Is there an instance where mixing live rough strain A and dead smooth strain B would produce a strain that is nonvirulent with no capsule? How do you know that it be would be virulent instead? Or is it by random chance?
Binary fission is asexual reproduction. Conjugation is horizontal transfer of DNA from one bacteria to another. I hate to think it’s sexual reproduction, but it’s the closest they come to exchanging DNA.
