Coronavirus effect: have you ever seen Venice like that?

Venice on vacation. So beautiful and peaceful!
Stay safe venetians!
hmm.... dirt, neglected buildings
They aren't neglected buildings they are century old buildings lol. They not going to look brand new. Venice does a lot of work of the infrastructure, albeit not enough with the rising water levels. But that's a different issue. If you think history looks too dirty for you, you are welcome not to go.
Earth is taking a break from us. Stand strong Italy, we love you!
Keep those boarders closed for a long time heal your city and your people. Let the people of Venice enjoy their city before it floods with tourists
MrKiwispirit - right, buildings heal when unmolested. Right.
Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day for 5 days ; azithromycin 500 mg once per day for 5 days; zinc sulphate 220 mg once per day for 5 days. => no deaths, no intubations, no hospitalizations.
I think those "boarders" will want their rooms cleaned occasionally. Jes' sayin'
Go and clean them js saying
Venice is a tourist destination. The town can not survive without the income that tourist bring in.
THIS Is the way we would all love to have experienced this world treasure. Not so long ago Venice struggled with the horrific floods ,now THIS. She IS a survivor so with God's help may SHE rise once again. Have seen her twice , each time during the fall when it was less crowded about 35 years apart and yes the water damage and sinking was noticeable. However the garbage floating in the canals had been almost ellimated with no odors. This was a relief, as I had been so worried the pollution of the canals would be worse. VENICE MUST BE PRESERVED AT ANY COST, there are not enough words to express the beauty of this magical city as well Italy as a whole. We in the U.S. hear daily about the horrible COVID 19 effects on hard hit Italy and are praying this will end soon. I fell in LOVE with the Italian people in all areas of Italy, their enthusiasm, hospitable, kind and genuine nature will be remembered always.
Remarkable. Venice is the most beautiful place on earth. May you live a long and beautiful life Venetian!
WELL SAID 💙💙💙BEAUTIFUL INDEED
I agreed definitely
This is the city I love the most. So wonderful to see her without mass tourism and large ships. The canals are blue for once. God bless you all.
Praying for Italy.
daAnder71 praying for you, that you feel better.

Joseph dahi how is everyone?
Joseph dahi I’m happy to hear things are getting better there! We still have increasing numbers here in US. I’m still praying for us all.
I love Venice. Was there last September. There’s something peaceful about watching this video.
Go to afghhanistan
I have been to Venice many times, I love the city, but I would love to be in Venice now, because its so peaceful looking and not congested with people, it looks great people ruin everything love to Venice 🇬🇧 🇮🇹
venice should really put a quota on tourism, its sad to see one of the most culturally important city in the world being destroyed. Great respect to all venetians who refused to move out from venice because of the chaos it has become.
Those cruise ships are too much
Once it was the Venetian Repubc
@ I totally agree with your propositiin to make it a destination for high class, not low class tourism, like today. it is incredible that local authorities are not able to protect the city like it deserves. In Bergen Norway already the local authorities have passed laws to limit the number of cruise ships that are allowed to embark, because these kind of mass tourism do not bring cash , they just destroy and make it crowded
@@Frue_denFrie I visited Venice for the first time last year. We stayed 9 days and we loved it. What I didn't like was the massive cruise ships. They are way to big, and they cause much damage.
But Venice and it's people are just amazing. It needs more than 2 or 3 days to see it.
My wife and I saw Venice like that back in May of 1979. We arrived at the train station about 4:30. Very little was open and we couldn’t check in to our accommodation so we decided to walk around. Got to st. Marks square and it looked like this. It was glorious. Obviously it didn’t stay that way as the day went on.
Venice really needed a break. I’m glad the world is healing.
The whole world too
I hope.
It Just started...
What a stupid comment. I think you need a break too... go to the hospital and have a rest. Let’s see if you understand the difference between a break and the silence of the war.
You have no human feelings
On one hand, this is really sad, but as a photographer and videographer, this is like a dream.
this breaks my heart! i visited Venezia last year and seeing it like this brings tears to my eyes. Andra tutto bene. forza italia e tutti mondo
They wanted no more tourists - sometimes dreams comes true ...
I think the locals would like to see they city this way. Too many tourists have ruined Venice.
Guilty 😔
@@gianmariacelardi8580 I hate to disagree with you but I know there are parts of Venice where locals live.
gian maria celardi you’re wrong. I was born and raised in Venice. And my parents and grandparents still live and work in the city. There are plenty of locals in Venice, and most of those locals work in the tourist industry and want to start making money again
@anzarazz There is a huge difference between shops, bars, restaurants near Santa Lucia's station and Piazza San Marco's . In my experience food and items near Santa Lucia's station have a regular price.
Venice is resting. Serenissima! Always beautiful!
In this hard times, the whole planet 🌍 is getting a break 😍
Just what was needed to help the city recover. No cruise ships bow waves destroying history. No huge congestion and hopefully a slow in deaths.
Barb Rawlings Burn those cruise ships or make them homes for the homeless. Never again should Venice be trashed!
The virus has been the least forgiving to cruise ships, in a slightly cruel twist of irony, or karma which ever way you prefer to look at it.
I glad you caught this on camera.
Italia ti amo! 🇮🇹 ❤️
Very sad indeed.😞 Who would have thought we would come to this. Beautiful Venice 🌹
now we can see how Beautiful Venice is!

