I worked with a waiter. It was so sad. He openly told us he was waiting for his parent to die because he was going to inherit all the money. He lived with the "yolo" attitude. Spent every cent he had on crap and money he didnt have. A few years later, I heard through a mutual friend that he was angry as the parent passed away and he didn't end up getting near what he expected. He's verging on bankruptcy. It made my heart so sad. Imagine waiting for something like that? Not trying to make the most of what time you have left together building memories? I dread the day I recieve inheritance. It means I've lost someone I love dearly. I'd rather my parents around than any amount of money.

I know what you mean. I lost my father three months ago, and it has been so painful. I miss him so much and always will. My mother is 82, and will leave me a modest inheritance some day that will definitely be of assistance after I retire (I'm almost 58). But I would rather never see a dime of that inheritance if my mother could live healthfully for another 20 years!

Well I think it might be important to consider not everyone gets along with their family, or even worse hates their family for whatever reason.
Now if its just a case of the guy had a loving family, but he didnt care, and preferred money, yeah, thats pretty bad, and cold.

I can’t imagine wanting my parents to die just because of the financial inheritance. In fact, as much as I love picturing how my parents will partake in huge milestones (being there at my wedding, meeting their future grandkids for the first time, etc.), I get sad a bit that that shows how their time is running out.

    • @joejoe-bs6jq

I'm right with you. I tell the story to everyone that I can....my dad and I get haircuts together. We've been going to the same barbershop at the same time for 30 years....I'm in my 40s right now and dad is in his 70s. We are both nearly bald (ok, it's advanced male pattern baldness with a bit in back and the sides, and nothing on top). But, we go together to get our hair cut. Someone will ask why I don't just shave it off...and my response is because "one day, dad and I won't be able to get our haircut together." Maybe he'll be physically unable to, or he'll have passed on, but in any scenario, it's a darn shame and a loss.
So, yes, it makes my heart sad that that person you referred to that waited for his parents to die is on the verge of bankruptcy. That is sad that he waited to lose the people that he loved, then is losing the things that he thought he valued and will be left with neither.

For example, it's healthy for parents to show affection like hugging and kissing in front of their children, but it's not necessary for them to openly discuss details of their sexual relations. Likewise, it's enough for their kids to be shown that their parents are financially secure, industrious, prudent, and generous. The kids don't need to know the exact dollar amount in the bank.

The way i see it is that you either do this or you go crazy and leave your job go spend as much money as possible and give money to everyone you know. People who do that will spend all that money in just few years and after that they are way worse than before they won anything. 22 million sounds like a lot but it can go easily if you are now careful.

I'm so glad that someone like this guy was a lottery winner. He's humble and nice and now he's going to be more of that. He needs to focus on ensuring his children have the same personality type before any money is disclosed or given to them. The children need to WORK! Give them money when they are in their 30's and not a moment sooner.

The advice in the video is valuable for the typical American. What a great lesson to teach his future wealthy kids. I started investing when I was 30 back in 1998. Today, I'm 55 and have a decent $7.2M nest egg, thanks to the careful supervision of my CFP. After learning all of this, my only regret is not starting earlier when I was 25. It may not seem like much but those extra 5 years are the most important.

This is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial advisor often comes in very handy. That is how people are able to make such huge profits in the market.

I completely agree, this is why I decided to give a coach control over my everyday investing decisions. Their proficiency in research, specific knowledge, and risk management makes it difficult for them to deliver below expectations. They emphasize minimizing drawbacks while maximizing risk's asymmetrical potential. I have more than two years of investing coach experience, and I have made more than a quarter of a million dollars.

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life.

I don't know how I feel about the later half of this call..... When I was in my 20's I didn't know what I wanted to do in life, but not having to worry about money would have drastically reduced the stress, anxiety, and depression I felt during that time. If I had a kid and I had millions, I'd want my child to have a financially stress free life. If they wanted to play video games all day everyday and that's what gave them meaningful purpose than so be it. My wife and I have great jobs, but sometimes I wish I had the time to do things I enjoy... There's no point taking your money to the grave, let your kids experience a life you wish you had.
(And no i don't mean just give your kid millions... give them a lifetime allowance, teach them how to invest and save)

is really a privilege to have millions in inheritance and is the really smart to raise your kids to not have sense of entitlement so they can work for their own money. when your raise your lids right, their inheritance will be a bonus to them and they will manage it well because they have made their own money and see how hard its to make money. i was left with nothing but i was able to build a 7 figure net worth on my own. made the right investment decisions, save and create multiple streams of income. My overall grace was my Saving and investing lifestyle with the assistance of a financial planner who I met at a financial seminar. So it worked out great for me.

Invest in memories with your family that doesn't revolve around things or disclosing why or how you could buy such and such. Love it!
