Service 248M is a variant of 248, a route that goes from Tuas Terminal near Tuas Link MRT to Tuas South to loop. Unlike its non M-suffixed counterpart, 248M serves an extra loop at Tuas South Boulevard. The route serves 1 more stop than 248, and as a result, operated only 8 hours a day: 4 hours in the morning (8am-11am) and 4 in the evening (4pm-8pm). During this period, 248 will not operate and likewise, 248M will not operate when 248 operates. 248 and 248M share multiple common features on its route: It shares an express sector along Tuas South Avenue 5, initiates a big loop throughout Tuas South, and frequently deploy double decker buses: B9TL, and occasionally an A95.
Service 248 was introduced under BSEP (Bus Service Enhancement Programme), while 248M was introduced under BCM (Bus Contracting Model). A number of routes have a M-suffix with minor alterations of the parent service, these include: 182/182M 182M only serves Tuas Checkpoint towards Joo Koon Interchange ONLY, while 182 serves Tuas Checkpoint towards BOTH Joo Koon Interchange and Tuas South. Like 248/248M, 182M operates as a peak-hour replacement of 182. 16/16M 16M serves Bukit Merah Town Centre (BMTC), detouring from the existing route of 16, which directly goes to Bukit Merah Interchange, skipping BMTC. Unlike the other two mentioned earlier, 16M acts as alternate departures of 16 during Peak-hours. 961/961M 961M serves Marina Centre in both directions, to Lorong 1 Geylang and Woodlands. 961M operates as the Sunday/Public Holiday Variant of 961. It is the only service to ply Raffles Avenue and Raffles Boulevard that allows passengers to stay on. Other service do not allow this, as they terminate at Marina Centre Terminal, which is not for passenger boarding or alighting.

Thanks for this walk down memory lane. Working in Tuas Medical Park from 1999 to 2009, these streets were on my daily commute and it was wonderful to see them again.
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV No at that time at first I took the bus to get to army camp during NS, and later after that I had an IT job where I had to see a client out in Tuas West. So I had to take 182 from Boon Lay out to Tuas West.

@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV oh most of the camps are in Jurong, but the 182 passes by there during that time. In most cases a lot of the companies there have their own buses for employees, but it's really helpful for someone like me who had to go there on an adhoc basis.
