funfact!! no cgi was used in the super mv!! they had over 200 dancers with them and it was all filmed outside in front of that building (they used real lighting to make the effects in the building)

In Super MV, THE8 only participated for that part bc of his injury, so it’s cool they gave him a little spotlight there! he pull of these kinds of concepts for sure!
I read someone say on the behind the scenes for the video he said he was only there for the part of the video because he was in China for something and made it back just for that part. I haven't watched the behind the scenes so I can't confirm it, but just what I've heard. I thought it was because of his injury too at first.

Super and F*ck My Life are actually double title tracks for their latest album, which is a first for SEVENTEEN !!
Super showcases their prowess in choreography, which is why the music video feels more like a performance video in comparison to F*ck My Life, which encompasses the main theme that they're going for in the album-which is turning the negativity in their lives into a positive spin
That is why instead of cursing in english ( like one might expect while reading the title lol ) , they say "Fight for My Life" as an alternative to "F*ck My Life"
I love both songs because they empower listeners in different ways-the first being an energetic mood booster to make you feel like a main character in an anime, and the second being an emotionally-driven anthem to people who are trying to live their mundane lives despite the struggles

and i tried listening to them, liked some of their stuff but not most of it but fml is so good idk how many times I've listened to it since it came out. it just spoke to me on so many levels and it sounds amazing. really love that song
this came up in my autoplay so i was like "might as well rewatch" and god i'll never not be in love with the scene of Jeonghan in FML waiting for them. Not only does it represent very well how he fits into the team with how he always has an open ear for the members and takes care of them. But what I love even more about the scene is that it uses the image of an island--a symbolism that he used himself when talking about what kind of person he wants to be. He said during ITS2 that he hopes to be a person who is like an island that you can come to whenever you're struggling. The MV using this beach setting feels so deliberate to me and I love that.
In FML, the thing that falls out of the lamp that falls over during DK’s scene is a hidden camera. I guess another reference to The Truman Show as others have mentioned.

I understand that it would be a pretty confusing mv without context and geeting all the references to the Truman show. Thanks to Twitter and the fact that there was a minute long teaser with scenes from the MV I already knew each members storyline but it's all in very small details
Super is inspired by Dragon Ball Anime and Journey the to the West, even some of the dances moves and their wardrobes refer to Dragon Ball main character, Goku. While FML MV is inspired by Truman Show, which really matches with the song anyway. Having mega crew for Super is insane! This is the most insane performance of Seventeen by far. As a dragon ball fan, I truly appreciate it. The thing that fell off of the lamp when ball accidentally hit it is camera, I think. DK has been watched and locked.
"Super" is in response to "FML", where Seventeen become the anime/cartoon character (the Monkey King Sonongong which inspired Dragon Ball) that Hoshi sings about in "FML"...the hero that faces every misfortune thrown at him, never quits, and wins. Sonongong rides a cloud, has a staff that reaches to the sky to pull down power, and teleports by putting his two fingers to his forehead.
Damn, I've always only been like omg this song is so good whenever I listen to "F*ck My Life," but your comments during the MV has made it become such an emotional song 😭 This is the problem with me being the type to never read lyrics and just listen to the song

pd over on form of therapy gave a pretty in depth analysis on how super is inspired by the anime dragonball z, it’s actually really cool, woozi said he had to tell the company to just trust him when he mentioned that’s what the song is about hah, it’s such a cool concept and he incorporated so many aspects of the anime into the lyrics and choreo, just awesome
Rather than pre-release, SUPER and F*CK MY LIFE are actually both title tracks. SVT finally release a double title track album with FML 😊💖
Super was not a pre-release this album has two title songs. Super being one of them and it was not a performance video it was actually the official MV. F my life the concept was based off the movie The Truman Show if you noticed there was surveillance cameras, hidden cameras throughout the video and when Dk opens his curtains there are drones flying by his window.

