The US application process sounds so crazy (in terms of how competitive it is). In most countries you just apply and if you meet the requirements you’ll likely get in.
Also just a tip in Australia, it might pay to get out out the habbit of saying ‘school’ and ‘college’ haha, that’s so American and people won’t call it that in Aussie (school literally means school up until high school). Just called uni or university in Australia and NZ.
We also don’t say Aussie unless referring to an Australian person. It’s never used to refer to the country.
@@Vannzzy Haha interesting, we call it that all the time in NZ! Bit like people referring to the fruit as a Kiwi I guess, which we would never do here as it's either a bird or a person.
@@eljj7968 well what do New Zealanders call a Kiwi fruit then if not a Kiwi?
@@shermanator87 It's called a Kiwifruit! Never just a kiwi :)
im australian but when i go to uni i tell people im going to school. it just comes more naturally to me
me, a local melbourne uni student: interesting video
good luck in Sydney katelyn!! ❤️
Omg please vlog Australia, I want to live vicariously through you
you even show us how to apply so considerate luv ya as always~
I'm an Aussie citizen starting at the uni of Sydney this semester, I just finished high school! It was so cool seeing application from an International student's perspective aha. I cant wait eeek
How is it?
australian uni student at monash here! hearing what international students have to do to apply is interesting, because it’s so different to the process i went through :)
so happy that you found a school that you’re excited to attend ^^ i was actually thinking about studying abroad in australia for a semester
i would lovee to see videos related to moving to Australia, your experiences, day in the life as a student, campus tours, uni essentials, cool handy gadgets, some hacks maybe, tips and tricks they don't tell you about, study techniques... basically anything Australia related, university related, and day to day related! This video was very helpful!
When is the deadline for semester 1 February intake
That's so exciting! would recommend checking out USYD rants or USYD love letters!
I would totally love to see a video on the Financial aspect of being an international student because paying for college in AU is sooooo different compared to the US. 💀
morgan rayner how is it different may I ask?
@@Kyeongjuni Its so much cheaper
@@thendrelnirmal8480 it’s different for international students! As an Australian citizen we pay through a HECS scheme where we basically get loaned the money for uni tuition and don’t pay it back until after uni when we’re earning a certain amount of money and it’s through taxes! Generally it’s a lot cheaper than the US but international students typically pay upfront but may pay more for tuition compared to a citizen. Hope that helps a bit!
I love your videos ❤️❤️❤️ and it’s crazy you’re moving to Australia and I’ll be in Tokyo in October 😭
Good luck katelyn!
I will apply soon next year wish me luck
Good luck on your new journey! Can't wait for your college videos
yeet im so excited to have u in sydney!!
good luck katelyn!
i will soon apply this year and i’m so nervous :”(
Remember to keep looking forward. College is a great experience.
good luck at your new school!!!
monash uni student n longtime subscriber here!! hope you enjoy aus :)
I’m so excited for you!!! Love your videos and hope to see you around abs xx
Thank you!! 💗
Hi Katelyn, Thank you for your information about step by step to Apply Australian University. This Channel very usefull for me
this is so helpful but can you please talk about potential scholarships for international students in usyd?😙
Haha I’m at Monash, congrats on Sydney!
Hi Katelyn,
It was very sad to see you wait that long for the offer from UniMelb. One thing I wanted to clear out is, for the mid-year intake in July, the University of Melbourne starts selecting students from March, no matter when you apply. Since you got the offer on April 4, that date fits their given range of 2-4 weeks of turnaround time.
Sabid Hossain honestly I didn’t really mind since I was already set on going to university in Sydney!
And what is the best date to apply really ?
gosh, i'm late but LOVE YOU STILL!
Very helpful video. Thanks a lot!
super keenn to see u in syd !!!!
