So today I accidentally when replacing the lines put the primer bulb upside down and it would not work so i saw your video and saw what was wrong and now it works I can’t thank you enough Also whats the song
Thanks for this. To push the new gas line into the gas tank, I took off the carburetor to get better access to those two small holes into the gas tank. A long length of clothes hanger wire in the gas line stiffened it enough to be able to push a few millimeters of hose through the hole. Maintaining pressure on the hose I pulled the wire out and with needle-nose pliers pulled the hose the rest of the way into the gas tank. A drop of oil on the hose helped as did removing the brake handle to get better access. The tip of the wire was ground smooth to prevent scratching of the inside of the gas line.
That took FOREVER to do. I used a coat hanger (as Ian McLaurin suggested) and I used a large sewing needle with 40lb-test fishing line to help guide it through those little holes. It finally worked and my garage-sale McCulloch chainsaw ($10 for the saw and $10 for the fuel line kit) is ready to eat some tree limbs!
If you cut a tapered point on the new line it will go through the holes, Then just grab it in the tank and pull it through. Cut off the pointed end of the lines and attach the filter. The other line from the primer bulb can be cut off and left short to return fuel to the tank, the upper hole is for this line. Bottom hole filter line to carb. Make sure there is enough line on the filter to go to the bottom of the tank. No need for wires etc. Hope this helps.
From the primer bulb side, use needle and thread to lead the deeply angled cut tube into the gas tank. Worked for me the first try! The thing is that the hole into the gas tank is not perfectly lined up with the hole in the air box side, so the needle and thread method was the best way for me to get this done.
doing this on a mac fr 2.1 right now. to get the fuel tank out you must: 1.remove all case screws 2.separate case 3.remove flywheel nut and flywheel (do not loose flywheel key) 4.remove two screws that bolt fuel tank to engine 5.slide out fuel tank. reassembly is in reverse order. now would be a good time to clean the case. and remember on chainsaws, the primer pulls fuel from the carb and sends it to the tank.
I was looking at the guys using coat hanger. I just bent the end of a paper clip like a fish hook. then attached it to line and pulled it through the tank. I think this was a good video. I think talking would have been better than the music.
Thanks. The issue was a blocked port on the carburetor. I took it apart and rebuilt it, blew air through the ports to clear them, used some carb cleaner put it back together and the purge valve started working. If anyone tries this and doesn't have a carb rebuild kit, be very careful not to destroy any of the gaskets in the process. Thanks
After trying to replace the fuel primer bulb on my MAC 3516, I discovered that all 3-fuel lines were shot & need replacement. The video certainly is a help, but the big problem now is HOW to gain access to do the line replacement. It appears that the only way to gain access for installing the new lines will be to lift the carburetor out in order to get your fingers into the tight spaces. Is this correct? If so, I wonder how the carb can be removed. It is not apparent how it is fastened down
I did this job today, replaced 3 fuel lines and the oil line. I had to open up the casing in order to thread the fuel lines. I snaked a piece of string through the tube then through the small holes in the tank. I then knotted one end of the string and pulled it through while pushing it with a small blunt object like a flat head screw driver. I then used needle nose pliers to pull it through from inside the tank. Was not easy at all. Any way after I got it all hooked up it won't stay on, it will start if I prime it and choke it but won't stay on. Almost like it's not getting fuel. I am wondering if the out line from the primer bulb to the tank is too long? Even if it was this function is only for priming right? I dumped some fuel directly into the carburetor to start it but it won't stay on. New fuel filter, new gas mix. Fuel filter in tank to carburetor (angled side on left side of carb), Line from tank to "in" port on bulb, and line from out port on bulb to left side of carb. Spent all day on this, disappointed it's still not working with a large dead tree in my yard.
Hope you have your tree taken care of by now. Did you test your bubble valve (actually a purge valve, not a primer) to see if it pumps fuel in and out of the two ports? There are one-way valves in them that might be bad. You could remove the valve, stick a couple of hoses on the ends and try it with gasoline. This would also verify which is the inlet and which is the outlet.
So sad if this video had more of an explanation it might of helped me and others!!-- the music BAD IDEA!!!!anyone having trouble with their saw and is TOTALLY FRUSTRATED and in need of help!!!it just PISS"S THEM OFF!! what a shame!
Chaged the fuel lines and primer bulb but only stays cranked with the choke closed open it shuts off don't know what i did wrong maybe to small fuel lines
The text of where the fuel supply line from the tank, which says it connects to the carburetor does not match the picture which clearly shows it be connected to the primer bulb.
+D Lofton Kind of a no brain er, you gotta know you can't feed the line through the tank. go in from the outside clip the hose to make a lead and pull the hose through the tank with pointed nose pliers, clip off the hose to a flat surface and install the filter so it lays down on the bottom of the tank Vid was excellent Thanks
Great video. Purchased the bulb and hose kit and all works as described in the video.

i just put new fuel lines on one today and i cracked open the case down the middle and made it alot easyer to get to everything.

Very good - using a "leader" to get the line to follow into the correct place. Smart. Gus pulling wires do this often.

My Mac c/saw seems to have a 5/64" pipe trying to fit through a 1/16" hole.

What is the size or part number for the replacement fuel line? Thanks for the video.
Ali Baba lmfaooooo 🔥🔥🔥
That starter cord needed an extra turn to tighten it up!

I think that is the return line to the primer bulb. The bulb PULLS the gas from the carburetor and then returns it to the tank.
Stupid music...need more than's given. Nothing to see here. If I wanted music, I'd have gone to music instead.
Go here for a good clear tutorial on how to do this - ua-cam.com/video/R_qd5T4-MOs/v-deo.html
Ditch the music
Great music!!!!!!!!!!!!
worthless video you did not tell or show how to get lines from carburetor compartment into fuel tank
