I was a mainly vegan vegetarian for 22 years. Big Fat Surprise blew my mind, brilliant book. I was also listening to a lot of Joe Rogan as he had on a bunch of doctors and scientists who were dismantling the official "nutritional guidelines" dogma. I felt MUCH better when I started eating meat again. No major health issues but mentally & physically I feel 1000% better. Now ~5 years into mainly keto/paleo, I fast 16 hours a day and eat during an 8-hour window. Pretty sure I will NEVER go back to previous eating patterns. Of course, I am just one data point...
I'm another data point. Type 2 Diabetic, high blood pressure controlled by drugs, high triglycerides, obese, bad cholesterol high, terrible joint pain, living on mostly processed foods, which is predominately Vegetarian diet, with some meat, but mostly the other. Fast forward 4 weeks into low carb/keto protein focused diet, and off all drugs, 20 lbs lost. Now 4 years later, have been normal weight 3 1/2 years. Health markers all great. Pretty much shifted to carnivore on most days a year ago. Eat zero processed foods, grains, seed oils, and sugars.
@@russellbrooks23able So you lost weight and have your symptoms improve and you think it has something to do with the keto, and not the weight loss? Are all you people walking brain donors? Shawn Baker got diabetes on his extreme keto (carnivore) and Paul Saladino had to quit it because his testosterone and thyroid levels tanked. And what is your LDL?
It goes the other way for me, before i eat meat, I feel weak and tired, and then, WHILE and after I eat, i suddenly feel very good. Could be because I only eat in the morning. (I do daily fast)
I had about half a pound of filet tips last night with garlic butter, sliced avocado, and roasted corn (sue me, I'm not keto). That was some good sleep 😴
here's an interesting fact... I was diagnosed a t2d about 10 years ago and went vegetarian after doing a large amt of research into means of dietary control... (Dr. Barnard, Dean Ornish etc.) most of whom proponed a low to no fat, diet... in other words lots of beans, rice and vinegar covered bitter greens... I couldn't give up my cheese and vegetarian spreads.. also lots of grains and breads!... I was ALWAYS hungry, and my fbs kept going up. 3 yrs later I went vegan after doing still more research... and my fbs continued to climb while I consoled myself with eating things that were vegan, oreos, fritos, corn chips, etc... this continued for another 3 years until I barely had energy to get out of bed in the morning. napping was a NECESSITY, not an option, my focus was shot, my mental acuity down the drain... (which for someone who works in radiation is NOT a good thing)... Finally I came across a keto proponent, well SEVERAL keto proponents... then LCHF proponents, then carnivore proponents... and guess what? 3 years after trying to shake off the misinformations of vegetarian and veganism, I'm finally back on the road to health, neuropathy getting better little by little... fbs going down (though its stubborn), energy going up, mental acuity returning, and naps are once again becoming a CHOICE instead of a compulsion. The closer I get to carnivore... the better I feel, but the old habits and ingrained lies are so hard to get over... it's worth trying! Life is something to be enjoyed, not slogged through like the Swamp of Sadness.
I was vegetarian for many years and suffered greatly!! I’m mostly carnivore. I add a little cabbage or zucchini every couple of months yet I function well on grass fed beef liver and grass fed beef, eggs, cheese, pastured bacon, and jalapeños bc they’re just so tasty!! Glad you found the way! Check out Root Cause Protocol. I discovered it recently and it makes sense. I haven’t been following it long enough to say yay or nay but I’m hopeful. Notice the guy calling her an animal is phonetically surnamed Cats? A vegan cat is a dead cat, as cats are the ultimate carnivore. We are living in the Upside Down.
Thank you Nina for all your wonderful work. Love from a 53 year old woman whom now has her health back as a Red Meat eating Carnivore and loving it. I am constantly on facebook trying to mention how my life has changed once I learnt about carbs, insulin resistance, animal fats and how nutritious meat is for healing - hopefully I will help others realise that they have been LIED TO.
So do I. My Mom was one of the countless victims of the food industry, that has been promoting synthetic food (like margarine, vegetable oils) for decades. She was afraid of meat and she was scared of the cholesterol devil. She died of a heart attack, though she was not overweight. I miss her more than I can say.
@@1959Berre Mine didn’t stay away from meat (and also not overweight) but ONLY used margarine and vegetable oil. She also passed from heart attack (early 60’s). On the other hand, my grandmother used lard and butter, although some margarine later, and lived to a good old age (late 80’s-although I wish older).
