I had wondered about Emma's driving , not in a sexist way , I just thought Alex might be a cr**p driver and em wouldn't let him on self preservation grounds
It isn't necessarily a sexist question. When my wife and I are together she always drives, not because of gender, just because she is a much better driver than me
These two need to be snapped up by channel 4 or BBC to create a travel show! Hilarious and professional. The love these guys have for each other is so clear to see. Been watching loads of your episodes. "THERE'S WINE IN THE F**KING BUTTER" 😂😂
Yeah, it´s more like: Why do I care about weirdo people asking about Emma doing all the driving. What are these people? Dudes, why do you care about who is driving - is your life seriously boring in that way you have to ask for that? Come on... What is wrong with you. There is such an uncredible lovely couple - just enjoy watching them having an adventure!
You are so beautiful. Lady, don't look at anyone. I will just keep on praying for you both. Happiness is your destiny. Life is happy. Lots of heartfelt prayers for both of you all the time.
Yes, we're about to start semiretired van life (home made sprinter like you all did) in the USA. We've been following you two for many YEARS and are so proud of the success you've seriously earned. And yes Al, we've always been impressed by your editing. But honestly, you guys have fully grown into an amazing team. Your channel is NEVER boring and always a joy, even these "day in the life" episodes:) Sending Best Wishes and Blessings, James and Kim ❤
Alex's commentary on the whole camping commode process had me rolling!! You both have such an uplifting happy energy, super sense of humor! I have never found anyone I would live in a van with, so it's really nice to see how you two make it such a special experience.
I do all the driving as well for two reasons. I like to drive and my husband gets really sleepy when he drives. It works for us. Love how y'all work together!!!
Yes Alex/Alan, you have a white tailed eagle and looks like it's still not out of it's immature stage. You tell em Emma, why do you have to ask, it's a person driving and it doesn't matter if it's male or female. Great video, you need to see that "van life" has it's ups and downs as well as challenges. You two seem to have it all sorted out and doing a great job as individuals and as a couple. Your videos are awesome and I always look forward to them. And yes, I think I would do just fine living in a van that small, but I'm not a couple so I can't say for sure if I would do well sharing that size of a space. Take care you two!
You can tell that it's immature because the tail feathers haven't gone completely white, correct? Kind of like the white heads of bald eagles in the States?
You both are a hoot! Always making me laugh with each new video I watch, and seeing the different parts of the world is pretty awesome. Everyone has their niche, miss Emma is an excellent cook and driver, and Alex is a great editor and poo demonstrator so they compliment each other, not too complicated lol
Hi, I've only recently discovered your channel and am slowly working my way through your vids. You two kids are a breath of fresh air, your laughter, love for life and freedom of the open road is uplifting for my spirits as is your sense of adventure. Your love for one another is a joy to behold and I wish you both a long and happy life together with many adventures to come!.....All the best from Nottingham in the UK.
I built out a 2007 GMC Savana 3500 Extended (US). I learned, by building it out, that all vans are small vans. My wife and I don't live in the van full-time, but we are still crowded in it. I will be working on trying to gain more floor space in the coming months. I thought we had loads of space under the bed, but that quickly filled up with folding ebikes and water (we do not run out of water nearly as quickly as you do, so that's the good news). I will often step outside the van while she is dressing and vice versa. I would love to travel more with her, but I do feel I need to rescue some space.
To answer your question, at our later stage in retired life we could not live in a small van, the lavatorial facilities or lack of plus having to use public loos and showers would put us off! You are very brave being in a small space and having to maintain a close relationship and entertaining us at the same time. Thank and kind regards from a nearly sunny West Sussex by the sea Crawford
Yes we bought a small caravan (3,5m long x 1,8m wide, similar to what you have in your van as living space) and enjoy our live many weeks each year on various campsites in europe. A full van life with no homebase would probably not work out well. Not becase of the narrow space or something, but because of the job requirements.
As an answer to your question I would never ever think of living in a van let alone as a couple. Love watching your videos though. Makes my (Sun) day, each and everyone of them! 🥳👍🥰🥇
It's nice to see you Beans not shoveling snow in this video.. Hope you can find some down time to enjoy each other in the City of Budapest. Romantic and charming. Sending you Lots of love 💖💖 Jim and Harriet. Richmond, Va.
