      Hyrule Rito aren't based on parrots 😂
      Kaneli is an owl, Teba is an eagle, most of the other adults are some kind of hawk, the kids are all canaries.
      I think Kass is the only one based on a parrot.
      The other Zora settlement is likely on Northern or Eastern Hyrule from AoL.
      There was already loads of loads of lands outside Hyrule; AoL have northern and eastern Hyrule (which are also the same places as Hytopia and the Drablands from TFH. There's Holodrum and Labrynna from the Oracle games and the continent which eventually houses New Hyrule has a long history (and I believe is one of the two continents you can see from the Palace of Winds in MC). Then there is less canon but could be used Calatia and Arcadia which have never been seen but are real places in the er... extended canon. Moria is from the extended canon too but could be entirely made up in universe.
      If they added in a world hopping mechanic there's Lorule, Termina, and the Twilight Realm that could be expanded on.
      Then there's fan favourites Koridai, Gamalon and Tolemac which I think could absolutely be used as large and interesting islands in a future game if Nintendo got over themselves (on a side note, they should get the fan remasters of FoE and WoG on Switch as they show that with some QoL updates they're actually pretty good games.*)
      *second side note: The fan that remastered FoE and WoG has an original game in the style of those releasing on Switch on valentines day. I'm really looking forward to it after playing his remasters. If nothing else it should provide some great ytpoop material.

    This is one thing I love in Tears of the Kingdom: The focus on the people of Hyrule. After Calamity Ganon took so much from the world and made people afraid of stepping outside, people are coming back together, making new friendships, and welcoming each other.
    I love the Pirate Ship quests on the coast hinting to a larger pirate fleet in the ocean, and I have a theory Yona could be a reference to the Green Zoras from the original NES Zelda. This game's side content and the focus on the people is a perfect subtle way of exploring its message.

    • @javiervasquez625
      @javiervasquez625 7 місяців тому +7

      It's possible Yona could belong to this other "breed" of Zora from the 2D Era of Zelda games yet it's worth noting that the classic enemy variant of Zora are known for their distinctive "triton ears" which they possess on each side of their heads. Since Yona does not share such a feature instead having a mantaray-shaped head it's clear she's not related to the enemy breed of Zora.

    Sophie explicitly states that her sister, Cece, recently returned from her travels. If I'm not mistaken, their father, Seldon, also makes mention of this. Now as to whether she confined her travels to Hyrule (this version is quite large after all) or went beyond its borders is anyone's guess, but either way, she is originally from Hateno.
    While it is certainly possible he could be from another village outside of Hyrule, I do not recall Penn stating as such. He is not the only unique design among the Rito. Elder Kaneli is fittingly designed after an owl. Kass is designed after a macaw. Most of the rest, if not all, resemble birds of prey, including Teba and Revali, but even these two are made distinct from the others because of their story involvement. There are a few variations, naturally, but there is what one might call a generic Rito design just as there is for the Gorons, Zora, and even the human tribes of the land.
    There's also the fact that Kass is seemingly known to Penn since he can be found in Kass's retreat on Washa's Bluff. He doesn't mention him by name, but refers to him as a famous bard who once came there to clear his mind. Naturally, this does not mean that Kass could not have been known outside of Hyrule, but would an outsider have known this fact? I'm guessing not unless Kass himself told him of it. To me it was like Kass regarded it as his secret place, known only to a few. The way Penn refers to Kass is concerning because he almost speaks as if the bard in question passed away long ago. Kass's whereabouts is one thing I would like answered by Nintendo. While he could be traveling, it is not unfathomable that he fell to the Upheaval.

    This sorta gives me an idea. A future Zelda game could have invaders from another land be the antagonist. Hell, I think it would even be cool if Ganondorf somehow gained political control of some other country/continent/land and then used their military to invade Hyrule. Something like that.
    I could see part of the story taking place in Hyrule, trying to fight off the invading forces. And then midway through the story you take the fight to them.

The 4 neighboring kingdoms have been effected and all of the people in hyrule have evacuated while there are soldiers who are kept prisoners on Hyrule’s surface, sky, and depths? The 4 kingdoms were affected by demise as more monsters have ran rampage and a tribe from pre hyrule, known as the lomei, has their tech spawn in and have a 4th map known as the realms which is where they came from? You’ll never go back to hyrule for the endgame until you complete all of the 4 kingdom’s main quests.

