do not see any wrong or disrespectful comments he made. Those monster teams of Canada and France could compete and win against team USA in any given day. There is nothing wrong with patriotism just dont get easily offended when someone speaks the truth.
I am Lebanese and I second what you said@@geovishap2277. @BasketNews_com thanks for the good analysis and content
That's what you get for being overproud lol at least be a little realistic. I see Lebanon getting blown up by an average of 20.
the Canada vs France prediction didn't age well 😅
France already blasted a big part of the prediction 😂😂
It'll be the battle between USA & Germany for the Gold..
Great video, been watching your channel for a while and the content is amazing.
Just a quick note, I think Lebanon got unfortunate in a group of death, they placed 2nd in the last FIBA asia tournament while Wael Arakji being named the tournament’s MVP.
Mark my words Lebanon might snatch a win against Latvia and watch out for Wael Arakji.
Thanks again for the amazing content.
No chance in hell bro. have you seen Latvia's record lately? they've won 19 of their last 20 games. NINETEEN!