@Panter Panta A ridiculous oversimplification. Venice was a commercial and maritime power for centuries, study a little more.
@@67claudius I know very well, but the city of Venice was founded in 421 AD, on March 25th.

Scientists are getting a perfect opportunity to study the results of reduction of human impact on the environment. They will have new data now.
Venice is beautiful. If you set aside the cause of this, I can’t help but notice the peaceful element here.
Venice was built on the bustle of trade, not the desolation of so- called “peace”.
ohnofan this was the emergency climate action we needed for sure! Not to dismiss the virus just looking at the positive. Really hoping countries pay attention and react accordingly and logically once restrictions are lifted. They should be talking about it now.
Enjoy my dear Venetians, ENJOY. This is what you always wanted: no tourists. I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city in a supposedly low season and the amount of people gave me anxiety.
Yeah but you were not a tourist?..
Forza Italia!
Salute from Finland !
It's like time is in slow motion...a different time and space. I love Venice.
Sad to see this...good luck
God bless you Italy. Love from India.
How will they all feed their families without an income. We have 2 months booked and paid for April and May. All cancelled. I hope all the merchants can survive till we all get back....we're coming as soon as we can. Bless you all for being there. B&E=BE
My wife and i are in love with this city! We can’t wait to go back and experience it with our little girl. This place is one of the most magical and romantic places on earth.
Venice, so especially beautiful without homo sapiens virus!

