This is very common tho. Songs were produced and made and they're not always gonna be released at the time of production. Sometimes SM just kept all those songs for future release to see which artists can use it in the future. For example, Red Velvet's Zimzalabim was produced in 2016 around the same time as Russian Roulette and there were debate whether it should be in their EP at the time
Another example is that, not all songs made with certain artists in mind are gonna end up with that song. NCT DREAM Chewing Gum and EXO Ko Ko Bop was originally for Red Velvet

It is the least surprising thing ever to hear that SM will have a team make a song then randomly have some other producer make a part (like the bridge) on his/her own and then they just use it. Lol. That's how you end up with these Kpop songs (esp SM songs) that sound like 3-4 different songs pieced together into one song.

What I love about this is that they piece together songs and OWN IT. Sure, there are elements that definitely makes you think like "Oh, this sounds like an SM song" but it's so distinct for one group which makes it unique. Lately, a lot of 4th Gen sounds quite similar to some other groups already existing. It is kinda disappointing coz a lot of the idols really have good vocal styles but it's being wasted by the company's choice of music.

After watching this, I appreciate Savage more. Don't get me wrong, I've been listening to Savage but there are few things that I missed like the sounds effects, and the story behind every parts. ✨✨✨

As a Korean and light listener of Kpop, this is really cool and educational(?) for me to understand the producing process of songs from one of the major Kpop entermaintment companies! I've been always wondering how SM and other companies get to create a title track with non-Korean(or Kpop )songwriters and this is it!! It is great to know that the songwriters had their moment and could liberate themsleves while writing a song of Kpop genre. (which can be ANYTHING lol) Thank you for the interview Umu!!!

As someone who is a huge fan of hyper-pop I was just waiting for someone to mention it
Aespa is definitely one of my fav groups in terms of sounds them having a hyper-pop sound is one of the big reasons 😩🤚
Omg and he mentioned Sophie! Sophie is where it’s at 🙌🙌🙌

Crazy inspiring interview, so incredible to know more abou the creation of the masterpiece that is savage, specially hearing it from these bright, creative and passionate minds 💖 massive respect for all of you, there is not a SINGLE section or line in that song that isn’t iconic

thank you for this beautiful interview i always have fun watching your interviews specially with those producers who worked with SM, these guys are very talented and fun to talk to i wish we could see them again with a new interview 😍
guess what i was waiting to hear Yoo Young Jin name cause his name was mentioned literally in every section of the credits 😭
I'M HIS BIGGEST FAN EVER THIS GUY IF THERE IS A WORD HAVE BIGGER MEANING THAN "LEGEND" Then he deserve it as a SINGER and PRODUCER.
I hope next time when you interview producers who worked with Legendary producer Yoo Young jin and please ask them about what they learned from him or what section they did and what he did or what things he did add to the song cause is guy is so mysterious you can barely find interview for him 😭
the first time i heard Savage i didn't like the song but it somehow gave me YYJ vibes but my most fav part was the bridge and now i know the reason I'm kind of have YYJ 6th sense i always catch his touch to a song like Next level my fav part was the bridge and next part Interlude starting from "Beat drops Navis calling" until the end of the Rap when the beat gets into a back to the old one i always loved that part the most, but it was recently i knew that this part was made by YYJ 😭
    ..
your shocked face when you know that YYJ did female key 😭
when you spent 13 years paying attention to his voice in the backgroud you will know all his vocal ranges.. i knew this since i heard his high note with Taeyeon in The boys and Taeyeon song Devil Cry he did some also in this song, his voice all over Aespa songs from Forever until Girls his parts are equal to 5th member 😂🩷
Black Mamba have a small part of his voice.
believe it or not but I THINK all SM songs that was produced by him The guide will be by him wrether its Male or female song cause there is no impossible tone for him.
this is expected from Changmin, D.O and Winter Vocal Teacher.
SM lost a DIAMOND letting him leave the company in march 2023 😭💔