I am sorry to hear about your mum’s passing. We are kindred spirits. My mother died a slow and lingering death by “five to six small meals per day, which have to include low fat dairy and lots of grains, beans and legumes”. Avoid meat! is what she was told constantly by doctors. Every day, I wish I knew then what I know now. I’m also certain that my mother would still be alive.
While I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying, I wanted to mention that what the dietary health professionals actually did NOT say was, “we were wrong on this“. They did change their minds but without comment to how they had believed previously.
@@OdysseusMDA There are liability issues. If the dietary health professionals ever admit they were 100% wrong, they open the whole industry up to getting sued to oblivion for killing millions of people.
Nina, love your work, your professionalism, and your laugh! You're a lovely, whip smart person who always takes the high road and presents with neutrality, integrity, and far more charity towards some very immature people than you need to. Thank you.
the effect red meat/saturated fat has on LDL cholestrol sure is scientifically backed... judging by those poor eskimos which ALL exhibit decreased lifespan and arterial sclerosis fron their pure-meat diets.🤣
@@DanteLikesRock all of their meat comes from wild animals, that's the key difference. That's why wild salmon and farmed salmon are essentially two different animals (unless extreme care is taken on the farms, which is expensive, so you can see how common that practice is). Same with beef raised on corn vs on pasture, the meat has extremely different properties - and the science against red meat was done on the corn-raised one, not the natural product, so the whole thing is more twisted that you think!
Thank you Nina for this overview and for raising our awareness of bias. On the whole, I believe that this topic really highlights the elephant in the room, that WE ARE ASKING THE WRONG QUESTIONS. The research should be focussed on the degree of INFLAMMATION that our food and environment challenge our state of health.
On point! Most of what's in our stores arent even food! We are at a state of human's not being able to reproduce or he healthy to sustain a species..it's pretty crazy to think about!!
Child development is my bias. Why does the US have such high C-Sec, pre-term births, infant mortality rates. So many infants fed formula, commercial baby food and school breakfast and lunch.
Fascinating history of the demonisation of red meat Nina and such an important discussion around the Vested Interests and Religious Ideology shaping our 'plant-biased' dietary and health guidelines 🙏
Except their so-called religious ideology is not Christian, it is more akin to Hinduism and other anti-Christ idolatries. 7th day Adventists, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, all have corrupted the word of God to fit their dogmas born of human philosophies and one man's discontent with biblical truth. Be it Ellen White, Joseph Smith, or Charles Taze Russel - of whom would go to any lengths to keep their flock just as these so-called scientists are willing to do to promote their lies! The Truth that saves and gives life everlasting enters thru the heart not the belly. You can die as "healthy as a horse" but you will still DIE...OR could it be there is more to know?
Excellent video! We are both in our 80's and feel better than ever! We are all about healthy aging to prevent and reverse disease, which we both did! The key is to retain a strong body, a calm mind, and a positive outlook. Getting older at any age does not have to mean getting sicker. We're doing research on sites like this to make our new Health-Aging Advice channel a success. We hope to inspire others and share a bit of wisdom. Learned a lot here. Thank you.
Really appreciated this presentation. It is well documented. Arguments are strong. It’s helping me a lot in my decision-making process with regards to the diet that I should adopt in the future. I’m Canadian (French part), and like many fellow citizens In Canada, I was very surprised by the influence of food corporations in the making of the food guidelines in Canada (almost the same as in the USA). For example, a glass of orange juice was recommended as part of breakfast (which I did for so many years). The diet (and mine) was very rich in carbohydrates too. I was forced to reconsider my food intake due to a medical situation that my past food habit is certainly a cause of. Thank you for all the work you do and the energy you devote to the cause of nutrition.
It scares me so much! I just hope that we are able to make a difference with our “grassroots” movement, although we are much less powerful and have no corporation money behind our efforts. Carnivore for a year, now a bit mixed, but extremely successful. Thank you Nina, keep up the good fight!
it's much easier to get a job working remotely. Get one of those and move to the country like many others are doing. Start a garden and raise some chickens and/or ducks. From there you can try pigs, sheep, or goats. Or you can go for rabbits. Smaller animals tend to be easier to raise. Also, you can help local small farmers by buying meat from their animals.
