When she said, "we'll end up painted on the road red and chrome, all the broken glass sparkling, i guess we're partying." I knew it was the best album I have ever heard.
I found this album at the perfect time in my life. I had just gone through my first breakup, and I was turning 19. I was getting out of a relationship of three years. It’s almost insane how much this album correlated to my life at this exact time. Lyrics about being 19 and being in a relationship for three years were so specific to my situation and solidified this album as my favorite ever. It will always be important to me

YES Melodrama! I've been obsessed with this album since 2017 lmao. It came out when I was in middle school but when I had my first breakup years later I came back to it. The album really helped pull me through. It had all those overly intense, overdramatic feelings that I had at the time, too. So happy you're making a video about it!
Still the Album of the century 💙 This album is ahead of its time. I really her lyrics is almost like a poet, she’s unique! That’s why this album got a 91 meta critic And in the list of the BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIMES by Rolling Stones. This album is a perfect example of Lyrics and Production perfectly married to each other.
this is such a nostalgic album for me. I've definitely been head over heels for a few people and I can feel myself going through all these motions when I listen to this. I can't put my finger on a favorite but as a body of work it's amazing
I honestly feel this way as well, I was going through a bad break up when this album came out, but this album helped me so much. Now listening to it at almost 30 it is kinda nostalgic and reminds me of young love.
In “hard feelings/loveless” she sings about a “loveless generation” and I can’t help but wonder if it’s a reference to bell hooks’s book, “ all about love” where she writes about how we’re living in a loveless generation. Idk just a thought
Melodrama came out a month before I turned 21, and while I wasn't going through a break up at the time, I was going through this turbulent time where lots of things where changing and I felt like I was struggling to keep up with my peers, to fit in at the parties, to be myself.. I felt like I was doing "being young" wrong, and knew it was a period that I just had to go through but it felt like forever. Pure Heroine was an album that was so important to me, it's essentially the soundtrack to my teens, so when Melodrama was announced I was so excited but also scared that I might not connect with it. I vividly remembered the evening Green Light was released and I listened to it on repeat for hours. The album just came out exactly when I needed it, you know? But Lorde always manages to do that for me somehow. When Solar Power (which I love more with each listen) came out I felt like I was finally in a place where I could enjoy life, and look back to who I was when PH en Melodrama came out with love towards myself. And my sister and I have been to the concert for all three of Lorde's album tours, so it's like actual chapters in my life that I got to commemorate on with her. Anyway! My favourite song on the album is Sober II (Melodrama) I often used to listen to it after parties as I was cleaning up and sort of have this private moment where I was so aware of the moment in my life I was going through.
Aw I read all of this and I love that she matched so many phases of your life with her albums. That’s the power of listening to music in your younger years and having all these memories associated with the songs. Thanks for sharing this!
didn’t know i needed this. thank you. i’m truly grateful to have seen her live a few months ago. she is an amazing writer and taking a moment to analyze her lyrics is like a jab in the heart in the best way possible!
the quality of the videos you make, the analyzation, the details you say, you're literally the greatest youtuber in this kind of content! you're the best! 😍💖
lmao the beginning of your video has me cracking up! 😂 I'm glad you're doing this album review funny thing is I didn't like the album at first now it's one of my all time favorites. L.O.V.E.L.E.S.S GENERATION 😉
girl its the way you made this when my crush doesnt notice me- i've been REPEATING THIS ALBUM over and over again. also, i fucking love this video. its a different turn from reaction videos (which dont get me wrong, i love) and i love it
Loved your pov on "Green light", the "she knows she is going to get to the green light and she has to process the emotions"!!!!! Know I even love more the song
OMG this video is a dream come true for me!!! Btw are you interested in listening to Graceland by Paul Simon? It's a world music album and Lorde said she got a lot of inspirations from it when writing Melodrama :)
omg Sher have you listened to Ys by Joanna Newsom?? Shes a harpist and poet who makes songs that are like poems and they all have such a deep meaning I think she would be perfect for you to react to
if you haven’t listened to them yet, i’d actually really love to see reactions to like DAMN or mr morale and the big steppers by Kendrick Lamar. I think you could bring a really different perspective than a lot of other reactors
Pleaseee react to Sufjan stevens album “carrie and lowell”, it is truly a masterpiece in songwriting and lyricism! One of my favourites off the album is “fourth of july” where he recites his last moments with his absent mother (who died on the 4th of july) and the song follows their final conversation, each stanza being sung from the perspective of himself and then his mother’s response. It truly is heartbreaking in the most beautiful and profound way. You will not regret delving into his world of music❤️❤️❤️
I love every song on this album and what an experience . My firat relationship it was a horrible feeling, all the emotions you go through. When we would party I hated being jealous, when my partner would talk to another female.😮 so I would start an arguement. Go physco and would think self harm, to get my partner attention…. That is what being inlove does to you. I swore never to go through that again. Bad experience 😅😅 All her songs I rate 10/10 This album

Hm that’s such an interesting thought: I wonder is Lorde has read her work.
