Good grief guys people aren’t reaching out for help on Facebook as their first choice they’re doing it rather than calling the numbers you keep giving out because either their landline is dead or nonexistent and the cell phone towers are out. Sometimes Internet service will stay up even when the phone lines are down.

As someone from West TN this hurts so badly to see, I have been to East TN many many times, and it is one of the most beautiful places in the state. I will be grouping up with co-workers and petitioning our administrator to volunteer to provide food/clothes for those affected.

I'm from East Tennessee, I have family and friends all over, from Roan Mtn , Mtn City, Elizabethton to Knoxville. I'm so worried for them..I live in South Carolina I haven't been able to find out much.
Is Johnson city in Eastern Tennessee? I hope they ok I have a good friend there but he hasn’t responded
Those areas have no power, cell service, and some have no water. Some families are calling for well checks or shelters.

Thanks guys for the update! I certainly appreciate your hard work during this disaster. People that post negative comments need to personally experience such an occurrence. It’s amazing to me how unkind some of us can be during periods of personal tragedy.
Seems like everybody sent all the help to Florida because that's where it was supposed to be the worst. I hope some of the surrounding states will come to help the people of other states that were also hit hard

I dont think these people understand that Facebook was the only way to call for help. Some people had spotty wifi only. No power or cell service to call. But they could reach social media.
North Carolina s weather advisory facebook pace has been a literal life saver for people, and he was one of the first voices getting word out hiw bad it was. Because in eastern NC or anywhere else in the nation, we had no clue how bad it was because no communication out of the mountains.
Thank God for internet as a life line in this case
That would be an excellent volunteer job for a volunteer team - to monitor their facebook 24/7 for incoming SOS and them make the direct phone call to the proper number on behalf of those posting and act as a liasson between the stranded (who only have net access) and officials and rescuers. I'm located in Asia or I'd volunteer. Ideally, people who know the area (roads, geography, and landmarks) should do that.
