Always liked this and the 55 ford that Axial did. Never really had issues with Axial electronics little issues whe. They get wet. Really like what you did with this bronco. Great video

Watching this in December 2023 with interest as the scx iii chassis is still being used in the latest CJ7 . Strangely many of the issues still ring true today.

Yep, my Axial Wraith had issues. 3 times it released the magic smoke. First 2 times, plugged it in and poof. 3rd time it went 3 feet and poof. Only good think my local hobby store was having a sale on Castle motors and esc's. Purchased a new system and now I still have fun with it. But after the first week I was ready to throw it away, at least I had bought it on sale too.

It's a Capra thing, both of mine the dig servo were broken before they came out of the box. I'm still a fan of axial product's. But in the last few years watching your videos that I find it better to just build my own. Keep up the awesome videos. Badass shop truck you built.

The only big issue I had was the 3 piece drive shafts falling apart on my first comp...wanted to see how it ran stock...since then I've changed the body to Axial XJ...now to find an interior... I like lowering it...I'll have to try that....

Mine is on the way took advantage of the latest sale I have Treal metal beadlocks Proline tires 90 mm shocks & Treal shock mounts. My plan is to make its stance a bit wider to make it more stable & lower it with the 90mm shocks. Not sure how or if the Treal shock mounts will work but hopefully they fit & it will allow more shock positions. The combination of great looks & performance make it a great RTR & there’s plenty of upgrades available.

The seats that came in it are the proper seats, and the hack move with the zipties hurts my soul... lol My daughter has a Dingo, I gave it to her long after the kit was worth big money. lol Fire, fire!!!!

I bought one of these and actually like it, and I'm not a Ford guy either but I do like older stuff, I dropped mine down with a set of Traxxas TRX4 90 mm shocks and put a set of RC4wd black deep dish wagon wheels, looks perfect and the drop in height makes a world of difference.

This is my favorite Bronco vintage. I have always thought Ford used a 60's Falcon as a starting point to design the Bronco.
SCX 10 III seemed like it didn't have as favorable a rep as the 10 II.
The zip tie trick is cool. And yes Stick Shift.
The crawler chassis I have I built up from sources like CC Hand etc. They are still "in work" , hmmm I seem to remember buying those chassis for an attempt at building a gasser style Rat Rod. Some You Tuber got me all riled up about building Rat Rods....

Cool video, Seat are a great improvement. I wish the truck wasn't so big as I like the older style trucks. I burned up my dig servo, then you go online into your transmitter and tells you how to do the end points.

You can get straight axles for the scx10s with portals

I've never had an axial product so can't comment on their quality. But if I'd had any with all those issues I would have to get rid of them. Or change out the parts that were the problem. Either way I always look forward to seeing what you come up with to fix issues on your builds.
For the seat mounts one thing I have used to fill voids is "FlashFix" maybe drill holes similar to what you've done to provide something for bite. Once cured it can be sanded or taped. It won't take a lot of torque but should work here.
I ran into a similar problem with my TRX-4 & Defender body. I couldn't find a driver that looked right. I ended up with the head, arms & partial torso from one figure mated to another partial torso. People have said it looks good but I look at it and shudder. It's a Frankenstein for sure

Looks good! Did the same thing with mine although I painted the teal part under the seat just inside the door. Painted it black and feel it looks more realistic than the huge teal panel you can see through the door frame. I also took off the front window and the dash was the perfect shelf/platform for a scale CB radio to sit and hung the mic from the top roll bar.

Been running my 10.3 bronco for a year, aggressively. Stock dig servo still working great, I set my endpoints immediately and knock on wood it’s still working just fine, but the transmission is a bit sloppy compared to the 3 gear trans. Like you, I had a gladiator for a while but I dislike portals and sold it off, but I didn’t have any issues with that either. I internally limited my shocks to lower it and printed some stuff to delete the spare tire. I have a bikini top I made from some vinyl I bought at walmart, brass on the corners, baja pro-x’s on the stock wheels, and a diamond select Jay & Silent Bob driver figure fits perfectly. I have 14 or so other crawlers and the bronco works just fine for what it is, it’s been a good performing, 100% reliable trail truck. Your results may vary.

Understand your disappointment with a lackluster product. Takes time for the 'sting' to go away. Had a similar experience with a Grief servo, hard to get past a less than average product and the headache associated with it .

Great video and nice set of enhancements! I noticed a number of similar fit and finish issues with my EFB as well. My grille is warped as well and I’m going to try bending it to straighten it out a bit.

I've been using 1/12 wrestling figures in my trailfinders, they're only $10-$12 at dollar general (a little bit more at wal-mart) so it wouldn't be expensive to try out one. I like how it looks lowered down but the tires look maybe a little big. To get the wheels off try a soldering iron on the nut. A 60 watt iron should heat the nut without having to be on there long enough to damage the wheel. A friend cut and hinged the hood on one of those to allow access to the engine, would be pretty cool with it detailed. If you really want to paint the signals get the smallest modeling brush you can find and try going through the LED hole.

I and my Father each have one axial. I have a completely stock SCX 10.2 Honcho and my father has a Wraith 1.9 which is cosmetically modified.
So far each one has offered no problems, but they're pretty simple
but I can't say I've seen a single truck with a dig servo that survived more than...like 15 minutes without a huge amount of gentle adjusting.
Edit : Whoa. I'm not much a fan of early broncos, but that thing looks great with the 'lowering kit' applied!
Edit 2 : On the subject of Axial's engineering. The SCX 10.2 AND. Wraith 1.9 Both have the panhard hit the axle under full compression, which prevents either truck from running a full droop set-up. This could've been easily, easily adjusted by simply modifying the panhard.

@@RCeveryday got the same color too. Most of the other reviews I saw of it were the white one. I have quite a few axials, but not a 10.3 yet. I wish they would've had this deal with the blazer instead, but this one was too good to pass up. Can't wait to get it out on some trails.

Axial is kinda circling the drain at this point, Scx10.2 was a great release, but Horizon started with they're proprietary bullshit with Spektrum on the Scx10.3.. Axial could never engineer a decent dig in my opinion.. better yank that crap out of the truck and enjoy it from there,