Does GPA matter when you apply to UNSW and USYD? If what is the required GPA? And is it possible to get to the uni with low gpa? Thanksss
i need answers tooo
Me being an Aussie child:
Good job you didn't hate on our education system :P
I am gonna apply in 2022 and my target is to get admission in uni of sydney or unsw, i am really nervous. btw the most saddest part of video is she has a bf ,jk, but very well explained. ty
Ok so I wanted to go to Latrobe university in Melbourne because I liked the apartments in the docklands and I thought they meant 38,500USD but once I saw the meant AUD I knew college is so much cheaper in Australia I still have to get my visa and stuff to go there but I’m gonna take a year off until I’m 19 to apply so I can save up some extra money then apply and go in the beginning of the year
Ooh you’re at Queen Mary Building? It’s really nice there and much nicer than village.Enjoy!
Okay that’s great to hear HAHHA
it’s the way she pronounces melbourne for me
Hey! I'm looking at applying to the Queen Mary building for semester 2! Do you remember when the applications opened?
im also goin to sydney this october i hope i’d get a chance to bump into you hehehehe
My brother does commerce at the university of Melbourne :)
Heyyy another USYD’s student here 😀😀😀✌🏻
Hey! I’m so confused on when you start applying. Because for international students senior year ends on July. Normally for U.S colleges you would start applying for Early Action during December or so. But since Australia is flipped do you apply for the first semester of February after you graduate your senior year? (So like in July) Wouldn’t I be a year behind if I apply like that? I’m genuinely just confused maybe it’s just me being dumb but it doesn’t make sense to me. Hope you’ll answer my stupid question haha thank you!!!
were you interested in starting from semester one or mid term (semester 2)? if you want to start from semester 1 next year and haven't already applied i recommend you do it asap! :)
@@PallakB08 heyy!! Umm I’m a Junior right now (11th) so next year August when I start school as a senior, do I apply that year December for first semester of university in Australia or after I graduate. Just starting early to know all the deadlines and all so I can prepare :) thanks for replying !!!
@@hannapark8677 hey!! Amazing that you are starting early! And yep so you’ll have to apply before mid December (15th or so) for 1st semester! Good luck with everything!!🤍
@@PallakB08 ahhhh I’m so sorry I keep asking but if I apply December does that mean I would have to be enrolled in February right? But I wouldn’t have finished senior year yet??!!!
@@hannapark8677 ohh I see! That makes sense sorry I missed that, I am quite certain that based on your previous grades Australian unis may still be able to offer you admission or at least conditional admission. By when do your year 12 exams finish?
Can you apply in December and commence in February
I had no idea you just apply for the college in America that's so weird, I'm from Ireland and you apply to the course/degree you want here too
same
Hey katelyn can you submit an application for some of us as an educational agent ??
This whole stuff is just way too long and complex
In the Australian application process is there an essay section?
Can you tell me a little bit about the enrollment if there are any tests or something?
Good luck in AUS!
Hi katelyn
Wish you luck on your studies..... I just across your video while scrolling. I just visit the website of university and I see the portal is currently open! So my question is the university of Sydney is it full founded scholarship?
any tips for obtaining a student visa? and do you plan to stay and work in Australia after you graduate? I am looking to go to graduate school in Sydney
Did you have to submit your transcripts?
what is the deadline to submit the required documents when u got conditional offer letter from uni of sydney?
Must i have SATs? A quick answer would really help
Ty
is SAT important for applying process to
university ?
Just wondering. Do you still need to take entrance exam for university in Australia? If you're an international student. Or you just have to apply and just wait for the offer?
It would be a great help if someone will notice my question. Badly need help
did u ever get the answer lol
Do Australian Unis acknowledge APs? I know they may not count them as college credit, but will your APs matter at all to them?
Completely unrelated to the video but you should do a vlog in japanese!
Do they have good financial aid??
What was your degree at Santa Clara?
