I think the Charger's problems were mostly people driving them too aggressively. My insurance company noted that these and Challengers have a high loss rate with the V6 and V8 engines from wrecks. I know several people with V6 versions of these cars who've gotten 200,000+ miles of trouble-free service from them--but they don't abuse them. The maintenance intervals called for are somewhat lax, too--especially for what are considered sporty cars. 10,000 miles and/or one year between oil changes is sketchy even for something driven gently only on the interstate. Most of the people I know change their oil every 5,000 to 6,000 miles.
Dodge stopped making the Grand Caravan because it was old, didn’t have up-to-date safety features, and wasn’t as popular anymore as people started switching to suvs. It didn’t have things like automatic braking or lane assist that newer cars have, so they replaced it with better options (pacifica). Still, wish they kept it.
If I remember correctly the Chrysler TC by Maserati was their attempt at creating a halo car. Like you stated it sold poorly because most people mistake it for a LeBaron as well it's poor reliability and quality issues. It was asinine to pay $40,000 for the TC when you pay less for the LeBaron and get similar features. The Chrysler TC debacle was reminiscent GM's Cadillac Allante (body by Pininfarina) that came out around the same period. From what I seen in the past when American automakers collaborate with its Italian counterparts the results are disastrous.
@lordmaul3 yeah man. Lee Iacocca wanted it to be a halo car for the brand. They wanted to reinvent their image. 40k in 1989 dollars is insane. And it was too similar to the LeBaron, although it had nothing to do with the LeBaron.
@@MotorMaster_Stunticonalso, something that was left out was that the TC was supposed to come out for 86 (I think) launching the halo Chrysler design language, with the lebaron to follow along later down the road. My cowoker had a dodge avenger and all the inside door panels fell out. It was so uncomfortable riding in it cause it was cramped and you're pushing against the inner door mechanics
I had one of those awful Chrysler Le Barons with the backward 4 cylinder engines. Constantly overheated and in the shop all the time. Charged up all my credit cards fixing it.
Malaysian viewer here. I thought the long partnership with Mitsubishi would've give them better quality. Sad as some of these got good looking exterior designs.
What's infuriating is the fact that quality went downhill even more after Diamler came in! Most of Chrysler's gorgeous concepts were created with production in mind and were all drivable! Diamler didn't want the upmarket competition! Look at what the original Pacifica concept became compared to Diamler's R Class that stole their concept and failed while Pacifica actually sold decently. I think the Pacifica was probably even more reliable. 😂 Even more insane is the fact that they've released the new Dodge ev "muscle car" on a fullsize luxury car platform and left chrysler with just the minivan. Who's actually running the place?
The 1st Gen Pacifica actually didn’t even sell well its first year (2003 for MY04) due to Chrysler packing it with options most people didn’t feel were necessary
It’s a shame the quality control was lacking for many years ( maybe now also?) because from a design standpoint, the 88 ( and later) LeBaron was actually a great looking car. Its proportions were perfect in convertible form and decent in the hardtop model. Sure the front overhang was a bit much compared to current designs , but if you see a clean version on the road , they still catch your eye. The TC had a strange short wheelbase but not a terrible looking car either for the era. Of course this is my opinion but I’d be curious who else likes these models in looks only.
My 2000 grand cherokee has cruse control issues. I would turn it on and it would not engage. I could not turn it back off until I shut off the jeep entirely. If I did not turn the jeep off entirely when I was driving it would engage out of nowhere have terrify me. I refused to use it again.

I will say the sensors tend to go bad. Maf sensor to wheel speed sensors but a cheap $40 fix. Performance wise its just a standard 6 cylinder with some extra torque. Feel it's a bit lazy in first to 2nd gear but it's definitely doing fairly well with what they gave it. These things cop such a terrible reputation
Put the new Hornet on there. My uncle supporting the home country product and bought five for his business. Then he had to buy five battery boosters because they all die if left sitting for more than two weeks.

