So while it's all very nice to feel warm and fuzzy, it is also worth thinking about reality. I assume you do actually care about our planet and animal welfare and not just about feeling warm and fuzzy? Veganism won't save humans and it is not saving the animal kingdom, it is however helping privileged ignorant Western people feel special about themselves and superior to others.

I'm a middle-aged 40-something dude, and... I actually really like a lot of today's artists. Not necesarily the top-40 radio hitmakers, but indie musicians, groups, individuals etc. There's a lot of great stuff out there. You just have to be willing to seek it out. And I once told myself that I was not going to be one of those aging white men who complained endlessly about how "today's music ain't got the same soul," et cetera. And I am not.
I hear this argument all the time. You're correct that good music is still out there but the point I try to make is that society is at a loss when the good stuff rarely or never filters through to mainstream / chart pop. Take Moby. A lot of us here in our mid to late 30s and above remember when he came on the scene because he was a mainstream artist for a time. IMO had Moby been in 2019 instead of 1999, only a fraction of people would have heard of him. He wouldn't have gotten the backing or the radio play. So 20 years later he wouldn't be appearing on a talk show to reminisce because he wouldn't have had any notable success or touched a large number of people.....(with his flaccid penis!) That's the problem with mainstream music now. It's robbed our collective consciousness of quality music to soundtrack our lives.

54 too and I listen to Moby, Snow Patrol, Vampire Weekend, The Kooks, Shakira, St. Vincent, maybe Ed Sheeran, and one song by Rihanna. But I recently rediscovered Marc Bolan, who blows them all away.

@@TimothyTakemoto I actually saw ST. Vincent here in Indianapolis a while ago. Great show. I'm a life long live music junkie. Been to hundreds of concerts. The band I've seen the most number of times(19) is Lucius. Discovered them in a dinky little club in 2013. Was blown away by their dynamics & musicianship. I got goose bumps several times during that show. So good.They have two lead singers. Holly & Jess. Very unique. When I heard Bill say Moby is incredibly honest I thought this guy has done a shit done of therapy or is in AA/NA. If you need to get sober please do. There are so many of us out there living in abstinence. Sober people need to be brutally honest with themselves and others about their motivations to have a chance to remain sober. Seems like he works the programme hard. Good on him.
