That was a pleasure to watch. Very accurate, very precise… a joy. Jackie Stewart always said the quietest way around a circuit is the fastest. You have just proven that. Not rushing, just getting on with it. Very well driven. Haven’t raced 250 karts since 93’. As a old bastard it’s beyond my now but I would have been proud of that drive you displayed. Well done. 👍🇦🇺
125's are fast AF and the g-forces are unreal. When I had my TaG kart I always wondered what a super kart would be like, but you know what? I had plenty of fun in my 125.
I was born there and have been around that track hundreds of time but never that fast ! To give you an idea, the lap record is 1.20 with an F3000 (A. Zanardi)
The good old days of 50 plus Superkarts flat out down hanger strait at Silverstone the 80 were the high of Super Karts RIP Martin Hines a true visionary and will always be Mr Superkarts
I drove (very briefly!) a kart years ago that had been fitted with an ex-factory Suzuki RGB500 engine. I knew it would be potent when I had to wear an ignition lanyard, but nothing could have prepared me for just how insane it was! I raced for years so don't scare easily, but this kart truly frightened me. The power delivery was so fierce and abrupt that I did a couple of laps and gave it back to the owner! He drove it like a good 'un.....
The vibration on these karts is crazy insane. I'm sure these guy hands would be numb after the race. These guys are no joke, Definitely up there with the F1 guys.
I had various race Karts back in the 1960s and 1970s.I started with a Homelite KL 100 powered sprint kart, then a Rupp Chaparral with McCullough MC-93 and later MC-101 engines. My final Kart was a Margay C open class enduro kart with 2 Komet K99 B-Bomb engines, which topped out at 160 mph at Daytona.Karts with enclosed bodies like yours were called FKE class back then in the late 1970s.
I used to run twin 100cc controlled motors... open practice was the norm, back then the 440cc rotex ruled the track. Now banned these 250s are fast but I remember doing 140mph heading to turn 12 at Road America and get absolutely spoked by a 440 doing upper 160-170
I raced karts for 40 years but never any shifter, Nor anything bigger than 100cc. I got into car racing just a little bit. I enjoyed building one club racer and one DE car that I could drive to the track. After karts for so many years the Porsches I built were boring.
@JonathanRinny ... glad your paying just enough attention to realize it’s in KM, but not enough attention to realize I converted 225 KM/per hour to 140 MPH.
I raced open wheeled modifieds and still pit for a class team.. Peter, that was smooth as glass, super fast, you and that cart together as one was a Class Act.. I got to get one under my butt... Rite-on
I'm just starting to learn of these Superkarts.Yours is the first I've seen.143mph+?(Fastest I've seen 'til now was about 80mph.Fastest I've BEEN is about 55 and squirrely as Hell, lol).Damn, you got balls, but I guess you'd have to leave them at the pits, lol.Wouldn't want mine swingin' that low and fast!.Thank You for sharing and Best Wishes!
Yah, I forgot about that. I can see that on smaller kart tracks where things happen super fast but these things are more like cars and at these speeds I think I’d like to see what’s behind me.

The moment when I thought my 125cc 2 stroke shifter kart was fast....... great driving and INSANE super kart
playerskilz Well it IS fast
That 125 may not be the fastest Go-Kart on the planet, but I bet it's fast enough and lots of fun.

I love the shift for another gear down the straight. No gears left. Been there. LOL
I've done that as well. Reach down for another gear and find that I'm already in top gear............ darn.
Shift happens !
I do that on my cr500

These are the closest things to F1 you can drive and own on a budget. They scare the pants of you but awsome fun.

If you balance the tyres well vibration isnt that bad. If a tyre is out or a bent axel, you wont be able to see due to shaking.

Cornering forces are insane!!! Constantly up around 2G with a peak of 3. You'd have to be seriously fit to drive one of these.
Just in a 125 you can pull 3G and break your ribs if your seat doesn't fit right. These are another level up and all real karts are no joke!
All that warming up the brakes paid off in the first apex. Good job.
Really good driving, very consistent, that my friend is as good as it gets! Well Done.

carol Kampstra actually, he converted the speed to MPH

Certain death
Thanks for the conversion lol.
So smooth for the speed!
Good job.
Outstanding! Makes my 125 Rotax look like a trolley! Just curious, what would outlay , in dollar terms , be for a rig like that? Just roughly?
$20-25k
One of these is for sale on Craigslist right now for $5,400. So probably double that for a new one.
250cc shifter I picked up for $1200 on Craigslist it was a steal runs amazing
You hear that low sound from 200km to 240km getting louder? Thats DEATH coming closer !
Yes what an awesome driver great lap

not so much as it appears. at speed it feels as or more stable than a 125 road-race shifter

pretty cool seeing the accelerometers hitting 3+ Gs
230km/hr (142+mph) in a cart? Wow! The fastest I ever drove was 135mph in a then new, 1976 Nissan (Datsun) 280Zx...

Do shifter carts use the clutch for the start and not after that for shifting up and down?
Are they sequential transmissions?
Yes and yes, except when you spin and want to keep the engine running (then you'll clutch again) :)