I gained all of my autoimmune disorders when I was vegan. I sustained it for 3 years. Ended up with IBS, leaky gut, acid reflux. Bloated, painful to eat, sick all the time, tired. Felt too full or never felt full enough, always hungry after a couple hours.. Gained 60 lbs. Not good. I'm 3.5 months into my zero carb Carnivore lifestyle. (I refuse to see this as a diet.) I only eat meat, and cheese. Very sustainable so far. Easy prep, easy cooking. As for my health, all of my symptoms from IBS are gone. My acid reflux is gone. My bloated, and pain is gone. I'm getting up normally in the morning. So my circadian rhythm fixed itself on its own which is surprising to me. I've suffered from narcolepsy since I was a teen..
This was fascinating. Thank you Nina for doing the legwork and digging this up and presenting it to us. Terrible times. You can't trust the advice by 'Professionals' on what food you should be eating.
Unlikely. Most people don't stay vegan for long. It's just a fad, but then so is the carnivore diet. Humans are omnivores. We eat meat, plants, and cooked food. Sorry. More likely you feel better because you cut out sugar & processed food. Or maybe you have a gluten sensitivity. Sooner or later the deficiencies of your new extreme diet will cause new problems. Not even Eskimos live in ketosis on their indigenous diet. They have evolved not to, because it endangers pregnant women. They eat plants like berries & seaweed, and NOT all animals products.
@@robinlillian9471 Most people followed the principles of the food pyramid. A dietitian worked for months researching and putting it together. Then the senator in charge let his grain growing and vegan buddies change it to the disaster that came out. They wanted her name on the final product and she refused. She warned them if they put it out and people followed it there would be a dramatic increase in obesity, diabetics, heart attacks, strokes, depression, dementia, autoimmune, etc. People have followed the advice and she was right.
Actually, young people will survive long-enough to reproduce. And they'll live long-enough to be optimal consumers, and good-enough workers. Then, they'll die long, EXPENSIVE DEATHS. Each of those aspects of their lives, is something from which the tiny gang at the top, will derive profit. Those elite gangsters, will continue to consume Beluga, raw oysters, mountains of shrimp, salmon, and Wagyu Beef - all drenched in real butter. They'll age well, and their children will develop superior attributes. Meanwhile, the SLAVE FOOD "Recommended by Health Authorities!", will essentially disable those who're not members of the Gangster Class. Those consuming the Slave Food, will be dumpy, ugly, dysfunctional, and stupid - completely incapable of rebellion or Upward Mobility. Their offspring will be inferior, from birth. In the minds of the gang of psychopaths running today's world, this will be IDEAL: The Best of All Possible Worlds.
That's the plan. A long drawn out expensive, excruciating death. Thanks to willful ignorance and blind acceptance of the MSM message. My father in law has been squandering his kids inheritance the last 10 years in a torture chamber called an assisted care facility.
Metabolic flexibility is the ability to easily convert to fat-burning when glycogen stores are low. The body always burns glucose, even without consuming any.
excellently presented!!! it's so disheartening that meat is even considered "offensive" to be depicted in art. When was the last time you saw someone having meat in a movie, that wasn't pictured as a brute, or old fashioned manly? I'm appalled at the amount of trash food, or carb products that are pictured in movies as food.
I have done EMPIRICAL research and this type of lit searches & reviews and you are a rock star. Meticulous work. Thank goodness for your voice. I am now a voice as well. The denial of this science is comparable to insisting the world is flat!
My Dad ran a remote cattle station in The Northern Territory, Australia, when I was growing up. We lived on freshly killed cattle, including brains, liver etc, home made bread, and canned fruit and vegetables (the pests ate everything fresh). Dad retired when I was 16 and we left the property to go to city life. I wouldn't say that I was incredibly healthy as we did live on canned, sugared fruit etc while I was growing but I wasn't sick. In the late 80's studying nutrition I followed vegetarian/veganism as it was the "healthy" thing to do. Fast forward 2 years and I was in hospital, couldn't keep food down and had Fibromyalgia. A "healthy" diet made me sick for 30+years. Now I eat grass fed meat and mainly greens and I'm starting to feel well again. I don't listen to my doctor anymore.
I grew up on a cattle ranch too (in the U.S.) and we also ate all parts of the cattle - brains, liver, and couple unmentionables. I think it's interesting that, historically, people commonly ate every part of the animal and, also, a much wider variety of animals than we do today.
