Little Egrets have proliferated all over Ireland in the last few years. I’d never seen one until 2 years ago and now I see them regularly here in the north west of Ireland. Lovely birds. Their yellow feet make me laugh every time I see them.
At first as you say we though my they were rare but we saw a lot as we travelled along the south coast
They seem to be way better at fishing than me for sure
Thanks for watching
Ahh... just read the link between the Wales Tintern Abbey and the Irish one.
🤣🤣🤣Stew the gnome! 🤣🤣🤣
I love that excuse for not doing the cooking, Jane. Must use that one!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing
Ju
😁
Yes I must admit I wasn’t 100% clear on the link until we just researched it further
looks great and you seem to be really relaxed. Stew fishing and Jane watching. Jane, I am sure you said about Stew cooking as he was organised !!!! Well maybe till "you" hid the pasta. Fanatic video, many thanks for sharing. ATB
Thanks John for watching I think you will find we were both watching as I was catching nothing 😂
Hahahaha thats so true John 😂 what a contradiction 🤦♀️. NORMALLY hes the organised one 😂 jane
Great series. Well done. We have been to many of those spots over the years but you are also adding some little gems.
Glad you enjoyed it - I think if we did the same route we would find different places to go to
Thanks for watching
Beautiful video as always guys that wreck was awesome ❤
Thanks for watching - the wreck and the weather made it easy to video but an interesting topic for sure
Found your channel through Life is too short's videos and have been working my way through your Ireland series. The scenery is stunning, you capture some excellent views. Thanks for the informative commentary too - keep up the great work!
Hey guys, welcome to Ireland, if you think Wexford is nice wait till you see Cork, Kerry, and Mayo, 🤩 good luck with the trip👍
Thanks Rory the episodes are running more and more behind so I know exactly what you mean - thanks for watching and the welcome
What a great adventure! We live in North Wexford and frequently gown down to hook head and Fethard, theres some great sea kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving there. Glad you enjoyed your trip 👍
Thanks for watching - brilliant trip and really enjoyed the south coast area
Ireland looks a big place. You need a bigger map😂. Strange looking church and yard. Interesting story. Sorry pressed send by mistake. 😮
Yes the map put into context how far we have to go and how little we had travelled - thanks for watching
Pastagate! Hilarious
Hi Jane - it was when he put his hands on his back trouser pockets 😂😂😂😂. We lost a bag of dried pasta once and never found it. Wasnt even at home when we returned 🤔😂 thanks for watching. jane
Stand up!! Stand up!!! 😂😂😂
I know when I look back at these clips I don’t see me having a mini melt down lol 😂 all Jane does us laugh at me - thanks for watching and commenting
Brilliant idea on how to get out of doing the cooking. Will try that one. 😂😂
Nice vid again.
Knome weekly 😂😂
Excellent episode. The gnome reference will be hard to forget 😉❤️👍
Thanks guys for the watch and comment … I suspect it will live with me for a while until the coat goes lol
Hi Jane and Stew, another great video filled with fantastic content. Lovely sunsets, great scenery and the hide the pasta game. It's a shame there are so many ignorant disrespectful people about, the mess left by campers and the like around Loch Lomond is the reason you now have to have a pass to camp there, and some parts just don't allow it at all. I hope they don't ban overnight stays at the light house because of a few bad apples.
Thanks Colin for watching and commenting … it was a great 48 hours that’s for sure. I think it is a respect of the area from all types of people visiting but the upshot is it will mean a reduced capacity allowed to stay
The scenery is breath-taking. Really a shame about the littering. Hoping you guys stay healthy and are able to enjoy the entire trip. Thanks for making the video!
Hi Jan. thanks for watching ☺️. Theres been alot of “wowwwwwww’s” heard in Harry on this trip ! Jane
Jane sounds like me saying she's trying to lose weight lol. Love that boat wreck, just our kind of thing to see, and the colour of the sea there was stunning. Loads of grey herons, amazing. And an egret, lovely. Who knew there was a Tintern Abbey in Ireland! Nice place to spend a few hours. Love a lighthouse too.
