What do you do about the crayon one when the spectator comments on the noise and gets suspicious of how you did it?
It takes some experimentation to quiet the prop. The “slider” needs to be narrower than the inside of the box - a be loose fit. A piece of foam on the bottom of the box helps to soften the landing. If you’re in a quiet area, you can snap your fingers when the crayons drop to camouflage the sound.

Hold the box with the free hand and re-grip the box so you can turn it over. Awkward? A little.
They do sell this. Haven’t seen it on the market for awhile. There’s a $10 version on Amazon. I’m assuming that it’s the same thing.