What’s your act score
so happy for you, have fun at sydney uwu
off topic but does anyone know if you’re a dual citizen (half american) but went to another country in high school, do you apply as an international student in us universities?
ddj gonzales i think technically you’re international but you qualify for financial aid since you’re american!
ddj gonzales most colleges will consider you international, but you should check out individual schools' websites where they specify who's international and who's not
does staying in the campus dorm cost us extra money?
yea it does, prices range, but its usually $300 a week
bruh I applied to University of Sydney aye
Did you had to do school interviews for universities while applying? or personal statements essay?
depends on the course, for medicine yes you have an interview
Heyy I have a 4.0 gpa unweighted I was wondering if it would be easy for me to get into an Australian University 💗💗
So, I'm a domestic student in Aus so I'm not completely qualified to answer this, but I did apply to US Uni's as an international student so...
Anyway. A 4.0 GPA is really good, congratulations! If you want to apply to Aus Uni's you definitely should give it a shot. The process is a LOT less extensive that the process for US uni's and focusses only on your academic achievements so all you have to do is give them your transcripts and stuff like she was talking about. So there isnt much to lose, it shoudnt take you much time and I think you have a pretty good shot with that gpa (but bear in mind that certain degrees will require you to have taken certain subjects in high school so make sure you do your research).
And depending on the city the uni you want is in (sydney and Melbourne being the most popular and in demand cities) you might want to think about accomodation as early as 6 months to a year before you come over (alot of accomodation will allow you to apply for a spot before you receive any offer from a uni)
I hope this helps, and good luck!! Please let me know if you have anyother questions :)
Hi dear
Plzs help me
Can u tell me that Charles and MiT universities are public or private universities in Melbourne
it is crazy to me that you think $28'000 a year is not much like omg. in Switzerland it's about $1'500 a year plus supplies and books so maybe $2'000.
Moinmoin never said it isn’t much but in comparison universities in the US, it’s way cheaper :c
@@katelynerika sorry, i wasn't trying to be judgmental i just meant that most americans would probably feel like that and that's honestly sad. Can't imagine how it must be like coming out of your studies in debt. That system is f*cked up and so unfair
omggg I'm from australia
it’s so bad how all the unis just handout offers to all these international students for the purpose of making more money while domestic students suffer with high entry requirements and atar
So you went to an American university, a Japanese one and an Australian one?
Banu Ahmed never went to a Japanese university
What are you planning to major in?
Marketing!
Hey.♥ I love this 100%.I truly love you.💕 You look lovely.💕 Xoxo.💕 I love your videos.♥ Please do a couple mukbangs.
Hiii i’m planning to apply for universities in australia and i just wanted to ask if you had to submit letter of recommendations, extra curricular, college essay, etc in your application process?
Franczine Tan no essays, didn’t have to submit extra curricular a & no letter of recommendation!
@@katelynerika omg that’s so good I’m only 14 but I’m gonna apply when I’m 19 and work up around 45kUSD to apply to uni I’m Australia
Do you have any tips for making friends once over there?
you really have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and be as outgoing as possible!
@@23penguinlove I could’ve thought of that. I didn’t know if there was a place that most people in their 20’s go to hang out.
@@theboyscout0156 bars
did they require a college essay?
ingalladaniele no
katelynerika what atar did you need?
bravoooooooooo
I’m a local and I have no expectation whatsoever to look for a apartment/home at Sydney 😭 I’ll just live with my parents, the houses/apartments in Sydney are so expensive.
I know! I already looked a lil & it’s sooo expensive.. but I honestly don’t think I could live in a dorm for 3 years + it would be convenient if my family visited me!
I just started my first semester at community college in California, do you think if I applied to Australian universities I could get accepted for the upcoming semester?
Brooo I feel really bad about I don´t have money, I live in Chile and here minnium wage is 490 USD a month, I´m crying, I need a scholarship):
Can’t wait for the vlogs! So excited
Good luck on your new journey.
do you know how the process would be for a student in the US who went to community college first and then transfered to an AUS uni? Would your credits from the community college not transfer?
That's sooo cool. I'm going to an Australian Uni next year too! So, did you already graduated by the time you applied to Uni?