I like to ask this question: When you look at cave paintings of prehistoric humans, what do they show? Animals, weapons, hunting, feasts. I've yet to see a cave painting of broccoli.
Broccoli hadn't been invented yet. Seriously. The whole cruciferous veg section of the produce aisle was created by recent humans from one wild mustard plant. Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts etc.
Thank you! Fight on !! So much excellent information is on UA-cam now. It is perhaps falsely encouraging. The opposition is wealthy and vicious and is just stepping up their game.
Alas we are no longer listening to diets that are going to make medicine (in the US at least) richer by shortening people's lives and making them sicker and fatter. Once you do low carb or keto or carnivore you can see for yourself how we've been lied to because we get better. Edit: was replying to another comment which weirdly disappeared as I was typing it - the original comment said something like 'big company forces are trying to silence this info by spending millions'
The dietary guidelines are a joke. Eating for optimal human health is as simple as the following 2 steps: avoid carbs and seed oils like the plague; eat plenty of fat and cholesterol. Oh and also fast for 16-20 hours every day
It would be more accurate to say avoid fructose & seed oils & eat organic veg and pastured animal products.. Not everyone can tolerate keto. Starvation, and/or fasting, causes eating disorders, including both anorexia and bingeing. You don't have to go to extremes to be healthy. Just the opposite. It eventually makes you sick. Both veganism and keto are bad news in the long term.
I was Vegan for many years in fact 8 years. It's the worst diet on this plant. I gained 20kg on weight and all the markers of horrible health. Reverted to total meat diet and practice IF. back to 72kg now and cleared of all medical conditions. Doctors did not help me but prescribed only pills to manage my health
Amazing and wonderful this chat, In every age of the world humanity has never been so sick and without physical and mental energy. Some people think they are healthy by the simple fact of getting up and going out to work, today I begin to understand what physical health and mental health really are. ...40 years without knowing what health was, Gratitude Nina and Low Carb
Thankyou for this. The timing was interesting as I saw articles come out about Biden talking about cutting 90% of peoples meat intake. It didn't sound like something he'd come up with for himself so I dove into a search to see who was pulling the strings. Ended up falling down a rabbit hole and found all the links you brought up in this video. Then I turned on this video to see what you were going to talk about, and it was the same topic! You also added more connections I hadn't reached yet. I should have known this would link back to the WEF
If consumers would commit to eating only non factor farmed meat there would be no problem, the Republican Party and conservatives are big supporters of huge corporate factory torture farms.
Nina thank you so much and everyone involved in promoting LCHF with substantial research behind to support. I have been on LCHF and do internittent fasting, i feel so good and healthy.
Finally, someone willing to address this very pressing issue. In the past year or so I have come to realize just how skeptical we should be of the MSM. Lies, skewed facts and slanted data given with no context, and without any regard whatsoever for cogent discussion and consideration of actual facts. Very alarming. Thank you for the very important work you are doing.
Outstanding presentation and thank you for citing your sources. Everyone needs to do their research and formulate their own opinion. My opinion is that I did low-fat diet foods and insane workouts for years and I never achieved optimal health. I got some relief from keto but I was not doing it clean enough and now I'm on carnivore and I'm amazed at the transformation in my skin and hair and belly fat. It's not meant to be an overnight thing but I'm not going back.
Same - I agree completely. My high blood pressure is GONE, My overweight body is GONE, my HbA1c is well within Normal numbers (5.4) My skin is soft and not dry anymore, my psoriasis is GONE, the fungus in my big toe nail is GONE - These changes occured in the last 7 months. For the first three months, I followed a strict, clean Keto diet under 20 grams of carbs per day, then I transitioned to Carnivore (0 Carbs) just to try it and see how it would affect my T2 Diabetes, and other health conditions. I liked Carnivore so well and saw a huge improvement in so many things - I am staying Carnivore. My T2 Diabetes GONE. Why would I ever want to go back to a poisonous, toxic, way of eating? Why would anyone?
Excellent talk, Nina, thank you. As someone with >40+ years in medicine, the importance of diet didn't occur to me until the recent decade or so. Many of my patients have their health improved and diseases reversed including CAD, T2DM, osteoporosis, autoimmune diseases and even cancer,. These diseases are considered as insurable by "conventional medicine". It's unbelievable that "they" want to control everything, not just our 1st amendment right but also our diet now.