I have owned 3 Intrepids and still currently own a 2002 that I bought brand new and it's been the best car for the past 23 years and it's STILL going strong! SO, don't expect me to believe ANYTHING YOU GIVE YOUR OPINIONS on!!!!
All due respect, I would only consider a couple of these amongst the worst from Chrysler group. Most of these are decent for what they are. Recalls are not a very good measure for whether a car is good or bad. Toyota and Honda are often high up on the recall list. I am thankful when manufacturers attempt to fix problems at their own expense vs. Pretending there is no problem and forcing the customer to repair it at their own expense using the same part that broke in the first place to repair it.
Indeed. But some of these recalls were downright life threatening. If I owned a car that refused to disengage cruise control or had braking issues from the factory or had the potential of erupting into a blazing inferno, then yeah, it’s a terrible car in my book 😂
@MotorMaster_Stunticon I understand completely what you're saying. Safety is not something to take lightly. What I'm saying is if the recall has fixed the problem, the problem is resolved and the car is now fine to own. That would be like saying that a late 2000s to early 20 teens Toyota known for the stuck throttle problem should still be regarded as a dangerous car that no one should buy. The problem was the floor mats which resulted in recalls and lawsuits from injuries and deaths. If the problem is fixed, then the problem is fixed. That is what I'm getting at. I also want to emphasize, I'm not saying that every car on that list I disagree with, I'm saying some of the cars on that list I think are not that bad.
I don't know I would take my Chrysler vehicles over a Toyota any day long time Chrysler owner here and went out of my comfort zone and bought a Toyota and I will never do it again it has been the worst experience I've ever had! At least I got 20 years out of my neon does Toyota I have is dying tons of defects! And the quality is not that good! I don't know what people see in them and my grandparents had two Camrys and they were garbage 93 and a 97 in both had engine problems also have a suspension problem in the rear that's been hush hush with the torsion bar breaking away from the frame non rust related.

Maaan, if I was in charge, the 300 would’ve never been discontinued-would’ve instead just got a new evolutionarily redesign. Yeah, full-size sedans were on the decline, but people actually liked and bought the 300. Also, would’ve offered an suv based on the Durango for people that wanted an SUV. Probably would’ve brought back the Imperial to compete with more expensive things from Europe. V8 and RWD without a doubt. Such cars would sell if they’re unique enough.
@@MotorMaster_Stunticon You have a lot of good plans there. Based on the video I think they are coming out with an SUV. They do need a sedan or two truly. You do have a great plan for the brand. I liked your idea for Imperial.
Well.... not being Dodge's advocate, their cars did have the issues, but not sure were the complaints or data taken from in this video. Looks like copy-paste from "the urban legends magazine". Both Avenger and Caliber - yes, they are meant to be cheap and affordable cars as any other affordable car. To their lowest trim better not to approach at all, but Avenger R/T (midsize car equipped with 3.6 V6) or SRT4 Caliber (hatchback with 2.4L turbo) will be the beasts in their class.

Loved my 69 Plymouth Wagon with a 383. And my State Police auction 78 “Blues Mobile” Charger with a 440. But that was a different day.
The Crossfire was all Mercedes with the exception of styling. That car was bullshit and they blame Chrysler lol.
My cowoker had a dodge avenger and all the inside door panels fell out. It was so uncomfortable riding in it cause it was cramped and you're pushing against the inner door mechanics
Yep, that sounds about right!
I had one of those awful Chrysler Le Barons with the backward 4 cylinder engines. Constantly overheated and in the shop all the time. Charged up all my credit cards fixing it.
You forgot to mention the 1996 Caravans that had faulty e brakes and were rolling away
Yeah next time
The TC looks just like the biggest failure over at Cadillac. The allante.
Yeah the TC had high hopes.
No, Cadillac's biggest failure was the Cimarron and there is no discussion to that
@@1983jblack I could be wrong but the allante was designed by Pina Farina and built oversees only to be shipped here. Which cost them 100s of 1000s.
