The game looks better and better, it's great that the animation units look almost as good as in Heroes 6 (in this respect, you can see that you were probably inspired by this part). From my suggestions, when it gets night I would add more lighting effects - lamps, reflectors, etc., another one would be epic if each of the units had some small tree of features and skills to develop. It would be something amazing and I think it could only contribute even more to even beating Heroes 3 in playability :D Keep doing as well as you have been so far and all the best for you in the new year 2025!
my major hope is that AI does not lag and is somewhat playable single player for a 1000 turns. No memory leaks on AI please. please. I hope that "Logistic skill" which grant extra movement is not a mandatory skill to take especially on maps bigger than medium size. it feels bad when your hero is suppose have 5 skill choices but in reality, they have 4. i feel like it should be base-kit skill scales off levels and is stronger the bigger the map or like some custom-in game option mode would be nice.
Another thing is skirmish capturing. this is where a player sneak hero's into your base but you cannot defend because all your forces are on 1 hero in offence. the logic here is that not having all your army in 1 hero is risk where you can lose your entire army which auto-lose but spread out isn't rewarding. there should be some base defence army that is based off your real army so that there is some semblance between offence vs defence. they tried fix this problem HOMM5 tribe of the east by putting additional PVE spawn points that spawn units every week but it just that it doesn't scale. even if you have 1 or 2 control points of additional units. in the end, it still just encourage player stack 1 army because putting 20 footman in fortress isn't going help defend from attacking forces. it would be better if army of fortress in the attack scaled by some % in defences, defence units cannot leave capital. maybe they can be moved but only few meters away. developer had this idea in Dwarf faction where you could build guild building that spawned 500 soldiers but i think this would be great base game mechanic. A mechanic like this would punish "Fortress trading" and "Resource trading". defence unit do not spawn if a "real unit" is in the base. it is subtracted by the real units. for example if you have 10 attack mages and defence is 30 mages. it will give +20 defending and 10 will be real mages out of say the "100" in the map from that fortress.
those were my main concerns of HOMM5. hopefully the mechanic are more refined in Older era.
I left 200 angry comments previously, but now I see you made a dark galaxy fog of war... I forgive you everything from now and you forgive me please too.
Hi! Big tip:
Increase unit models by 20%-30%, because they look like mini figures ;/.
Walls when attacking a castle can also be increased by about 10%-15%.
I personally think that high fidelity graphics make games like shooters unplayable for people with sight issues. This game gives me the same feeling. Units seem so small and maps seem so big. Additionally objects lack sharpening around the edges, so they blend with the environment. An option to make the graphics a bit pixelated would be good for my eyesight. ❤️
I'm really loving that you can change the setting for the fog of war. The starry night one bring so much nostalgia from heroes 3 🎉

When it revealed that there were OPTIONS for the look of the fog of war, I instantly crossed my fingers for the classic starry sky. I was not disappointed. ^_^

This is how Heroes games should evolve - not pushing for the top tier graphics while abandoning what made the gameplay loop great, but rather keep the old formula and add more stuff to it, not replace it. Players never needed the wheel to get reinvented if the wheel wasn't broken.
True, but there's a problem: the style of the universe wasn't augmented, it was exactly replaced by the style of WoW and LoL. In this installment, the old formula is broken
@@supzerro1889 I was a bit sceptical at first but I'm all in for the new style. And it's definitely not WoW-like imo, not that it would be a horrible thing.
@@Dataraptor-v9l Not many people share that view, judging by the specific polls I've seen on the subject. By the way, I'm curious as to why you don't think this style is similar to League of Legends (because objectively it is) and why you don't think overdetailed peasants with sticks and pigs are terrible (this is just one of many examples of this approach). Are you sure this fits with the HoMM universe? Does it retain the atmosphere of the most popular 3rd installment?

It has been a long time since I saw game devs actually listen to fan feedback so much. Even attempting to make a Heroes game which H5 and especially H3 fans will aprove is a brave act. This game really looks like it was made with a great passion and care. Thank you for giving us hope.
When they started showing the fog of war settings i was thinking "Wonder if they have included the starry night sky like the og"

