Does it retain water resistance after you do this? I notice there's no glue surrounding the camera module. Also, the double-sided tape will make future battery replacement more difficult.

After replacing the battery I noticed that my battery life wasn't much improved. It wasn't as good as when the phone was new. I used a reputable brand in my country. Then I checked the battery meter and I noticed that the battery usage time left was still 23h and 41m. I remember that when the phone was new, it said something like 42 hours left. Now the time to depletion was stuck at 23h 41m. I also noticed that charging time was quite a bit longer: the stock battery charged to full in just 2 hours with the stock 18w charger. Now it takes about 30 mins. longer using the same charger. 10w chargers took 2h 20m before. Now 2 hours charges the battery only up to 37% from 10%. I dunno what I'm missing here.
I've just realised why there are white spots on my screen, and the wide angle camera lens has gone out of position. The battery has blown and is forcing the back off, without any help of hot air or tools! Time for a new battery, before any more damage is done!
How do you use your phone to damage the battery from such a way? I want to know cause I want to avoid same experience with my note 8 pro, what are your thoughts 💭?
@@TheRodriSosa It's kept fully charged most of the time, which could be a reason for the battery having expanded. Anyway, I released the gas in the battery with a carefully placed pin (like bursting a balloon), then sealed the hole with Sellotape - and surprisingly it has restored it back to 100% power - the white spots on the screen disappeared and the wide angle camera works properly again. The replacement battery that I bought, can stay in the draw for a bit longer! :-)
Thanks for the video. I follow all the passages but now my Note 8 Pro no longer makes any sound. The buttons work, i see the volume bar going up or down but no sound comes out of the speaker. Where did I go wrong?
Wait long enough and the glass back pops off all on its own. No hot air or brutal force required! The battery 'balloons' and slowly pushes it off over a period of a couple of months. The first sign that this has started to happen, is when white spots start to appear on the screen (as the LCD panel is squeezed). Then the wide angle camera produces photos with stigmatism effect - centre bright and all four corners dark. I wrongly thought my phone was heading in the direction of the dustbin - until I removed the silicone armoured case, that was holding the entire thing together! Very clever design, by Xiaomi! 😂
@Clarissa 1986 There's a reasonable chance it will, eventually. It's actually an easy way of knowing when the battery is in need of replacement - and far better than it breaking the screen - as happens on many other phones.
Mine has almost 3 years now and no swelling at all. The only issue is that the battery doesn't last as long as before. For what I know, swelling happens when the phone is stored or not used for long periods of time.
Anyone can help me? The two sticky tapes ripped apart when I tried to pull on them. Battery not coming loose. Any ideas how I can loosen it? EDIT: I had to break the case into pieces and buy a new one. But at least the battery is still working and the smartphone is good as new now 😄

My issue with mine is that it keeps force restarting if I do not use it while charging so I think it must be related to the phone