Hiiii! Love your videos! (And the couple from MO you’ve teamed up with!) About 15 years ago I trucked around in a GMC VAN, aka ‘Vannie White’ as my boys called her, after they had left home. I loved it! The van was stolen once I moved to Little Rock to work, broke my heart, and now that EVERYBODY is reminded me what I’m missing!!!! I’m Van shopping again! Window shopping for now! -/-side note, I loved all the features in Frank, the Ford, and HATED IT FOR YOU GUYS when he met his untimely death. (So happy yall were safe, and that it happened pre Noah.). Also should add that your hubby reminds me of one of my youngest friends he played ball with. Baseball team. His mom and dad were from England and Scotland. I loved the accent. I’m rambling. Thank you so much for all your videos. Enjoy this time with your babes! B Barham
Hello this is Mary Ann from South Jersey USA I just love the two of you you laugh you have a good time you just never seem to get on each other's nerves in a little confinement it's amazing I can't wait till you start your road trip in the United States there's lots to see have a great day and stay safe
I think you both do a wonderful job working together. Even though it’s not always fun to do the day-to-day stuff, it’s good to see how it works for you. My hubby and I are full time travelers, and neither of us have any desire to camp in any kind of RV. We don’t know if this might change down the road, but for now we enjoy hopping from country to country in an AirBnB for at least a month at a time. Cheers to you for doing what you do, and sharing it with all of us!
We're currently on the shop for a campervan, but no, not a small one. Pre back injury I totally would have, but I'm not confident my husband and I would survive together in such a small space. Kudos to you guys! 👏 I think perhaps one of the secrets to your success, both as a couple and as filmmakers, is that you you know and embrace each other's strengths. ❤
Cool video! Riding as a passenger is a responsible role too. You have to be the map reader, DJ and move branches off the road. Well done Alex! You’re so manly 😀 Good bird watching and editing work too
Me and my man have lived in a small space like that before we got our big dog . Now with two dogs two adults we got our 40 foot bus ... I miss small for parking and getting around but don't miss not having the space .. love my bedroom so much . So much
Well done Alex 😃👍 Yet another highly professional video you’ve produced 🎥 Yes, we love living and travelling in a van as not only a couple, but as a family with our 14 year old daughter and 10 year old son 😊🤗🚐🇪🇺🌍
As another woman who always drives, I get it. I probably have another reason…. I am critical of my husband’s late braking and too close following habits. I drive my car and am in charge. If we are in his truck (rarely) he’s in charge.😊. I loved this vlog and did answer some of my questions.❤
I can confirm, its a bird with a white tail 🤣.. Small vans are great for parking etc, but you do lose the separate toilet/shower.. not sure Id survive without my separate toilet/shower/bed/kitchen and office area.. In regards to Emma only driving.. i think its cause shes the better driver 😄
This is the very first video of yalls I had ever seen and I watched it just a couple of months ago. Thanks for sharing. I love to travel and I can do it every day on my lunch hour via UA-cam now.
So jealous you got a pileated woodpecker! We've been searching for almost a year!!!! We sorta caught one, but it wasn't clear on the video! We have a bucket toilet for camping that has a legit seat and we use the Ozark Trail waste bags that has a powder in it that turns everything to gel. Makes disposal easy and mess free! It's double bagged!
It never once crossed my mind even once why Emma does all the driving. Maybe because I do all the driving in my marriage too. We've been married almost 30 years and learned fairly early on in our marriage that I love driving way more than he does and he's way better at navigating than I am. Plus I am a horrible passenger and need to close my eyes in order to keep from pissing off whoever is driving with my anxiety-ridden "backseat driving" tips (it's hard to navigate and sight-see with closed eyes, LOL!).
I'm thinking of getting a campervan and so, yes, I'm interested in the practicalities of 'van life', and in this case, when the video editing is done, never mind all the basics like showering and pooing! I'd noticed that Emma was doing all the driving in the first couple of videos I was doing - I thought this was odd, as you might want to share it over long distances. I assumed Alex couldn't driver, then I saw the Portugal video, where he seemed to be driving the hire car. As to whether I could be in the same space as anyone else over long periods - well, I expect one of us would end up at the bottom of the Danube!
Hey guys I can tell van life is taking its toll on you guys, winter sux in a van believe you me, much more enjoyable in the summer, take it easy guys much love from new zealand🥰
We are two adults and two dogs in a VW California, so we know what you are thinking, when you say living in a tiny van. We actually don't live in our van, but we use it on trips.