I Love to travel I was in Venice last year many of my stops in my European vacation. In every city no matter where I am at I visit, it's a must to walk around the city around 1 am or later and go to the places that are normally packed with tourists & have them to myself. It brings me such Joy. To see it during the day so empty it's eerie. Italy & the world I pray for you.
I AM IN LOVE WITH VENICE AND EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PLACE ITS JUST MY KIND OF PARADISE ON EARTH BUT SHES HAVING A WELL EARNED NAP NOW FROM THE TOURISTS IM SURE ALL THE MAYHEM WILL RETURN ONCE THIS VIRUS IS OVER WITH 🌹🛳🛶⛵🚣♀️🚣♂️🌞🌞
I live for Venice! Simply the best. Hands down. No competition. Every corner is to be studied& researched. Such an alive place for a curious person.
Mine is more much more than LOVE! I already live in Italy, though not in Venice. But, I am actively working on a move there. I do plan to stay off the dreadful tourist paths.
LUCKY YOU THOMAS WISH I COULD LIVE THERE SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL 🌞
Make it a plan. Write it down on paper and sketch out the steps. It is there, waiting for you!
Thomas come to Burano then. But don’t spread much the message
Keep safe Venetian, I know this is not the kind of rest you want for your lovely city but at least, without many tourist and only you walking about and buying your essentials, your place has began healing and breathing easily...God Bless you all
Years ago, there was a bomb scare in London and Regent Street was closed. I went right up to the tape that had been strung across the road and, without all the traffic and people, it was a revelation how attractive the street was. You noticed the architecture a lot more. And the same here with Venice. If you live there or can get there right now, it would be fantastic to wander around without the hordes of tourists. Peaceful and pleasant as this video shows!
I used to be there twice in 2008 and 2017 it was extremely crowded... but now unbelievable.. quiet clean calm and sadness ...
It's the government's fault for not limiting the number of visitors and allowing cruise ships to come and go... Venice is beautiful but the inhabitants are suffering
Venice, your beauty shines, stay strong, you are a city with heart.
We're planning to be there in early October, while it won't be deserted,I suspect it wont be as crowded as our last visit.
David Giles and 98% of humanity is not thrilled to listen to hear some people are so eager to be a virus again in Venice.
Superb place ... missing it ... may god be with Italian people ..
Went there in November during the floods, it was something special and definitely the best trip I've taken. Glad to see she's getting a rest. Forza Italia 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
So glad I was able to see this beautiful city last year before this pandemic
I left Venice one week later the coronavirus arrived. I hope I van return to that beautiful city
Same here in Milan last week it was so beautiful to walk around without people.but to be honest I also feel sad.
I love Venice. Stay strong Italy!
Thanks for this beautiful video.
Μute and deserted the beautiful Venice!!!!!!!! Around the world all the route loke like this!!!!!
Hello from new friend here 😊💐
Venice takes a breather. A few months ago it was awash in tourists. Thousands of them crammed shoulder to shoulder into the Piazza. It's nice to see the city's architectural and urban design features without the monstrous crowds. Soon enough however people will be back, perhaps not in the same numbers. But the city will be back, as it has always.
Beautiful..I am glad you this on camera..the music
Does anyone know what the music is that playing during this piece?
Absolutely beautiful!! But you can never actually be there when it is like this. Ironic!!
Me was there in September 2021, and it was a busy Town. I had a nice Week
I'm deeply in love with the art and architecture of Venice, so it fills me with wonder to see it freed from throngs of tourists and cruise ships. But I also sorrow for the many Venetians who can't afford to live there anymore.
All the best, Italy!
I was actually there a day or 2 before the lockdown on northern Italy and it was amazing, very peaceful.
Did you hug a Chinese?
@@indianabroad4530 nope, wasn't on my to do list
Looks so peaceful and serene !
Beautiful magnifique
I hope that the Italian government implements some serious changes after lockdown as to how many tourists would be allowed into Venice at any given time! Maybe with some exceptions i.e. Carnevale or Christmas etc. And I pray that all those hideous gigantic cruise ships are not allowed to come that close to Venice ever again. They could throw their anker outside the city and people could come by other means to see the city. It is obvious that Bella Venetia benefits from a bit of a rest. Tourism can be managed in different ways, it wouldn’t have to be always total overload. Let’s see what positive lessons can be learned from this time. I am so glad I had the great pleasure of visiting Venice for a whole week, I arrived 2 days after Carnevale and the city was relatively empty. What a privilege it was to be there to meander through the narrow streets, discover hidden treasures and mingle with the locals respectfully . Thank you for posting this beautiful video 🙏.
The irony is, Venice looks very beautiful without all those tourists. Well, at least for us youtube viewers. But for those who make their living on tourism, it is a whole other story I guess. Hope Venice and Italy recovers, and maybe now it's time to relax and think about the coexistence of tradition and mass tourism( economy) in future. 🇮🇹✌🍀
It’s so peaceful, I like it
Streets and canals that I know well but no I’ve never seen it like this. Still beautiful but my thoughts are for the people living there. You have been through a terrible time with flooding and now the pandemic. I hope you come through it all stronger and with more control of your future and that none of this happens again.
All of our prayers to the people of Italy to comfort their suffering and bring an end to this tragedy.
Roba da fantasia! Bellissima cosí
It must have been really hard for the shopkeepers and restaurant owners in Venice
I was born and raised in Venice....I miss home more and more everyday. I married and American and live intone states now. I wish more people could see Venice for its true beauty like this and not when is packed with tourist an pollution.
Seeing these scenes makes me think that when this is over, Venice should have one day per year during which it asks tourists not to come, and allows the Venetians to enjoy their own city without the crowds as it was meant to be lived in. I know it is dependent on tourist income, so that is why I do not suggest limiting tourists year-round as others here do (though I hear that they do that in Cinque Terre, and I'm told it works there), but it would be nice to see this sort of atmosphere for the locals at least once per year, but without the restrictions on distancing, eating at restaurants, etc.
Even the water is drained away
Beautiful tremendous wonderful fantastic incredible amazing. Thousands & thousands & Covfefe Venezia !
