I'm disappointed in how many layers it needs and the amount of dry time. I think for now I'll be sticking with UV resin and be done in just several minutes. I'm just gonna go now and remove the Brite Tone from my Amazon cart.

uv resin takes minutes vs traditional resin. i think using a good anti vapor mask special for resin and using uv resin i think it would be a little faster for sales. but for Someone who wants to do something for the family and has small children it's nice not to have those toxic fumes. But you still have to wear a dust mask since you are polishing.

Hi! Yes it can. If you take a look at the second part of the video, I seal the front of the keychain which is just vinyl. I don't add any glitter. Follow those directions and you are set for sealing vinyl on keychains.

It’s just too much. I understand the concern about toxicity, but I will just have to wear my PPE and open the doors and windows. For something with a larger return, I might consider it, but not something as small as a keychain. I’m curious why you wait 4 hours when even BT says you can recoat in 2. That would make more sense for the small pieces.

Probably, but for a tutorial I wanted to follow their guidelines. I’ll have to give it a try and see how 2 hour dry time works out. Thanks for the idea.

This might take longer overall, but it's so much safer. Not everyone in my house (kids, pets) wears PPE while I craft.

Hi! I'm with you on loving the non toxic aspect of Brite Tone. Brite Tone has the same cure time at epoxy - about 30 days for a full cure. I've read that if you are using 15-20 layers you should wait 5 days to ship. These guidelines are intended more for tumblers. If you are doing keychains, you have significantly less layers, so you could probably cut that down a day or two with no issues. When you do ship it, make sure you wrap it in parchment paper before putting bubble wrap or any plastic around it. The parchment will protect it while curing.
Have you made an acrylic round without glitter? Do you know if we still sand it then put vinyl and then do the layers of brite tone? Also, I got bubbles in 3 of the 4 keychains I just made. Do you know how to prevent this?
Hi! To seal the vinyl without glitter you only need as many layers as looks good to you. If your objective is to seal the vinyl on so it doesn't peel up, one or two layers is fine. If you want it super smooth or very shiny, you might have to go for more. I would still lighlty sand it first if you can, but it will definitely work without sanding. I'm surprised to hear you got bubbles. I've never had bubbles. Even if they come out initially they always settle and disappear. I would suggest two things: 1. Make sure you aren't shaking the Brite Tone before you apply. Just lightly stir it. 2. Pop them / work them out with a pin if you see them. Let me know how it goes!

Hi! It dries very hard. It’s very scratch resistant against normal daily wear and tear. Like resin, it takes a full 30 days to cure, but after two days with lite use it shouldn’t scratch. The key is applying the Brite Tone in very thin layers. Like nail polish - if it goes on too thick it doesn’t dry correctly.
Good question! Brite tone has to go on really thin for it to work. It might be harder to get the thin layer with glitter in there. It would probably work well if you are going light on the glitter and wanted more of a dispersed glitter look instead of a solid glitter look.

Hi! I asked the company that and they said if the room is cold a heat lamp might speed it up a little, but nothing that significantly cuts down dry time. They did say you can shorten the dry time down to 2 hours in between layers instead of 4 which their instructions said. That cuts it in half which is nice.
Hi! I heard back from Crystalac. Since their product is water based, a UV lamp will not help. They did say since we are applying thin layers it is possible to cut the drying time down between layers to 2 hours. That helps! It cuts total time in half. 😄
Thanks. They do sparkle. Yes, two days. If you can set them up out of the way, it only takes a second to apply each coat. It is really easy. I haven't messed it up yet. Lol! But you do have to have space for them to sit for two days. Thanks for watching!
Are you sanding to level Britone or because the vinyl or glitter makes it uneven? Will it stay level after the next several layers? Thank you for sharing!!! Im thinking of making focal beads.
Hi! I sand to level. Some of the pieces of glitter do stick up, so it’s good to sand those down too. It is self leveling, so it doesn’t need a lot of sanding, but it’s a good practice. I usually add about 2-3 layers after sanding and it does stay level. Let me know how the beads work out if you try it.
They have a new product I’m going to try that dries quicker and takes less coats. Trying to find something that’s not toxic bc I can wear PPE but I have kids and pets in the house.

Why I thought we couldn't use Brite Tone for acrylics? I just ordered more uv resin but I already have Brite Tone.
So glad you have some. The only thing you cannot use it with that I know of is alcohol inks.