Thanks for watching hope all is well … there is so much to see and the stories behind the places is fascinating
Loving the pastries in the shop. Laundry looks fantastic. Wow the wreck 👀 lovely drone flyover. You would think they would take it for scrap but glad they didn’t. Tintern Abbey looks stunning. Great parkup at the light house. The diving looks fun. What a lovely coast line and a lovely sunset. Stu the Gnome 😂 Thanks guys. Loved this vlog. 🙏
Thanks for watching and commenting - there was lots to do and see in this one that’s for sure and a bit of blue sky just makes it easier to film
One of the best things about travelling rather than staying at a base is being about to drop into to see things that might be interesting. Possible to see some fascinating gems but if not that good nothing lost. So far Ireland seems to have it fair share of quirky curiosities.
Yes a great comment as i think that’s the attraction of moving as you can simply pause or just pass through - thanks for watching
BTW You hit the nail on the head. No overnight parking or camping have now been erected at Hook Lighthouse. So sad.
Noooooo so sad Jane will be gutted - this where respect causes an over reaction
People want to be in the landscape so only allow say 48 hour stop no open fires and police it - I know there is a cost but also a cost to shut down and sign - needs a balance
We just knew that was coming ! Im so sad 😞. I dont blame them as I could see how abused it was. Shame they didnt just try and limit the amount of vans that could overnight. Thats one of the best places we have ever camped. And on our last night we returned and had the place to ourselves (we didnt see any no camping signs so hopefully we didnt miss them 😱) and so I’m really glad I have that memory. Jane
@@getawaygeese Jane you didn't miss the signs. Only put up in recent weeks.
Lovely episode and I’m loving the series- lots of inspiration. Love that you aren’t rushing- so much to see 😊
Hi there ☺️ Thank you and thanks for watching too. Best choice we made was not to whizz round and to take it slowly and soak up the area. Was very difficult to move on some days lol. Jane
Ireland is looking good guys! You're going to need to crack on with the mileage if you are going to get all the way round!! Love how you blame Harry for taking you down small lanes!! ;-)
Well it’s either Harry’s fault or Janes that’s for sure - we are going so bloody slow but why rush when there is so much to see I guess - thanks for watching matey
Im from Co.Wexford and I love Hook Head. Beautiful on a wild day. You should have checked out Loftus Hall, just up the road.......most haunted house in Ireland. Safe travels. Love the channel.
Hi Sean. Oh we saw Loftus hall and we wanted to do a little bit about it as it history was so interesting but our footage wasnt any good. You are so lucky to live were you do. Stunning place. I found Hook head a really special place, so much so we end up there again on the trip. I believe theyve stopped overnight camping recently which comes as no surprise to us. Thanks for watching. Jane ☺️
@@getawaygeese Glad you liked it. There is a fantastic costal walk from The lighthouse to Slade Harbour, only a mile or so but beautiful. Loftus Hall has an amazing history. There is an great book out, The Hook Peninsula, worth a read. I wasn't aware the camping had been banned, what a pity. Jane we need to see more of you in the videos lol !
Take care, Sean.
Well we heard through a comment on here but we have been unable to validate it on the internet - thanks stew
I will definitely take note of the walk thanks Sean. Would love to think that we go back sometime. As Stew said I couldnt see it online about them stopping overnight parking. But know it’s correct because of who made the comment. Shame as you say. Out of interest is the book the one with the lighthouse on the cover? Or a picture of the peninsula ? Jane
Lol thanks. Tbh Stew started logging our travels in Harry years ago and I’m never quite sure how I ended up being in them as well 😂😂
Super content again, really enjoying your journey guys. "Where's the pasta" "Get up" "Get up" Lol. Lovin' in.