Thanks for this. I've always loved your reactions. In FML, I appreciate the lifeline reference you made. In DK's 'story' I think there was a camera in the lamp. I found that SVT messages are always true. The Truth, like in their early years, a B side song 'Still Lonely' is one of my favorites. Check out the words. I wrote this under another reaction, but want to share here, too.
Woozi (a highly empathic INFJ) said he wrote this in the middle of the night, and it was very hard. He himself was going through a hard time (something similar to what's known as "the dark night of the soul). He said he had to dig deep and face all the "demons" and negativity that not only he was experiencing (think of their song "Shadow" which is all about doing shadow work and integrating/embracing your own "dark" side) but what people worldwide are facing right now, and it became very emotional for him and HARD to write the song. The purpose is to express what I would say the majority of the world's population are thinking/feeling right now, especially in those countries where people are under surveillance (Seungkwan, a whistleblower, in the corporate world, trying to escape like Truman did; DK finding a camera in his lamp and drones outside his window, so he smashes his TV which may also be spying on him; etc.), where everything wrong seems to be happening (Woozi doesn't even HAVE a driver's license and doesn't drive on purpose, so he probably would feel dumb trying to start a car and turning on the wipers instead...but Truman's car wouldn't start either), Mingyu having a stage camera fall on his car (just like the camera fell nearly hitting Truman in The Truman Show...Wonwoo trying to leave but getting blocked only to end up with it raining on only his right side (meaning the world is fake)...there are SO MANY references to The Truman Show in this video it's unreal!), Joshua saying goodbye to a friend only to find a button pin just like Truman did sharing Truth. They're all trying to escape the "set" or "stage" of life, but keep getting blocked. Truman desperately wanted to go overseas, purchased tickets, but was too afraid of the water to go. Woozi has a ticket, but keeps getting blocked...again, just like Truman did. The only way Truman could escape was to put a dummy in his bed (like Hoshi) so the producers of the show would think he was sleeping while he ran away. Did you notice that the drawing in the mirror that Hoshi is looking at is a monkey...referring to Sonongong...the mythical Monkey King of their latest blockbuster hit? And another thing I found significant is that as Dino is looking up at the night sky, the Big Dipper constellation changes into the Southern Cross. (The Cross.) The title of the book Woozi is reading is "Microwave and RF Design of Wireless Systems"...a tip of the hat to a "conspiracy theory" that we're being zapped with negative energies via technology (including our cell phones). It's significant that S.Coups finally walks over and turns off the lights on the set, indicating this life is nothing but a stage. Once the lights are out, that's when you see the ocean, with storm clouds forming in the background....just like the director of The Truman Show created to drown Truman once he finally beat his fear and got on a boat. TOO MANY references to the movie; and it's EXACTLY how people are feeling everywhere. Even Minghao (aka The8) said he's felt this way many times, and his only salvation--which is everyone's--was to find himself, which he does through meditation. So overall I think the video is beautiful...Seventeen letting their fan base CARATs (as in diamonds) know THEY UNDERSTAND what they're feeling...especially those in China and other tightly controlled countries...and that the way to overcome is to return to and find yourself. Don't quit, don't let the numbness (apathy) set in, don't hide your feelings by just laughing it off, don't fear your past self embarrassing you now because your past self isn't who you are now. FIND YOURSELF. FIGHT For Your Life (the billboards behind Jun read "Nothing Will Make You Happy", "Waves of Fear Coming To You" l, "Never Make Mistakes" and "Avoid Challenges/Stay Safe"...the messages/propaganda of the world and what we must fight to find ourselves and WIN.
I know others have said it, but I wanted to add a little more about what it means to me the references to Truman Show and also some context for Seventeen - Seventeen have referenced Truman Show often themselves, saying it is their favorite movie, doing a Truman Show esque concept on Going Seventeen - when they were pre-debut they had a content called Seventeen TV I think it was? But basically CCTV in the practice spaces and they were watched all the time. I think this caused them to identify and relate to that movie on a deeper level and why it has made such an impact on them.
Then if we think about the story of The Truman Show and the message of the song F*ck My Life, Truman was living in a world that made a role for him, where his day to day was being created to entertain the masses. Clearly this is something they would relate to on a massive scale as idols and with their background, but I think the takeaway message is that in this situation Truman could see the box around him start to show and felt trapped. He wanted to find a true happiness that was meaningful to HIM and not what other people expected of him or wanted to see for him themselves. He wanted to be able to accomplish and experience things of his own making as well.
So when we think about the lyrics of this song, that talk about feeling stupid and that their self is shrinking or disappearing, and that maybe they don't even want to continue to tomorrow because they'll only be an embarrassment to themselves... they realize that the remedy to this situation is that they have to fight to find themselves and to find happiness in their own way. It's an encouragement to really fight to find our own happiness as well. I really think it's SO powerful and beautiful.
I also think it's not only young coming of age types who feel like the stupidest person in the world - things happen sometimes and even if we know rationally as we get older that we're not the only ones, it can still FEEL like we're the only one. It's reassuring (if still sad) to hear lyrics that remind us that this isn't a unique experience only to ourselves, and that we can get through it as well - especially if we recognize we aren't really alone, and we can find people to help us fight for happiness in our shared experiences.

This music video homaged the movie Truman Show! It's definitely different when you get to know it's different
Super was inspired in son goku (lyric and choreo) and the fml mv is heavily inspired in the truman show movie!
Super is a good performance song and the choreo is amazing but for me it’s just that. It’s not type of songs that I would listen to on my own. Either way they are best group when it comes to performances and choreos they are just too good

Songs like this usually get the most playtime for me. Not something I'll turn on when lying in bed, but while I'm at the gym which is where I listen to 90% of my music
They are one of my ult groups but seriously this comeback didn’t do it for me it was just okay; I only enjoyed two of the bsides. Super is a good performance song but that’s about it
That all said the choreo for this and their performance is unmatched in my opinion. No one comes to their levels when it comes to synchronization and energy
