Why has no one ever thought of heathers closing on September 3rd when really it should be closing on September 1st....or is it just me that thinks that makes perfect sense
I completely agree regarding The Other Palace uplifting new musicals, my only worry is not nearly as many people will be willing to see those shows. However, it’s amazing that the show has lasted so long in its run, it’s incredible it’s gone onto things such as the Pro Shot and that so many of the cast have gone onto such amazing things
Getting the youth involved (audiences and cast) is fundamental. There's not a show that's done more in recent years than Heather's. However, the team behind the show have really let the company down. Sacking the band was absolutely despicable.
You’ve absolutely summed this up perfectly. My only slight issue with Heathers was always the blocking of a smaller space for those much needed new shows. I’m looking forward to see what goes into the Other Palace next.
So firstly, it makes sense that Mean Girls waited for Heathers to close (especially because the latter is the better, more interesting show imo). Secondly, I hope that But I’m a Cheerleader is able to do a stint at The Other Palace. It seems like a great show and I just gotta give love to sapphic shows.
To be frank with you, I kind of hope that when Heathers closes that it means that Death Note the Musical can have a full production after the Lyric Theatre concert run, I don't think Mean Girls would come to such a small venue and the Haymarket Theatre or Lyric Theatre would be a better fit for a West End Mean Girls the Musical Transfer.
I saw Heathers on tour a few months ago - it was absolutely incredible, and I'm not sure I've ever seen such an enthusiastic crowd (and even at the age of 24, I did feel very old compared to everyone else there lol). And oh my goodness, if Mean Girls finally makes it over here, I will be absolutely thrilled. I know some people hate it with a passion, but listening to that soundtrack got me through some tough times when I was finishing my degree, so I love it unconditionally
Non equity tour are tours that don’t hire aea actors and stage managers basically meaning the can pay and treat the pretty badly. They also normally only travel by bus and do multiple different cities during a week normally doing 1 to 3 shows per city. Set wise the production company buys or rents the original tour set but with cutbacks they normally don’t have automation along with some other cuts depending on the show. The show itself doesn’t really change it’s mostly technical and other minor things. I would also look up non union waitress tour if you are interested for more information about non equity tours,
i really do believe it will be Mean Girls. Hannah Lowther has been making little teases over on her tik tok about which new role she has and a lot of them seem to be towards mean girls! x
Mean Girls is a must. You need chemistry between all four girls plus their standby's. Mean Girls movie cast helped promote for broadway. Tina Fey bought cheese fries truck in front of the theatre.
I’m 41 and I love heathers and it made me so emotional seeing the tour of it in York taking my teenage daughter and seeing the amazing youth and young adults enjoying it it reminded me of the popularity of rocky horror show loved it xx
Something Rotten needs to finally have a run in London. Also, now that it's closing on Broadway, Once Upon a One More Time might be fun to see in the West End.
Crikey…. Very interesting, I took my daughters (last minute) to see Heathers at the Palace theatre Manchester 24 hourS earlier….. yet we are also down to London in the next week on separate trips to see variety of shows (particularly looking forward to A Strange Loop following your recommendation …. And hopefully Groundhog Day before it closes)
Heathers is one of those that I always kept meaning to see (friends from uni raved about the cast album) but it was never high priority as I kind of just assumed it would always be there! I'm glad they did the proshot, maybe one of these days I'll actually get round to watching it!
While I would love something new to come, I would love another run of amelie even more, I fell in love with the UK cast recording and need to find some way to see it
I am not a young adult, but there is a direct connection between me watching Heathers in a recent-ish Sydney run, and being subscribed to your channel -- and going to London for some shows, sometime after September 3. I do have the pro-shoot at least.
Halls!!!!! I want Halls to go to The Other Palace!!! It was a brilliant production at the Turbine & I NEED a return & a cast recording ASAP plz & thanks
As someone who’s coming to London in the fall to study theatre. It would be awesome if you did a lil video explaining like a beginners guide to UK theatre and the current state of theatre going into the fall.
the only thing that annoys me is that I got into Heathers almost 2 months ago, and I now have the time to go and see it. However, I cannot as the tour does not come near me and the west end run finishes in just over 2 weeks which only leaves the more expensive seats left. I have come to the conclusion that I will never be able to see heathers until it comes back to the west end - which is unknown :(
I don't think it will be ready, but I loved Halls at the Turbine Theatre and would love to see it in a bigger venue - think it would also fit well with the Other Palace's ethos!
Yes, I agree with you 100%. I went to see it Halls a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it (the songs are incredible!) I’m hopeful that we haven’t seen the last of the show yet
As someone who has been to the Haymarket stage door many times, that photo of it during the Heathers run blew my mind - I have never seen it that busy EVER
This was a great comprehensive video--especially since I admit to always being a bit confused by Heathers coming and going in London and when it played where. I do think you may be overestimating just how many off-Broadway venues there are that can support up and coming shows (musicals especially) commercially right now (so I don't mean places like The Public.) The off-Broadway scene has been in trouble for many years now.