Jane didn’t get the urgency of the pasta hunt 😂 thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
Jane did. She just enjoyed watching Stew more 😂😂. Sure he thought I’d hidden it 🤦♀️ Jane
Thanks Stew and Jane for another lovely video!! Great photography and drone footage. Very informative commentary about the areas that you visited. It’s useful to see familiar places through another’s eyes.👌 👀
Well done Jane picking up that litter that others just discarded and couldn’t be bothered!! Tom
Absolutely lovely! I enjoyed the entire video, but especially that AMAZING still photo at the end! The rocks, light, sunset, lighthouse, reflection… fabulous composition! ❤ ❤ ❤
Jane has an eye for a photograph and that was the best for sure - glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching
Loved this and your enthusiasm for your journey. We spent many years holidaying in Ireland but can't wait to go back with our campervan. Pastagate had us in stitches, we had coffee gate in Scotland, hubby must have his antimurder juice on a morning and we lost our coffee after a trip to Fort William, 8 miles from our site .... we empied cupboards drawers etc and made a 16 mile round trip to buy more rather than risk divorce the next morning. We got back to the dite with the coffee and went to fill the kettle, you can guess where the coffee was .... 🤣
Sounds like you have a van like ours that holds and hides stuff lol thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it
Thats so funny. Love the antimurder juice ! It’s not the first time we’ve lost pasta. A long time back while on a trip we lost some. The only reasonable explanation was that I must of left it at home. But it was no where to be seen when we returned, and in fact was never seen again 🤦♀️ I still occasionally wonder what happened to it 🤷♀️. Jane
So glad you found the pasta. Gnome shots were brilliant. Drone shots amazing. Loving this. Take care Gill
Thanks so much for watching and feeding back it means us a lot and encourages us to do more
Great video guys. So glad you are enjoying the sunny south east. My wife tried the messy cook one but I'm not having it. 🤣Great pronunciation of Port Láirge by the way!! Unfortunately the few will ruin free or wild camping for the majority of us. That's said away from the really popular spots we still find plenty of beautiful stop overs.
Well I hope we got the pronunciation close as we did check but as ever even online Jane was getting differences lol
I just hope councils don’t over react and realise the value of those that do respect and actually put measures in place to those that don’t
Great vlog, super drone footage! All round the wreck was very interesting!! As well as the country side!!! Wild life, sea views, fisherman, sunstes, narrow lanes, pasta hunt....Loved watching it all.... Keep well.
Glad you enjoyed it was just one of those 48 hours you get some times where it all happens - thanks for watching and commenting
Ah I am from Waterford and saw that dredger actually working..it was still working way past its best days..."Port Lairge " is gaelic for "Waterford"...Waterford city is defnitely worth visiting with its viking triangle area.
Oh wow. Sounds like they got their moneys worth from it 😂. We actually go to Waterford in the next episode. Looked lovely but we missed the viking area unfortunately as we went to the Waterford Crystal Museum Jane
Loved this one. You're so wicked Jane..gnome weekly 🤣 and Stew, loved you checking your pickets for the pasta. Like you say, all these amazing stop overs will disappear in the not too distant future. Such a shame 🤔🐕🚙
Its really sad isnt it 😞 sad that a few ruin it for the ones that respect it. Thanks for watching ☺️ I couldnt resist it when I happened upon stew sat on the rocks like that 😂 jane
Very good video guys did they copy the Monmouth Tintern ?
Hi Roger. Thanks for watching ☺️ They were connected and monks from the Welsh one sent to live in the Irish one (I believe). Jane
I live in the Caribbean and visited Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire. After your vlog I did some research regarding Tintern in Ireland because I had not realized that there was another. Surprised to learn that the one in Wales was the original and then two sister Abbeys were built. I did notice in your vlog that the plan shown said Tintern Monmouthshire. Anyway, if you ever get to Wales again please do try to visit Tintern there. It is beautiful sitting on the banks of the river Wye.
Well I missed that connection so thanks and I will certainly be visiting the wales one as it’s on our list to visit - thanks for watching and commenting
The lighthouse in Spain was rebuild so it's not the original standing structure as far as I know. So hook is technically the oldest in the world
I didnt realise that despite reading up on it 🤦♀️. It was slightly confusing. Theres something really special about Hook Lighthouse. I loved it there so much. Thanks for your comment. Jane ☺️
Hi hope you are well and enjoying your travel
Could you please advise me if you have a solar panel and if so is it flexible or ridged type how does it perform
Hi Stephen thanks for watching …. Do originally they were a flexible panel but I upgraded the electrics and at the same time increased to a 120w fixed panel as the flexible has stopped working - i think they now supply fixed with all their vans - hope that helps
Fab! I was saying to someone the other day how it feels like we're making the most of being able to free camp in some beautiful places before they're taken away. I hope we're wrong. Looks like there's just too much to see in one trip, but good to see you taking your time and chilling. As we often say, if you see everything first time there's less reason to go back!