Alex, you are a wonderful editor. I appreciate the videos that you and the driver Emma produce. You take me to so many magical places, even those with or without magical sunsets.
We have van lifed together in a small van on a semi regular basis for weeks and occasionally months, since 1973. You just need to learn the dance of vanlife, who sits or stands, who goes outside, who stays in. All part of the fun. We have watched other van life couples and I have wondered why you rarely see the women driving , as I like todrive half the time. So good on you for doing what suits you two. Love your British sense of humour and watching you drive around in your Baked Bean coloured van!
Your in Hungary!!!!! Amazing I will watch every episode in amazement. I was born in Szombathely. And have not been there since we left to come to Canada. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Quick food tip for van life, grab yourself a air fryer. You can run them off a jackery (check the specs) and roast veg and a quick chicken breast is a 25 minute meal for 2 ;)
Always a treat when you post a new video! Too bad you left Austria though; my chances of accidentally meeting the tipsy beans in a pub are now close to zero 😅 Enjoy Hungary, guys!
To answer your questions at the end- yes and no! I'm in the US and I recently bought a 2002 Mazda MPV LX and I plan to do a relatively no- build build. I wanna be the VanLife OG. That stands for Old Grandma. I love your videos, the pair of you are quite charming. New subbie!
Love your videos and no, I couldn’t live in a van of any size, but I love it that you guys do it. I can enjoy the experience vicariously without any of the discomfort 😂.
I love my husband but. 24/7 in close proximity er naa! Drive me crazy. But I’m 62 see how you guys feel in a ‘few’ years?!! 😅 Well done Al your editing is actually really great!!! You two as a couple do a super job and I’m so glad I found you!! I enjoy your vlogs sooooooo much. I’m disabled and stuck in bed/house 90% of the time and watching content on UA-cam like yours is my thing! Thanks guys! Coming back to the question of would you do it, I think if I’d met my husband 40 years ago then I would have loved to travel in a van (with shower and proper loo!) He did it before we met and his Land Rover he did up, had shipped to South Africa blew up like your van did. He lost all his documents, cash the lot! But also travelled all over the world before settling down. Good to do when you’re younger. 🍦🍦🥰🙅♀️🙅♀️
Enjoy watching. I could probably do a custard size bus, maybe a sprinter van, but this is just too small for me. I think so would at least need a composting toilet. 😂
We do all our travelling in a 11 year old T 5. In 3 years when I retire, we'll be off! Firstly to France then Spain then Italy to visit friends and turns to knows? In our T 5. Good on you all for addressing the driving. Mark does the motorways, autoroutes etc., and I do the bendy stuff cos we're both allergic to my motion sickness!!!
The fact Emma drives all of the time completely escaped me. I never gave it a second thought, but I love how you addressed it for those who did seem to care. My wife and I have done a a little bit of camper living (slightly larger than your van) but I'm not sure we could downsize to a van since we have a dog. I think that would be a little too much for us. Love your videos!
Hi Alex and Emma, nice to see you in Hungary,if you are passing Törökszentmiklós you are welcome to call into our home for a brew and park up if you like. Happy travels, John and Diana
I think before they ask why you do all the driving, they should be wondering how bad Alex’s driving is that you don’t want to share! 😝 I don’t let my hubby drive my camper because he seems to think parking sensors lie and should be ignored, alloys are there for kerbing and gears are made for grinding 🙈😱🤯😝😅 In all seriousness… until you mentioned it, it’s never occurred to me. Travel sickness is absolutely the most valid reason though ♥️
Welle hello, beeing following you for a few months now ! I would really want to thank you about the positivity and energie that you put in the videos! beeing van lifer for part time parasailing and holidays, for like a month or so.... I take all the information that I can get to be more efficient and thanks to you some nice idees for the next trips are getting there thumbs up! thank from France
You guys are fantastic .such a nice couple.you can really see how much you love each other company..so important!! Keep those videos coming Alex . They make us all so jealous. Joe 🇬🇧
Yes Emma it is a bit sexist. Maryanne from Tread the Globe channel does most of the driving and she gets the same questions. Really good informative vid guys. Really nice to show the practicalities of living in a small van, toileting and all. While great locations and beautiful scenic drone shots make for great content, there is real life occurring, washing up in the freezing cold, constantly shopping, laundry etc etc. Nice reality check. Good stuff.