    For future games: I've been wishing for a new game. In this game a background story of Ganondorf is displayed where you get to experience him grow from a child to and adult. With the purpose to kinda understand why he even is so obsessed with power. who are his parents exactly? (names, were they good parents ) and what were his relationships like with his people? Another aspect to the game I'd love added is where link can grow up as well ( child, teen, adult )while also showing his family background and more. And maybe give him siblings too. I also thought for a plot, it would be cool to use time travel like in the game "ocarina of time" but in this game link can travel back in time (become a child) to when ganon was a child with the purpose to befriend him to try to prevent catastrophe in the future. You'd meet ganon by saving him and then travel with him, completing tasks as partners. In this game, you'd be required to find a way to destroy the influence on Ganondorf to prevent him from becoming power hungry, but the twist is it all fails once Ganondorf secretly becomes jealous of and obsessed with his new friend links ablilties, which ultimately brings ganon to betray link in the end, so you'll have to fight him, lose the fight and all your strength to be pulled back to your original time to then need to re gather your strength to save the world. I love detailed stories in games but that develops over time as you get further into game play. It would be fun to have a child link again that grows up over time where he is in training to become the night of zelda. All these events I hope for and hope it can be exactly like the breath of the wild open world. Botw and totk are both really fun games with so much to do.

    @fenrirslip 7 місяців тому +6

    I'm inclined to believe that Yona could potentially be from Labrynna, the kingdom we explore in Oracle of Ages. Yes, she may not outright mention anything related to Labrynna in TOTK, but both Labrynna as well as Holodrum are only two out of three kingdoms/worlds outside of Hyrule that we have knowledge of. The other being Termina from Majora's Mask. As for Penn, I have no idea where he could be from. But for the sake of consistency, let's just say he's from Holodrum from Oracle of Seasons.
    The thought of these two characters originating from these two places makes me speculate that the next big 3D Zelda game could take place in either Labrynna, Holodrum or a combination of the two. This could be the case considering there have been rumors that the next Zelda game(s) to be remade would be Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons in a similar style to the Link's Awakening remake could be a "teaser" of sorts.

    To be fair an ever-increasing open world scope can easily contradict world building depth, which in a sense TOTK demonstrated by having to stretch some amount of content over much more space. Perceived depth _can_ rely on the mystery of distant lands and objectives, in the way that BOTW did with an entirely new map and, as you're doing now, by looking in the distance and wondering what could be there that would put the region we know into perspective... But once we reach a place it has to have a minimum of density, otherwise it's just another mountain or just another ruin. Even unique-looking structures can fall flat, like TOTK's Zonaite Forge Island or the diving rings that are initially very intriguing but have relatively little to pay off.
    Games with segmented areas can more easily increase density while having variety, which are two ways to add depth. I don't think (or even necessarily hope) that the Zelda devs will reduce the overall seamless connection of areas, but to make some parts feel more substantial they'll have to mix scope, in-scope restrictions, and how much they flesh out not only main points of interest but secondary ones too... If I had to decide myself I'd stop pushing a bigger scope because that's not relevant by itself and I'm not even sure it sells better past a point, with statements such as "12 times the size of the older game" or "16 times the details" not having aged particularly well... And even if Nintendo does have the means to do it, projects taking longer and longer don't necessarily benefit from it.

With this in mind it's perfectly possible for Nintendo to make games in between the convergence based solely on the fact the past games across the 3 timelines have all become _legends_ which may or may not have happened long ago in the forgotten past.

    However, I think the world will be fully populated with lots of unique NPC’s! Not that I necessarily want another Majora’s Mask “3 days repeating” thing going on, I did appreciate all of the lore and world building it did with its characters! They could and should do something like this where almost every NPC has some sort of optional quest that will expand upon that character and make the world feel more real because of it as you’ll get to better know these characters.

    I just chalked up the sudden population explosion across Hyrule as law of conservation of detail...in this case, not having any more characters than necessary. Like when you are walking into a Pokemon game city and there's half a dozen buildings total representing the entire city. The burned down homes in the ruins of Hyrule aren't really big enough to live in, with the same half-dozen or so designs copied and pasted all over the land.
    Before TotK I commented that the remaining population of Hyrule, if you took it literally, wasn't enough to sustain them in the coming generations, especially when at least three other groups would be zeroing in on stealing your members for mates...Sheikah, Gerudo, and maybe Zora. (No on the Gorons and the Rito...eh, not impossible, but not as likely.) And...that's still true, if you take it literally, even with the sudden increase in new NPC's. There's suddenly a lot more Sheikah, Gorons, and Zora as well to steal yo man (or woman), lol. 100 years just hasn't been long enough to replenish the incredible loss of life, and there's not enough left to avoid inbreeding, long term. So you have to take the issue with NPC's with a grain of salt.