@@1983jblack Basically, a re-badged Chevy Cavalier with some added refinement in the interior and some Cadillac Script on the rear taillights.
Malaysian viewer here. I thought the long partnership with Mitsubishi would've give them better quality. Sad as some of these got good looking exterior designs.
Thanks for chiming in from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Basically avoid any eco box made by Dodge 90’s and up.
Thanks for watching
I kind of miss seeing Dodge Shadows.
Great point. At least Carlos Tavares is gone, so we’ll sit back and see what happens with Stellantis.
@MotorMaster_Stunticon fingers crossed. Chrysler deserves better just like Pontiac did.
The OG Pacifica looked like a BMW X5. I'm surprised BMW never tried to sue.
Don’t give them any ideas!
The Dodge Avenger from 2011 to 2014 was really good because they fixed the previous problems by then but at the same people was turning away from it
The 1st Gen Pacifica actually didn’t even sell well its first year (2003 for MY04) due to Chrysler packing it with options most people didn’t feel were necessary
Thanks for chiming in.
@@MotorMaster_Stunticon Yeah I love cars lol, and Chrysler is my favorite of the big three
How'd you limit it to 8?! Amazing feat! Not all heroes wear capes.
Yeah more are definitely coming. Just wanted to limit these videos to 8 or 10
It’s a shame the quality control was lacking for many years ( maybe now also?) because from a design standpoint, the 88 ( and later) LeBaron was actually a great looking car.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Yeah I always thought the LeBarons looked nice.
I had a friend that told me he would never drive a Chrysler product unless it had a Cummins in it.
Yeah the Cummins Inline-6 is a great motor
My 2000 grand cherokee has cruse control issues. I would turn it on and it would not engage. I could not turn it back off until I shut off the jeep entirely. If I did not turn the jeep off entirely when I was driving it would engage out of nowhere have terrify me. I refused to use it again.
That’s insane. Thanks for sharing
What a miserable brand. My uncle had a late 90s/early 2000s Durango, and it was constantly being worked on in the driveway. He finally scrapped it after finding out the rear diff gear was just about toothless.
Haha!
If the Dodge Avenger is a “Midsize” then wouldn’t that make the Charger classified as a full size?🤔
Charger is classified as a full size.
@Zadaplug the Charger has been marketed as a full-size sedan since 2006 😂
Nothing rusts out like a 2000s Chrysler product
You’re probably right
And in the mids 2000s people in UK/Ireland were unfortunate to drive the Dodge Caliber.
That was such a terrible car lol
Haha!
Drive shaft is no kap I had 2014 AWD and had spend almost 3k and now the engine is shut out so yea buying used chargers especially v8 100k miles and up is a risk especially police versions which what I had v8 awd
Thanks for chiming in.
7:36 it doesn't help that the battery was literally located in the left front fender and 8:21 😂😂😂
Yeah, that too
Chrysler was probably at its peak in the early and mid-1980s afterwards and prior to that they were problem plagued vehicles
Yes, that sounds accurate. Thanks for watching
😳 me watch this video and seeing chrysler crossfire pop up whilst I currently sit in my very own Chrysler crossfire 😳 ngl I gotta disagree from a few points here, engine is pretty tough actually had 0 issues with mine and I've got it to 180,000kms on the clock.
Yeah they do cop a terrible reputation
1:07
Thats around $97,000 adjusted for inflation
Dang. That’s insane
I got a 6.1 in a WK that is a cool veh seems pretty reliable too, not good on gas at all but wins at the lights and that counts.
Ok thanks for chiming in
Put the new Hornet on there. My uncle supporting the home country product and bought five for his business. Then he had to buy five battery boosters because they all die if left sitting for more than two weeks.
Ok, next time we’ll discuss the Hornet
BULLSHIT!!! I have personally owned several Chrystler and Dodge vehicles and I have NOT HAD ANY problems with any of them!!!! I have owned 3 Intrepids and still currently own a 2002 that I bought brand new and it's been the best car for the past 23 years and it's STILL going strong! SO, don't expect me to believe ANYTHING YOU GIVE YOUR OPINIONS on!!!!