Super video once again 🙂 I didn't even wonder why Emma did the driving. I gather (from previous videos) that Emma did nearly all of the van build and is now thoroughly enjoying the fruits of her labours 👍
I travel all over Scotland in a van for work every week about 60/70k MLS a yr and cant tell you how often I wish it was a camper so I could just stop an look at the sights for more than a min
Brilliant vlog. You've become tremendous film-makers. Much as I'm an admirer of the v-dub for its compactness and the shrewdness of your conversion (Emma!), I've realised that it would be too small for me to live in for an extended trip. Respect to you both for managing it (being young helps, I think!). I tow a large pop-up camper for holidays but if I was to turn to vanlife I think I would have to bite the bullet and go for a MWB / LWB Boxer or Sprinter and accept that parking & access may be compromised. Great sandwiches Alex, you da man!
I would love to do van life. Once my children have left home I love the idea of me, my dogs and a campervan. But until then I am enjoying watching your travel adventures. Thank you for sharing your journey with us 🙂
I'm so glad that you clarified that a bag goes in the 'toilet"because as you explained I just kept thinking, "oh that must be a mess to clean and disgusting!' LOL!!! As you can tell I've never lived the vanlife, however I would give it a try if the opportunity came up. My husband and I like each other so I don't think we would kill one another... I can't believe that people care that much to ask you everyday why you, Emma do all the driving???? Who cares? Great video and stay safe.
I'd concur that's a white tailed eagle ... wings like barn doors. And a video from Hungary with no Hungarian spicy sausage?! I'm shocked, stunned and amazed 😁
Ooh, Beans, this vlog was so cozy and personal. Thank you for creating this. I have been soaking up so many van life videos to where my mindset is currently: YES I'd like to live in a van! I even convinced my boyfriend, and we're saving up for the van and build itself. I am so excited. I like what you mentioned about having your own tasks as a couple living in a small space. The apartment we live in right now isn't that big with one separate bedroom, but it would be a huge difference to live in a van. As of right now, I'd like to purchase a van in which I can stand up without having to extend the roof ceiling. I also would think to invest in a shower inside the van. Only the future will know what we got in store. Lovely video! I wish you both a great day. PS. I can imagine you get the question about the driver often. It is quite crazy that people tend to think of a male when they're thinking about who's driving. I too wonder why such an image exists in people's minds; however, I too sometimes notice myself thinking to myself "please don't be a woman" when someone's driving poorly. I have yet to adjust my own thinking even though I consider myself a feminist. I also remember thinking last summer, as I sat in the park looking at many boats float by, why the majority of people were men who were in control of the stirring of the boat. Thank you for mentioning this in your video!
Gosh you guys are to funny, love the back and fourth that you have going. Also Alex I have never seen such an elaborate explanation of how to 💩 on the run. By the by Emma I love to drive also.😊😊😊👍👍👍
As a 68yr old I wouldn’t like to live in a van on my own or with my husband, I like my creature comfort’s to much. But you two obviously like it a lot. Take care
Been watching you two from the start, living my dream!!, I am in my late seventies and have been trying to convince my wife we should buy a small camper van and take off when ever where ever, but could never convince her, then along came your video of living as a couple, thought this would convince her (should have looked all of the video first)seeing you sitting on the loo in idyllic surroundings was great for me but for my wife it was no no no forget it. So I implore you to keep making videos so I can live my dream with you......
I love watching your videos. You guys are so down to earth. You guys are my favorite to watch. My wife and I went motorcycle riding through North Vietnam. She drove the motorcycle and I rode behind. Everyone stop us and ask us why she was driving. In Asia the man are supposed drive and women riding. My wife grow up riding motorcycle and I didn't. That's why she drove.
My friend can only drive, she gets sick as a passenger. But has no problems at all driving anywhere so on girls trips she drives all our cars :) . Put her in an elevator on the 70th floor and she is against the wall asking to get off. But strangely enough I hadnt noticed only Emma driving. You guys have great content and love it all!
