Mine is at 53000 miles / 85000km and it runs like a champ, feels and smells like brand new still. I do use the webasto pre/parking-heater but even when im not, i don't feel any hesitation at all, at least i haven't noticed any on my My-16.
Thanks Ken. And as you have a pre heater I can assume you are experiencing much lower temps than those my UK based vehicle will be exposed to. Mine still has no rattles and squeaks which really impresses me on a chassis based vehicle. Build quality does appear to be pretty good.
@@ToTheGarage I think our ambient temperature in South of Sweden is on par with your's with this years lowest so far been down to 42F/5.5C. I do also agree about the lack of squeeks and rattles. It's a very sturdy and well built car, yes car, because it feels like a big SUV in my honest opinion.
Tie wrap the bottom radiator hose as the pulley wears though it when the pipe expands / also my bonnet micro switch broke causing 5 bleeps when i locked the doors. the body paint tends to scratch very easy must be a very thin coat . other than these small things nothing else has broken
These bastards in Trinidad and Tobago.. the lone dealer Massy Motors basically tell to us service every 5K KM ..and if not serviced it can lead to void of warranty.. which I believe is madness.. why should I change oil/tune up every 5K Km? Absolute MADNESS
Hi Fowl Man Thanks for watching. Ouch! Every region sets its own service regime based on the expected type of driving and conditions they anticipate the truck will experience. I can only imagine that they think you will be driving mostly across beaches and parking it underwater to demand a service every 5k. (🤔 that would be every 2 months for me minimum!) In all seriousness another consideration may be that they anticipate many short journies which do cause more issues with condensation in the oil than long ones and potentially that the suspension will have a harder life?. Console yourself that although you have to visit the service shop waaaaay more often than you would like. You will be doing so in a wonderful part of the world. Thanks again for watching my friend👍
Hi Jigger Thanks for taking the time to comment. I will have a bulb change video up very soon. I dont have any plans to fit a bash plate at the moment so that one may have to wait. Thanks for subscribing pal. John👍
Hello Thanks for your videos. I am considering buying a pickup, and I am slightly hesitant between Navarre NP300 and Ford Ranger. Your videos show the reality of what a Navarre is. Thank you from Portugal
Thanks Bruno Im sure that both would make excellent choices. Interior slightly better trimmed and car like in the Ford. Unladen ride is slightly better on the Navara.
What tyre pressures are you running ? I agree that the NP300 is the best looking pickup, personally I think the Merc looks worse in every way , the interior is truly horrible to my taste, the service cost per hour is up to 50% more just so that the mechanic can have a merc badge on his coverall and the service items are 25% more to come in a merc box (via Nissan), the only interest for me would be the v6 but it's only going to be available at truly silly money and not wokhorse spec. Keep up the good work.
Hi Ian Thanks for watching. Im running 35 PSI front and rear. I did raise the rears to 40PSI during the Hypermiling experiment. Im hoping the V6 will make its way into the Nissan or Renault badged model. Same experience lower cost.
Another lovely video giving us NP300 owners reassurances and detailed comments in Johns particular way! Do not change that! Back to mercedes / Navara .... with all honesty there is a certain side angle when you look a our NP300’s that sets our pick ups apart from the others It’s how the front wheel arch + bonnet + bumper end at the front, looking from the side that is. If you compare to others it gives the impression that our set up near the front wheel / axle both sit as forward as mechanically possible. Giving the vehicle some sort of motorsport competitiveness or should I say “aggressiveness” and with more stamina or stance without going overkill unlike other models on the market. Once a wise man with long white beard said: Careful with cold starts !!! Get up earlier 3mins in the morning if that’s the case and give those 3 mins to your Navara NP300 engine to warm up.
Sage Advice reference start up my friend. And you are right ref the styling as well. I would like to see the Renault Alaskan in the flesh. I dont think it has been released in the UK and not sure it ever will be though. Pretty sure that this will be identical to the Navara with the exception of headlights tailights front Mask and Badge. However Renault may introduce some interior colour options? or potentially some even more radical colours than my Gorgeous savanah yellow. I do love renaults current Metalic red. It has a certain red tinsel or anodised quality.
Hi rondg2. You have shamed me.😔 I am (believe it or believe it not!) an Engineer!, and you are absolutely correct. Its a 'Digital Caliper' and not a 'Vernier Caliper'. Old habits die hard. Thanks for watching👍 John
Great video as always. I'm after 26000km service (16000miles) and I had to change the pads already, plus the edge on my disc is a lot bigger. I honestly do a lot of engine breaking and I was negatively surprised how poor the quality of those materials had to be. I have no ideas how you've managed to make 30k miles on your pads...
hi Jakub RC. Thanks for the kind words. Loads of motorway miles have probably helped me. Im only 1000 miles away from the 2nd service though so lets see what happens then!
I'm at coming on to 42k. Tyres still have loads of life. Pads will need doing in the next few months, I'd say I've got 30% left. I serviced it at 32k last time as it just seems too long to leave it between services to me even though that's what Nissan say! I contemplated doing an intermediate service myself. Only other issue I've had is the heater is crap in terms of 17 being cold and 17.5 being boiling! Mine also ticks on acceleration and has done since about 5k miles. I think it's injectors but it's been back twice now for this and Nissan keep saying its normal. Also the electric windows keep starting to stick and they need to be greased every service.
@@origin_japan_ltd My heater works in the exactly the same way. Sometimes the engine ticking is louder, sometimes there is none - nothing wrong with it yet however. Window mechanism works fine too.
That group of wires at the top drivers side of the engine bay that aren’t covered are the wiper motor wires that’s how they always look from the factory they are nothing to do with the canopy wiring kit that comes all sealed in black protective sleeve sorry
No Sorry required. Thanks for the intel Jamie. I take it the relay is connected with the canopy then? Must admit it was an assumption as the wires you mentioned just look so .. .. .. 'after thought!' I take it the relay is connected with the canopy then?
@@ToTheGarage The relay is for the heated screen on your hardtop.. the loom actually goes down by the servo into the drivers side front wheelarch and then into vehicle through the bulkhead where it taps into the main harness for the heated screen feed to the vehicles rear heated screen and the locking system for the locks. the rest of the loom goes to the back of the vehicle for the lighting.

vernier caliper uses the vernier lines to measure sub-mm. so a digital cannot be a vernier