Thank you for this. As a largely vegetarian, you and Low Carb down under and Dr Berg, Dr Fung, Dr Eckberg, Dr Mason, Dr Berry have all taught me a lot and am ok with being wrong. When we know better, we ahould do better.

I was always a consistent runner among other things, but high carb listening to the medical community. I stopped the atherosclerosis & actually my cac score dropped 95 pts.within 6mos. on the keto lifestyle. Fortunately I have not had to slow down my workouts due to an event. I am now 72 & still feel I can do anything I ever did, but run due to a meniscus bone on bone. I walk 23 flights of stairs (so I don’t have to wear the idiot masks) but go at it on the rowing machine before the mask requirement. I am still very angry at my cardiologist considering warning signs I had in 2010, with him in awe of my condition. I had my 80% corodit blockage taken care of in 2014
Thank you for your comment! I too had a calcium score even a bit higher than yours. I have familial hyperchosterolemia. I have always had sky high cholesterol no matter what and the doctors are always pushing for more drugs. I lost my grandmother to dementia, she is who I inherited the gene from. My whole life I’ve been scared to eat fat and I’ve lived mostly on carbs and low fat foods. After seeing this and other talks similar to it I have changed my diet and I feel great. I love hearing that you had your calcium score redone and it was so low. I’m looking forward to doing the same. Thanks so much for sharing your story

Thank you Nina for you dedication to the truth! I for one will never be eating a plant based diet. My diet consists of mainly meat with occasional vegetables. Sorry for your mom's passing. I lost my mom last week from Alzheimer's. I too wish we had this knowledge decades ago.
Mine too. Exactly the same. ☹️
Another outstanding presentation by Nina Teicholz, Thank you for your contribution to mankind. 👏👏👏
“ I welcome any kind of discussion or dissent…“ when’s the last time you heard that!? Thank you Nina for another great talk.
True!
While I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying, I wanted to mention that what the dietary health professionals actually did NOT say was, “we were wrong on this“. They did change their minds but without comment to how they had believed previously.
Would the establishment in anything actually admit they were wrong? Never happened
@@OdysseusMDA There are liability issues. If the dietary health professionals ever admit they were 100% wrong, they open the whole industry up to getting sued to oblivion for killing millions of people.
We love you Nina. You have many fans in every corner of this strange world. Keep on going!
"The Big Fat Surprise" is an excellent book. Since it is now about seven years old, however, I appreciated this video updating the science.
One of the very best researchers in this area. Thank you Nina.
Nina, love your work, your professionalism, and your laugh! You're a lovely, whip smart person who always takes the high road and presents with neutrality, integrity, and far more charity towards some very immature people than you need to. Thank you.
This is amazing info... Hard to believe almost everything we are taught about nutrition is not backed by science.
the effect red meat/saturated fat has on LDL cholestrol sure is scientifically backed... judging by those poor eskimos which ALL exhibit decreased lifespan and arterial sclerosis fron their pure-meat diets.🤣
Such a brilliant woman. Still able to think for herself and help others to understand the politics of food. Much approval and respect.
It is so essential to human health that establishment forces are determined to make it illegal or ridiculously expensive.
You sound like a conspiracy theory kook
I had to read your comment 5 times before I understood (or believe I did) what you meant. You meant that is is detrimental that they are do that, yes?
it's much easier to get a job working remotely.
I prefer to think of it as an unhappy coincidence.

(I refuse to see this as a diet.)
I only eat meat, and cheese.
How do we stop this? It scares the hell out of me. Switching to a carnivore diet saved my life. This will kill humanity.

Meanwhile, the SLAVE FOOD "Recommended by Health Authorities!", will essentially disable those who're not members of the Gangster Class. excellently presented!!! it's so disheartening that meat is even considered "offensive" to be depicted in art.
Shocked by this stream of highly articulate, rational, evidenced, insights.
Oh this is genius! Haha! The truth.

Oh and also fast for 16-20 hours every day
Yes, my eating window is around 11 am to 3 pm. Although I mix it up at times.
I fast almost all day too, time just passes by so quick and I can get more done. I don't need to think about food every 2 hours because of CARBS!!!
LCHF has worked for me for just about 2 years. Smh..they give food guidelines and then take it back. Incredible!
Eat like a lion.