My wife and I are both 50 + and are considering van life as an option in the future. I don’t think we could cope in such a small van but a larger motorhome is appealing. We have been renting for over 10 years and want a place we can call our own. We have a large (ish) inheritance coming our way so hopefully should be able to afford something nice! We both want to travel and see some new exciting places, in the UK and Europe hopefully. We understand that it’s not that easy but we want to give it a go before we get too old. Loving the videos guys, until the next one, stay safe! x

We bought a pop up bird hide for using the loo outdoors. Folds down to virtually nothing and pops up to a comfortable size for sitting on the loo!!
You are really amazing.
What a stunning view !!! Beauty at its best ...
Excellent drama of colors !!!

Haha isn't that nuts?! The fish is MASSIVE! 😂
@@TravelBeans I couldn't believe it wolfed it down in one go greedy thing lol
My wife of 29 yrs ALWAYS drives. It is due to her being so critical of my driving, I gave up. Happy wife, happy life. Cheers.
Yep, White-tailed Eagle, and Great Spotted Woodpecker and Great Cormorants.
Amazing, Superb, Brilliant, and of course supercalifragilisticexpialidocious video editing Alex

I love seeing you camping 🏕️ near Budapest. I lived in Budapest for three years. It’s fantastic!
Your in Hungary!!!!! Amazing I will watch every episode in amazement. I was born in Szombathely. And have not been there since we left to come to Canada. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Al is the best.... but then so is Emma. You both are such inspiring and humble people. Keep up the great work as always.
Quick food tip for van life, grab yourself a air fryer. You can run them off a jackery (check the specs) and roast veg and a quick chicken breast is a 25 minute meal for 2 ;)
Love everything about your videos including Emma's amazing driving and cooking and Alex's editing. Your videos are very entertaining!
Living in a 22' Airstream (6.07 meters) we can certainly appreciate the tiny space. Our big plus is that we have our own shower...
Well done Al your editing is actually really great!!!
Welcome to Hungary! ~ Üdvözöllek titeket Magyaroszágon! 🇭🇺❤️🤗
I just love your Vanlife videos!! Thank you 🙏
Lovely video, thank you. Yes, great editing. Can't wait to see more of Hungary.
I looooooooove that you called out the STUPID driving question. Nicely done!
Never once thought about emma driving, Often thought how she keeps her hair looking so fab 🤔
You don’t have to justify, just do what works best for you guys.
I wish I knew what some of their best dinners are to make in the van. This one looked perfect for cold weather!
Hi guys, another tip for grabbing a shower is using a swimming pool normally cheap, and you get to have a swim 🏊♀️ 😀 x
I think before they ask why you do all the driving, they should be wondering how bad Alex’s driving is that you don’t want to share! 😝
I don’t let my hubby drive my camper because he seems to think parking sensors lie and should be ignored, alloys are there for kerbing and gears are made for grinding 🙈😱🤯😝😅
In all seriousness… until you mentioned it, it’s never occurred to me. Travel sickness is absolutely the most valid reason though ♥️
Lovely video showing what it’s like. You folks are awesome, well done on a great channel
Brill ,entertaining ,enjoyable, fun, witty video yet again..
Joe 🇬🇧
"my fragile manlihood ..." done it. Good chuckle! Subscribed.
Good stuff.
Super video once again 🙂
I didn't even wonder why Emma did the driving. I gather (from previous videos) that Emma did nearly all of the van build and is now thoroughly enjoying the fruits of her labours 👍
Hello " Gabby and Brian "
Van Life is Difficulty challenge for you body and brains , stay safe and make more Love and Yoga 😘🥳
Thank you for sharing your journey with us 🙂
Excellent Edits Alex and Emma fantastic driving skills!
My wife and I did 12 months (of western Europe) our honeymoon.. it was unheard of for that length of time .1975/76 .
Everything looks fun till potty time . You too are so funny together. Very cute couple. I wish you all the best. I love your channel.
Love y'all "Why do you care, why does it matter?".. 2 questions people should ask themselves MoRe!!..
You do the things you love , complementary beans 💕
By the by Emma I love to drive also.😊😊😊👍👍👍
Emma - given the shower situation you do well to look after and manage long hair!
I'm sorry to say I did comment to my other half, early on, that it was great to see a female doing a lot of the driving.
Have you petitioned for a bigger van? Fixed toilet&shower may work wonders in convincing!
Aww Alex what a lovely job you do, making fabulous videos and showing us how to poo in a bin 🤣
Loving the videos guys, until the next one, stay safe! x
Came here from Jits into the sunset - you two seem super sweet and I love the simple van set up! 😊
