Grew up watching his TV show (the highlight of this preteen's Saturday night) and then as a teen I was a fan of his excellent radio show on WNEW-FM!

That's amazing! 🦇 It sounds like Zacherle was a big part of your Saturday nights and beyond! His ability to entertain across TV and radio really shows just how versatile and talented he was. 🎙️📺 I'm glad his ghoulish humor left such a lasting impression on you-what a great time to be tuning in! By the way, I’ve always wondered... did he ever let his unseen wife “My Dear” out of her coffin? 😂
Out of curiosity, did you ever catch his teen dance party show Disc-O-Teen or the cartoons he hosted on WPIX-TV? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for sharing your memories! 🕸️🎶

This is a reissue of an older album that was recorded in mono. The "hard panning" is actually known as rechanneled stereo, or fake stereo. When stereo records became available, labels would often rerelease their older mono material in rechanneled stereo. There were many ways they accomplished this, from a simple pan of the balance knob, to placing all the high frequencies on one side, and the low frequencies on the other.

@vinylstudsfavorites Thanks for dropping that knowledge! 🎶🦇 You’re absolutely right-this is a reissue, and the “hard panning” effect is actually known as rechanneled or fake stereo. I’ve come across this technique when researching the album, and others who discussed Wyncote Records referred to it as hard panning, so I went with that term. But I really appreciate you letting me know about the other terms and the different ways labels achieved this. Definitely something I’ll keep an eye out for on future dives. Funny enough, I’ve got a few other Wyncote records with that same effect.
For anyone interested, I actually have another upload of this album where I tried to make the effect a little less extreme. You can check that out here:

Thanks again for the insight, always great to learn more!

A couple of these are a bit creepy for reasons not intended by the artist. Some fun tunes though!

Thanks for swimming by and sharing your thoughts! 🎃🦇 You're right-some of these tracks do have an extra layer of creepiness that sneaks up on you, even if it wasn't the artist’s intention! That’s part of the charm, though, isn’t it? The mix of fun and eerie in Zacherle’s style makes it such a unique listening experience. Glad you enjoyed the tunes-there’s always more spooky fun to come! 🕸️🎶