Well, I see you commented on several of these videos, so thanks for the engagement.
Alright but the interiors are still dogshit lol
Low IQ comment
I actually loved the Avenger
and ppl out here paying over 70 grand for Dodges 🙄🤦🏿♂️😅
Yeah man, especially those Hellcats
Chrysler: oh man i can't wait to make the 1999 dodge charger look as sleek as a Jaguar 😀
Mercedes: NUH-UH NOT ON MY WATCH
You needed more. What about the Neon. One of the cheapest built cars ever.
You frogot the dodge neon and dodge hornet
The Neon is actually pretty reliable. I think the Hornet is still too new for any major issues
Moral of the video “Dodge a Dodge product”
Ha ha HA!
The TC by Maserati was a more luxurious Lebaron
Yeah, seems as though
I don't know I would take my Chrysler vehicles over a Toyota any day long time Chrysler owner here and went out of my comfort zone and bought a Toyota and I will never do it again it has been the worst experience I've ever had! At least I got 20 years out of my neon does Toyota I have is dying tons of defects! And the quality is not that good! I don't know what people see in them and my grandparents had two Camrys and they were garbage 93 and a 97 in both had engine problems also have a suspension problem in the rear that's been hush hush with the torsion bar breaking away from the frame non rust related.
My 14 Chrysler 200 going fire with 176k. And, ofc. It's better than all the ghetto looking 200s I see everyday in my area. I made mine clean
Awesome. Thanks for commenting.
Not to mention the shit CVT transmission the Caliber came with which was both horrible and unreliable
You’re right. I mentioned that in a separate video.
You missed the Dodge Aries 😢. Biggest pile of 💩 ever. Replace wheel bearings monthly. Work on daily, still may not start SMH 😔.
I'll have to look into that. They were not exactly known for reliability.
@MotorMaster_Stunticon Noooo. My parents had one in the 90s. I hated to get picked up from school in that thing. Id rather ride the bus. That car was a embarrassment.
It always amazing me the criticism of chryslers etc. Probably never owned one. I am still driving a 2006 charger sxt. I also have a 2013 dodge dart that never gave any real problems. This is probably an AI robot talking.
AI? Matter of fact, I owned the notorious oil sludge 2.7 in an unreliable Sebring 😂
I owned an Intrepid too, which was just as unreliable. I even owned a later Sebring sedan and my mechanic couldn’t even figure out what the electrical problem was with it. Every Mopar I owned was always junk.
hey hey now chrysler has more than just the pacifica...dont forget about the, ahem, voyager minivan...lol
Ha! Yep
no more intrepid slander!
I owned a 2.7
I thought you might want to watch this video: Why Chrysler Has Nearly Disappeared:ua-cam.com/video/ZKcxHz9E2lo/v-deo.html All I can say watching this video is to say Daimler Chrysler .....Stellantis....Stellantis.... That is just sad. You really went there and call the models out.
Has an 87 Dakota V6. Junk.
Yep, yep
chryslers are the best looking, which us how they sell
oh they make more than just 8 🤣
We’ll get the others next time!
Looks like the typical bhph lot lmao
Haha! Yeah that’s where you can find most of them. Buy here pay here lots
For a top 10 let's add the Dodge Journey and the Dodge Nitro.
The Nitros aren't the worst. My wife had a 2008 RT, was a solid truck. Seen a few going into high mileage. However, this was an era when Dodge interiors were all cheap plastics.
Thanks for the tip. We can do that
I had a 2001 dodge neon, and it wasn't that bad of a car. I did have a Dodge Intrepid, and that was a great car with a 3.3 liter v6. It may not just be Dodge. But I noticed cars from about past 2005 arre just junk. Even Japanese cars. 😢
Yeah Neons are pretty good despite what people say about them.
The Intrepid is good too, as long as you avoid the 2.7-liter engine.
That engine was so bad.
