This was my first car at 16years old . My dad bought it brand new and gave it to me in 1979 It was silver mist with black vinyl top. This car was as smooth as a Cadillac, sure wish I would have kept it.
Beautiful Car . My Uncle had a Yellow one in 1968 . This is nice with optional air and 8 Bolt Wheels . A Rare and Beautiful Car . Should be a musem piece ! I LOVE IT !!!
This was my first real car red on red when I was 16 in 1985. What a great car it was and so reliable, cold air and just an absolute joy to drive. Wish I still had it. Love your car!!! You are very lucky to have that!
when I was a little kid I thought this car was called a "Fuck". my mom, my aunt and I were in the car. my aunt was driving. a car identical to this Catalina pulled out in front of us. my aunt slammed on the brakes and said "Fuck!!!!". I distinctly remember the back end of this car.
IN CANADA, THE FULL SIZE PONTIACS , WERE LITTLE MORE THAN CHEVYS, THE STRATO CHIEF, WAS A CHEVY BISCAYNE, THE LAURENTIAN, WAS A BEL AIR AND THE PARISIENNE WAS A IMPALA, THE TOP OF THE LINE GRANDPARISIENNE, WAS A CAPRICE. ALL HAD A CHEVY BODYS AND CHEVY DRIVETRAINS.
Actually, I'm not certain but I think in the U.S. the Catalinas had a lot of Chevrolet in them, too. I think that they were on a Chevy chassis but with Pontiac engines and were smaller cars than say a Bonneville. Maybe someone knowledgeable about Pontiacs can comment(?) BTW, I love the car. When he turned on the radio the music sounded like it was coming through the reverb option that was so cool in that period before stereo and FM became common. The reverb became options in some cars under different names but I don't remember their marketing names. I think Pontiac might have been the first- the first that I heard, anyway. My Grandpa had a beautiful '60 Bonneville 2 dr and later a '67 or '8 4 dr Bonneville. He loved his Pontiacs.
I notice someone installed those aluminum wheels. My parents were Pontiac people back then; they had the best dashboards, particularly with that climate control that looked like a radio.
@@mickangio16 I'm well aware that these were factory wheels. Starting in '69, Pontiac went, finally, back to 15" wheels and these were history. Try again.
WELL, ITS EITHER A ' CATALINA' OR A ' BONNEVILLE'......NOT BOTH ; AND JUDGING BY THE SIZE OF THE REAR TAILLIGHTS , IT APPEARS TO BE A CATALINA. THIS ONE IS IN ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE CONDITION. YOU HAVE A REAL WINNER, ORIGINAL ONE-OF-A-KIND HERE. CONGRATULATIONS.
I don't think he said but someone else commented same as I was thinking- 400 2 barrel. I was judging by the single snorkel air cleaner(?) My mom had a 4dr Cat with the 400 2 bbl.
Look again: at 2:10 he starts the car... Sounds very smooth. 400 cid 2 barrel engine 265 HP with a 3 speed TH 400 auto transmission. Pay attention there's going to be a test at the end of the class! (lol).

The Catalina and the Bonneville were almost the same car in 1968!
sweet ride
The eight lug wheels were the best.....
Az összes oldtimer amerikai autó gyönyörű nem is tudnék választani mert mindegyik szép. Az 50 évektől egészen a 2000 évekig bezárólag.
I'm from the UK and would love a Bonneville but it wouldn't fit in my country!
That's a pretty sweet looking ride Esa 😍 😊 👌
Fr---- over the top

The wheels were factory option and I think '68 might have been the last year for them before disc brakes became standard equipment(?)

Nice

chris smith yep chrome
Doobby's Taxiola! "It's the middle of the night!"
you said everything works on this car , but the clock is not working.
'68 was last year for 8 lug wheels.
Most of them went on the Gran Prix's.
Or station wagons..

A true full size 6 passenger car. Not the little pretend 5 passenger cars of today like Chevy Impala...
You couldn't even start it so we can listen to the engine?