Hi there 👋 hope you are both well ☺️Totally agree. Free camping is such a special thing isn’t it and such a small minority ruin it. We see them all the time on the road. We definitely took our time on this trip 😂 jane
Beautiful episode and glad to see you’re both feeling better. Same old story with the parking spots being blocked off & you can’t blame these areas for doing it. When I was at Loch Doon there were fire remains and scorched ground areas literally at every pull in. An embarrassing sight to respectful vanners. I must get fishing again too. A very mindful pastime. Glad you found the pasta 😂. Take care both 😊
Hi Sue ☺️. Its when Stew tapped his back pocket when he lost the pasta 🤦♀️😂. Yes thats how we feel when we see the scorched earth and disgusting way some areas are left - embarrassed. You cant blame areas for banning it can you 😞 I’m impressed you fish !! Stews really enjoyed taking it up again - Jane
@@getawaygeese I fished as a child with friends (a real tomboy!) and Bri and I fished for many years. Have you watched ‘Gone Fishing’ with Bob Mortimer & Paul Whitehouse? We were like them, talked rubbish while having a laugh 😁. I’ve never done it solo but do quite miss it so might look at a minimal equipment version! 😊
Yes we have watched it - thats nice memories you have of you and Bri 🥰 Stew came back to Harry frazzled a couple of times due to fishing issues but generally it relaxed him. Take care Jane
So I recommend the rigged and ready x5 rod and reel kit as it’s small and cones in a protective hard bag. That’s what I went for for the campervan - but not cheap but well made and a great set up
Great episode guys, well done! Hope you're both feeling better! Ireland looks amazing already. Defo a shame about the idiots that litter and leave their trace. It'll ruin it for every one. What months did you visit?? Looks smashing weather so far.
Hi Mark ☺️. Thanks for watching. That episode was the last week in Sept believe it or not. We arrived back yesterday and Ive got to say the weather we had over the 2 plus months we were there was unbelievable. Barely had the van heater on in all that time. Mind you we had the worst of storms too as you’ll see in future episodes. I even went in the sea in October 😂. Jane
The parking is stopped because of People who know nothing about camping got caravans and campervans over the covid lock down and just pulled up at the hook thinking they were in Spain.. drinking and leaving rubbish everywhere and leaving caravans parked all summer so no one else can stay for a weekend...
We are gutted but also lucky as Janes favourite place …. This is about respect but also authorities tackling it by getting at those that abuse but first they need to reckon there are many who are respectful and actually put done thing back into the communities they visit
Sorry I am a bit passionate about this as councils and authorities need to not always take the easy option
Thankyou for commenting as appreciate your views
Yet another great vlog, I’d pay good money to eat in that restaurant. Stunning views & the food looked amazing. Perhaps the chef should make a Stew, it would be a real Irish Stew. 😂. Jane your gnome reference made me proper chuckle, I can’t unsee it 😂.
Thanks Paul for watching … food is amazing in Ireland as so fresh …. I am afraid the gnome ref will now stay until the coat goes
There was an Aire right beside ye in called Bannow bay near the church, yes that grave is still used today. Near hook light house was another fabulous Aire called Norman view. The name of that ship reck is the Irish word for waterford . They tried to stop wild camping at the hook light house, because lots of undesirables stay there , if you get my drift . They throw rubbish everywhere. They will eventually ban overnight wild camping in Ireland because of the undesirables.
Thanks re the aires will make a note - will be a sad day if they ban wild camping for those that respect the countryside - i am glad we saw it now at least
Please please please stop pronouncing my country wrongly you guys do it in every video, its iReland not island, all English people do this theres a great big fat R in the name , other then that I'm glad you enjoyed your trip
Apologies we are trying to put it right and certainly not intentional and just an accident - the videos have been produced in advance hence not out right immediately
We had a great time thanks ☺️ Bad news is that you’ll hear us say it all through this series as it was all done and dusted when you first pointed this out Good news we will be back for 2 more visits and will right this wrong. I agree all English people do this as we have asked friends and family and as you say we all do it. Jane
A BIG "thumbs up" for picking up some of the waste that (irresponsible) people left behind. THANK YOU!
Thanks Julie - we always try n litter pick when we stop anywhere. A few let the majority down dont they 🙄 thanks for watching and commenting. Jane ☺️
@@getawaygeese Yes, a few can, AND DO, let the majority down.
I wanted to express my appreciation for going above and beyone and picking up the litter of others' doing. Thank you!
I do the same.
Thanks we both feel respect all ways is key as we never get up in the morning to upset people and hope others feel the same to
We like to feel that in the end those that do good will win over those that doubt vanlife - stew