Could it be possible a rennovation of the otherpalace theatre, and then beetle juice coming over, to see if people are interested before moving it over to another larger theatre
Very sad when this was announced, but didn't come as a surprise (especially with the recent release of the pro-shot). Its had a very successful run. Interesting hearing your thoughts. Agree with your thoughts about the young audience (I know this show was very easy to get cheap day tickets for, hence making it more affordable for the young). I believe having it both in the west end and tour has worked well (similar to what Lion king, Wicked and Hamilton are doing) and can see more shows doing this in the future. I can definitely see the show doing tours again in years to come making way for new upcoming actors to star in and for a whole new set of fans to discover the show (we haven't seen the last of heathers). Agree with your thoughts about the use of the other palace I just think with us coming out of lockdown they wanted to have a show that had been successful to generate there funds and now they will go back to the more traditional route for smaller shows (hoping that Halls gets a opportunity here). Will be catching the show one more time (on the tour) before it goes (will you be going again before it goes). Great if the rumours about Mean Girls are true but I think if it was coming it will be at a bigger venue.
True thoughts but I think personally it would be extremely ill-judged of the Other Palace to bring Mean Girls there. Granted, I really love the film and I would welcome the idea of Mean Girls coming to the West End but my problem is this. Firstly, I think it wouldn't shake off Heathers given the source material is so similar and a lot tamer in comparison so I feel the Other Palace would be associated with shows being solely for teen audiences. The other thing is I think this would really go against the ethos of the Other Palace as they are platforming shows that need support (in the case of Heathers I think less so but still when they opened it they said they were making changes to the original off-Broadway run) and with Mean Girls I believe it does not need support because it will definitely sell. Personally I think the idea of Halls the Musical would be an amazing place to stage it or better still a remounting of shows like My Sons a Queer or Cruise (or even better Lord of the Rings at the Watermill) as I think those are the shows which need support more than Mean Girls. I will say Sunset definitely threw a spanner in the works as I truly think Mean Girls would work so well at the Savoy but who knows now.
It’s just announced that Frank and Percy starring Sir Ian McKellen and Roger Allam is coming to The Other Palace after Heathers! After all, the play’s producer, Bill Kenwright, owns both TOP and Theatre Royal Windsor where F&P had its run. They could have chosen some venues like the Lyric or Haymarket, but anyway, this show can sell tickets regardless, especially someone like Ian and Roger who are theatre legends.
Never understood the appeal to the “Heathers” musical ever was. Then again, I hate musicals about high school students. Though, this just goes to show how different Broadway and West End audiences are.
Slightly shocked by the news 😮 Always been apprehensive to go due to the nature of its trigger warnings Not sure if I’ll be ok with it tbh Mean girls sounds interesting
Non-Equity is referring to Actor's Equity Association, the union of stage actors and stage managers. Meaning the Mean Girls tour is non-union. Needless to say, non-equity tours are...controversial.
Didn’t get to see newsies didn’t even know it was closing until I saw must end 21st July marketing for It at west end live so I hope it does come back :)
@@heatherchandlers The video of the final curtain call is on my channel, please feel free to watch it and the producer made an announcement at the end confirming the return of the show next year :)
To be honest we all knew this was happening very soon, it kept coming off west end and flopping there tours and not returning months after ans finding some money to re-open. But in conclusion it’s not the best
I think you got some of your tour information a bit mixed up. The first tour was announced over a year after the og London show closed and was then post poned, so it was meant to be in 2020 and because of covid it didn't start up until late 2021, the same time the second West End product was starting up
I’m actually really surprised, but I went with my dad to Heathers a few weeks ago, and none of his friends had ever heard of Heathers. I feel like barely anyone over the age of 30 knows what it is…
OK, now the important stuff. When is the date for Barbie the musical opening? Fan base already there, strong pictorial resources and the fact it still a toy...Barbie Musical could be the new long term running show
Wait, so they'll be making a film of a musical that is based on a film? This is like High School Musical: the Musical: the Series all over again😅 It is a shame about Heathers though, my friend and I have had almost-plans to see it for months but neither of us are going to have the time/money for it by September
Why has no one ever thought of heathers closing on September 3rd when really it should be closing on September 1st....or is it just me that thinks that makes perfect sense
Because the 3rd is a Sunday. If they closed on the 1st (Friday) they miss an opportunity for a final weekend rush
@@samf8379 I was making a heathers reference joke not serious
They are merely saying that it doesn’t ‘’make perfect sense’’ for it to close on a Friday

They sacked the Heather's band at The Other Palace? I didn't know this and as a musician I find this really disappointing and totally unacceptable
What happened with the band?
