    The Saints blew the Giants doors off; and yet the Giants went all the way. The NFL is insane; which is why I love it; the talent disparities are so much less then CFB; that a 9-7 team goes all the way. The 2011 Patriots are a total paper tiger; these Giants beat them in Foxboro in Week 9; with half the team injured; and the Patriots didn't beat a single team that won more then 8 games until the Ravens in the AFC Championship. They beat the 8-8 Tim Tebows to get there. And the Tebows beat the Steelers. It's wackiness; every season you try to gauge any team's worth by who they beat and you always run into circular madness.

      That and no one was really able to shut down Drew Brees and the high octane offense in 2011. It’s almost near impossible to stop an offense like that.

      yeah, but damn did they luck the f*** out when new orleans lost to san francisco in the playoffs. if they'd gotten past the 49ers, they would have hosted new york in the superdome, where the saints scored about 40 points per game in 2011, for the nfc title game, and do you even doubt that they wouldve beaten the breaks off of the g-men yet again? i sure do dont. i mean, they only rolled up 50 points and 600+ yards of offense on new york the first time they played them...

      @Michael Had Saints beaten 49ers, they had home field advantage for the NFCCG. And in 2012, Saints had a historically bad defense that gave up the most yards in NFL history. Lots of teams scored on the Saints that year. Giants also set the record for most special teams yards gained that game. The 2012 Saints were not equivalent to the 2011 Saints. Had seeding priority been removed from division winners in 2011, the Giants would have likely lost to the Saints in the Superdome a second time that season (as of 2021, their last win in New Orleans was on MNF in 1993, with a trip there scheduled next week), instead of going on to win Super Bowl 46, beating my Packers along the way.
    Instead, the Packers might have made quick work of the winner between the Lions and Falcons, both dome teams who normally struggle in cold weather games, and who knows, maybe the Packers would have defended their title in this case.
    This is a huge reason why I am in favor of removing seeding priority for division winners. Not all division winners deserve to start the playoffs at home.

    • @kylegross1081
      @kylegross1081 2 роки тому +1

      As a packers fan I’m not sure New Orleans beats NYG again under that scenario. You should remember in 2007 when we beat the Giants in the regular season 35-13 in NY and then they came and beat us in the NFC Title game at home. They may have gotten crushed here but they were playing significantly better come playoff time and their defense was on another level. They were built similar to how Minnesota was a few years ago when they gave New Orleans fits in both of those playoff games. I agree on the seeding though, it should be all division winners and then the 3 wild cards but from their the seeds are all determined by records. Division winners should only be guaranteed a playoff spot and that’s it, no home field advantage if they have a worse record