1. Хотелось бы видеть продуманное колесо умений как в 5-ой части игры. Множество интересных боевых и не боевых умений. К примеру влиять на поле боя или умение у некроманта, когда на поле боя оставались призраки после смерти. Ну вы поняли о чем я.
2. Всегда нравилось разнообразие и различия у всех рас. К примеру разные маунты у героев ( лошади, единороги, псы и тд). Кроме того понравилась фишка плохих - 7-ых героев, в которой боевые машины ( баллиста, палатка, тележка, катапульта) отличались друг от друга в зависимости от фракции. Если у людей была привычная катапульта, то у Орды была катапульта в виде гигантского чудища похожего на циклопа, который швырял в стены замка валуны. По мне так такое разнообразия и детали игре не помешают, и на баланс не повлияют. Очень красит любую игру такие мелочи как разновидность крови, которую вы добавили и прочие такие вещи. Вся прелесть именно в мелочах и деталях.
3. Завезите умный ии компу. Чтобы он прекратил генерить золото и собирать войска не учитывая прирост замков. Сделайте действительно умного ии, похожего на игрока.
4. И пожалуйста не забудьте про нас. Про простых игроков, которые познакомились с игрой у дяди в гостях на старом компе. Потом месяцами вспоминали игру и мечтали о ней не имея даже собственного компа. Про тех людей, кто в бессонные ночи рубились в героев. Про тех, кто любит одиночную игру за её бесконечную реиграбельность.
P. S. Дядька 30 лет радуется как ребёнок, когда понимает, что может одним комментарием помочь разработчику наконец сделать для всех нас "Героев мечты"

Wow, am I living in the bubble? I thought that most of the people doesn't like green neon lights when it comes to undeads... Eh. Why everything has to be so flashy instead of just raw oldschool dirt and death..?

Looks great! Music and vibe is really there.
A few things that would be great:
- Flags over mines/dwellings so the player knows clearly what they have flagged or visited.
- Caravans from said dwellings - a lifesaver in HOMM5 TOE etc
- Sleep/inactive mode for heroes you have stationed somewhere for scouting or other purposes.
- Battle speed settings
- Player speed on map settings
- Skill wheel for easy access to ultimate req
- Set pieces for items with bonuses for comple sets
- Variants of upgraded creatures, one for attack and one for defense, or one ranged and one melee, etc
- A lot of scenarios and campaigns, love the single player value of HOMM5 with it's campaigns for example

Day/Night Cycle looks gorgeous! When I first saw this game announced I was cautiously optimistic, and figured I would pick it up on its 1.0 release like I do with most early access games, but the love and passion you guys have for this game and its community has made me a true believer in your team. Consider me officially a day 1 EA purchase! You deserve to see all the success in the world!!!

As someone who grew up with Heroes 2 with a childhood friend no longer with us, and have played 3,4,5 extensivelly since, this game takes me way back to the good old days.
Olden Era have me really really hyped. Fantastic artstyle. Allmost fell a tear, thinking about my friend from childhood, not being able to experience this upcoming game. As it was he who got me hooked on the franchise.
Ah, I feel young again.
Some of the features I'm looking forward to is the Grail puzzle subquest, map editor, and competitive balance that pushes you to check player statistics at the tavern and adjust your growth priorities.
This is looking pretty good... I can't help but get my hopes up. The spells look absolutely stunning...

This is lovely, and very reaffirming to see. I small detail I loved in both HoMM VI and VII was that some heroes had custom character models on both the world map and in combat.

1:47 you could make it so cities with lights only light up during the night, or you could make the lights brighter to give more of a difference between night and day
I really love what you did! All those changes truly show how you care, and that you want to be true to what Sven Vincke said during TGA, that a game is great when the developers want to play it c: Yet still I'm begging for making distinction between large and small units! (Not only for climate, but also to add new depth to positioning on battlefield and maybe addition of skills like pikeman stopping charging large units next to them or something :D ) Keep up the great work!

Any developer who listens to the fandom is a big W in my book.
Looks good. I hope the day and night cycle gives some kind of an advantage/disadvantage to certain factions, but not necessarily to all factions.
Another thing that heroes 5 did right, but didn't quite do well enough, are the non-spell active skills on might heroes. It still felt like you had to learn magic to do well, despite being a might hero.
What if you added stamina? Might heroes get more stamina points, but still some mana points, while magic heroes get more mana but still some stamina points?
Mana will be used for spells like usual, but stamina will be used for tactical manuevers on your troops? A tactical expert (or only might hero?) can issue commands that can fx make a unit attack an adjacent unit without losing it's turn, or make a unit be in defend mode and give it a defense boost like a buff, or maybe make it so that the unit can overwhelm on the next attack (attack with no counter-attack) or prepare for a counter (attack the attacker first before being attacked). Maybe a might hero can freely make an archangel cast resurrection outside its turn or move a unit in front of another unit to block it. The barbarians in homm5 had a skill that could attach the hero to a unit, so that the hero always attacks alongside a specific unit. That is a brilliant idea that should have been available to all might heroes and should be a skill that a might hero can learn just like a magic hero can learn a spell.
Basically the might hero can make the troops do stuff, so the might of the army scales based on the strength of the army as well as attack and defense. The magic hero can make all kinds of supernatural stuff so their might scales based on their mana and spell power.
The magic hero will perhaps be stronger in the beginning, but will still be relevant with crowd control skills in the late game, whereas the might hero is perhaps the more powerful the bigger your army (which makes sense to me). When a wizard can wipe out an entire army it loses it's fun.
So might heroes can cast buff-like skills on friendly units (war cries to put negative buffs on enemies?), make units do things outside of their turn, make mechanical traps on the battlefield and maybe a couple of physical attacks from the hero itself with some added effects.
Magic heroes can cast positive buffs on friendlies, negative buffs on enemies, deal massive direct damage with spells, heal and revive troops and summon units and other supernatural things.
Balancing things will be difficult, but at least it will feel a little different to play a might or magic hero, and it will give the player way more things to do with a might hero than going oh I need to learn magic or else I'm screwed or there really isn't much for my hero to do during battle.
Just a friendly suggestion. I would love for this game to succeed.

That could only happen if the game flops. If it succeeds, there is no shot Ubisoft gonna sell the new cow it can milk

Especially the dragon one shows me they're not afraid of changing/adding units that people are disliking/missing, which I find very crucial for these games, the creatures and how they work make 70% of the game in the end
I hope you all don't get too much feedback you feel like you have to listen to, but it's definitely super nice knowing that you guys do read what the people want. I am looking forward to this a lot, no matter when it may release. Ik the steam page says 4-7th month of this year early access, but just a friendly reminder to push it back earlier rather than soon if development takes longer as this is a series that most die-hard fans are stalking, n people might take days off work if there is an exact date at some point.

Unfrozen is taking all the right steps. Having Romero for the music. Deep customization. Alternative upgrades. Bringing inferno back. Heroes 5 style moving 3D towns. Heroes 3 style warm, cosy adventure map, new heroes. New spells. This game is destined for success!!!

This is awesome ! As a gamer, I feel connected to the whole HOMM saga in some special kind of way: My dad first introduced me to gaming with HOMM1 back in 1996. From there it was our thing, we'd play multiplayer or I'd just watch him play and being super good at it. Same was with HOMM2 and, boy when HOMM3 was out, we've spent countless hours playing it together. I still think it's one of the best video games ever. After HOMM3 the franchise went down imho, with the devs trying to "innovate" an already almost-perfect game, it never felt the same. With Olden Era, you guys seem to understand what we, old school players want from a new Heroes game. My dad is now 60 and when I showed him the first trailer of Olden Era, his eyes lit up with hype and some nostalgia and he said that we can finally play Heroes together again, just like we did when I was just a kid, 30 years ago. For that, I can't thank you enough !
I am crying and crying, i feel loved. To all the people who work on this game: May each day be better and more fulfilling than the previous one. Being hardworking, transparent and passionate always pays off. Bask in your glory! Happy New Year!

I really like the game and I think you have stepped right and well, because it is awesome. Heroes is a game from my childhood and seeing it come back gives me great hope and joy. Especially part 5 is my favorite, so I'm glad you're considering that too, along with part 3 of course. Thank you and I look forward to the release of the game. I am realy big fan.

I am a huge fan of the series and first time in a while i have hope for a good game thanks to your team . I would like to say i always liked the class and ability system of homm 4 . i belive homm 4 had the most enjoyable hero experience out of all the games .
I'm not going to sugarcoat it, I love HoMMV and HommIII... but this, Olden Era, might be objectively speaking the new best HoMM, I trully love you Devs, and I thank you for your hard work, and love and passions for HoMM.

As a suggestion you could try to implement some forced town battles: E.g. you can only pass a gate/teleporter/bridge while controlling a certain town. If you add different choice buildings (town defense/ creature growth/ hero stat upgrade) which would bring additional tactical choices in town building.

Some of the best memories that I have are playing Heroes of Might & Magic with my father & grandfather. I started playing HOMM 2 with them when I was 6. In case you forgot, that was the game with the broken ghosts, haha.
I now have a 5 year old son. I am so excited to recreate these memories with him and his grandfather.

@unfrozenofficial - I'm sure your team is illustrating some amazing Hero portrait art that hasn't been shown yet, but I think Dungeon could use some more intimidating looking Hero portraits, like Undead received. Please consider some really scary looking Minotaur heroes like my boy Gunnar from Heroes 3, or even some scary looking dragonkin heroes would be sweet too!
